    [Proposal] VAN-PIT

To PIT: Sam Gagner, Thomas Vanek To VAN: Riley Sheahan, 1st Round (2018) Why PIT: The Pens are not too far from a Playoff spot. But they need better depth in both centre and wing. Sheahan isn't meeting scoring expectations (they really miss Bonino) and Gagner would be an offensive upgrade for them. Vanek would also provide an upgrade to their wing and would look deadly getting passes from either Crosby or Malkin. Why not PIT: Gagner's contract length might concern them. Also, in a deep draft, maybe they'd find it better to keep a first rounder, lottery or not. Or they may think a first is too much (see Vanek trade history). In that case, a second or third may suit them. Why VAN: Rebuild reasons. Sheahan's contract expires this year and would be a decent centre for the rest of the year. But, we add a first round pick. To note, with how deadly the Metro is currently, and how badly the Pens want to three-peat, the pick could potentially turn into a lottery pick. Why not VAN: Gagner and Vanek have been good with Boeser, and may provide support for his Calder run.

    The Walking Dead Thread

From what I've read, Scott Gimple had Carl killed in order to facilitate some cooperation or peace between Negan and Rick, as the former had developed a fondness, somewhat fatherly in my opinion, for the kid, bringing them to feel empathetic for each other and the common ground of an ideal that Carl died believing. It still seems like a strange and unnecessary way to bring about peace. I do see what Gimple wanted to do, but there were better ways of going about it. I would, for example, have had Morgan return to his pacifist self and convince Rick, through word of mouth and self-sacrifice, of the necessity to keep Negan alive. But that's just me. Also, while the writing is on the wall, I'm still rooting for Carl to survive somehow. Perhaps he is immune and just needs to go through the phases of infection before revealing the condition. Wishful thinking, perhaps, but can still be a plausible result. My predictions for the remainder of the season: Either way, and I know this may sound cliché of TWD fans, but I don't know how much longer I can follow the series. For sometime, probably since Rick's arrival in Alexandria, I've been struggling with the show's dialogue and storylines. The acting has been fantastic, despite the script, so that might be enough to keep me going just a little bit longer. And, with the show's ratings seemingly signalling an impending end, it might just be worth it to see it through. Only time will tell, I guess.

    Flames’ Tkachuk Spears Matt Martin

The more I see this kind of BS from him, the more I feel better we didn't pick him up.

    NHL All-Star 2018 Captaincy Vote

I don't get it either. If you have Keller there, then you have to put Boeser up there as well.

    NHL All-Star 2018 Captaincy Vote

I'm curious to see who we, as Canucks fans, see as captains for this year's All-Star rosters. My nominations: - Atlantic: Steven Stamkos - Metropolitan: John Tavares - Central: Alex Pietrangelo - Pacific: (VAN-biased): Bo Horvat/Brock Boeser/Derek Dorsett (John Scott?) (non-biased attempt): Oliver Ekman-Larsson Link: https://www.nhl.com/all-star-ballot
  8. Can Dorsett play center?

[Signing] Canucks sign Thomas Vanek [1 year x $2M AAV]

Both on and off the fence with this signing. I get that he's potentially marketable and could fetch us something decent at the TDL. But simultaneously, I'm nervous that we're borderline competing for a wild card spot and out of the lottery. Baertschi Horvat Boeser D. Sedin H. Sedin Granlund Eriksson Sutter Gagner Vanek* Burmistrov Rodin Dorsett/White *Our scoring's decent if we roll four lines. So long as Vanek plays with Sedins in PP, I think he'd be satisfied playing on the 4th line. Power Play: D. Sedin H. Sedin Vanek Edler Gagner Baertschi Horvat Boeser Hutton Stecher

CDC Consensus Prospect Rankings - #18

In 2014 post-draft, it seems he didn't even crack the top 10: https://www.nhl.com/news/horvat-paces-list-of-canucks-top-10-prospects/c-728684 In 2015, he jumped up the ranks to #7, according to Canucks Army: https://canucksarmy.com/2015/09/13/ca-s-top-20-canucks-prospects-the-final-list/ By 2016, per Canucks Army, he moved down to #15: https://canucksarmy.com/2016/09/02/canucks-army-top-20-prospects-the-final-list/ - Note: I realize that I have a different source for 2014, but I can't seem to find one by the Army
