I think the.com one was based offshore or something to make it legal. A ton has changed since then. Poker stars gambling license is in Malta and the "HQ" is on the Isle of Man. As far as I am aware the only way you could end up on the wrong client is if you DL'd the NJ client. My guess is the OP is under age or from the US(because he has said he can't access multiple sites). There is only a couple of sites you can play online poker from in the US and PS is not one of them.
