[Proposal] Glimpse into next Summer

Just some moves I'd like to see that would benefit this team:

• Before TD, ship out Hamhuis and Vrbata for picks/prospects.
• Try trading away Jensen/Vey to a team also looking to trade their struggling prospect. If not, trade away for a pick.
• Offseason come free agency, sign Lucic, Russell, and Demers. 
  - Approximately...Lucic 5 years $5.5m per...Russell 4 years $4m per...Demers 5 years $4.5m per...total = $14m in.
• Trade Higgins in the offseason. Let Prust and Weber walk.
  - Higgins, Prust, Hamhuis, Weber, Vrbata = $16m out. 
• Promote Fedun as the 8th dman, RH shot. Retain Bartkowski at a lower cap as the 7th dman, LH shot.
• Due to depth on the wing, Shinkaruk to start off in Utica. 1st callup option. Unless he turns heads in camp and management makes space for him.

Getting rid of the old core and bringing in new faces / continuing the transition. Defense is weak point. Trading for a top 4 dman costs too many assets. Have to draft and develop for the most part. Demers and Russell both would be beneficial stop gap dmen for the time being. 

Lucic comes home, gives instant security for our team...helps out Dorsett not being the lone wolf with Prust leaving. Sutter on wing and Cracknell as the extra gives plenty of centre depth.  And with the cap bound to rise, and the players leaving and new additions coming in practically washing their cap dollars, still would have a bit of room close to the cap as we usually are.

I hate Staples for shoving the Easy Button down our throats. Everyone uses that damn big red button for everything.

Russell I think will get paid more. He is a shot blocking phenom. However that said I agree with you that we should target him. My concern is the cost, though isn't playing so hot so far this season.
