Currently, Alex Edler is sitting on 49 points, with 2 games to go. Canuck nation always wanted a 50 point dman, and had one, but he left for money.

So, do you think Edler will hit 50?

I say he hits 51, for good measure :)

Go Canucks go!

Depends if he gets a point in the next two games. :bigblush:

He should:

49 points / 80 games = 0.6125 points/ game.
0.6125 points/game * 2 games =  1.22500 points.

He'll need to get to 50 to be considered an elite defenceman in the league right now. I know points don't matter as much as overall ability, but if he stays below 50, he'll always be considered underrated and not in the same class as Chara, Weber, etc...

He won't be considered a star around the league I guess is the best way of putting it.

I don't doubt that he could get there though. He can do almost everything a d-man needs to do.

Seriously? The way he has played the last half of the season (poorly), 50 points certainly isn't going to change anyone's perception of him. You have to get over the "the more points he has = the better defenseman he is" misconception. In my opinion he has not come close to taking that step forward everyone expected this year.

Didn't mean exactly Chara and Weber... Don't take everything so literal.. Hopefully you understand the point I was trying to make

You clearly don't know how to read.. Take a look at what I said "I know points don't matter as much as overall ability".. Obviously I don't believe in the "most more points he has = the better defenseman he is" misconception, because I said it in my post..

More points will just get his name around more in the league, make him more famous.. Do you think anyone gave a crap about Keith Yandle before he put up 59 points last year?.. You see the point I'm trying to make, hopefully..

No, I don't understand: he isn't one of the best d-men in the world, no. Scoring 50 points instead of 49 won't change that...

Breaking a milestone amount like 50 points will make a difference in how people, especially the media will perceive Edler.

Just look at Stamkos this season. If he scores 60, everyone will remember it as "the season that Stamkos made 60 goals, wow!" If he gets 59, no one will really remember this season over any other of his.

I reckon he can, but like a few people have said I was hoping for better things from him throughout the entirety of the year. But I reckon/hope, he'll bring his A-Game in the playoffs, we'll need him to be the player that we know he can be!

I hope so!

I remember back in December/January when he was on pace for 59 points or something. I think he can do it, two big points tonight and one against Edmonton to get him to 51.

EXACTLY what I was trying to say. Thank you!.. I'm glad someone else on this site has a brain

And if Stamkos does it, he'll be in the Ovechkin, Crosby class.. Does that mean he's as good as them? Nope. Just in the same class

Point finally proven.

Well, we are playing the Flames and Oilers. IMO he'll get 2 points each game, so 53 to end the season. It's almost impossible he doesn't reach 50.

We're playing 2 terrible defensive teams, and Henrik is on fire right now so I'll say probably.
