It Wasn't Luongo, It Was Daniel

To be completely honest, outside of a few people (like <1%), Lou hasn't really been under the gun. I think most people realized it was never his fault, and that starting Cory was only done to shake up the team. Replacing Raymond or Malhotra or Kassian may not have had a bigger impact.

Heck, the 1942 TML benched their best two players of the first three games (which they lost) and went onto comeback and win the Cup

Why can't people see?

The first 3 games we lost because we were missing a key component in the team, one of the twins. Even Schneider couldn't get us a win in the third game.

But as soon as Daniel comes back, we win 3-1. Is this a coincidence that as soon as Daniel starts playing again, we win? Of course not.

Why then are people continuing to blame Luongo? I am positive that not even Schneider could've won Games 1 and 2 for us.

Could you imagine if we some how pull of a miracle and not only win this series but the stanley cup with Luongo on the bench? I look at this cituation like the olympics where Luongo was the benificiary. He was back up to Brodeur and there was little chance he was going to play any important games. Then Brodeur looked off and they tapped Luo on the shoulder and the rest is history. I would prefer, if we could get out of this series, that we use both goalies in tandem so they could both get their names on the cup. But for now Im just hoping for one more win.

But see now you're now just selling Luongo short. There's absolutely no reason we can't win 4 straight with Luongo.

No matter who starts games 5, 6, and 7, they best be on a short leash. If we go down by 2 goals at the most, whether it's Luongo or Schneider, they gotta get pulled.

Hmmm, hey all...new guy here. Have read this thread with great interest...

What rings true through it all are two things:

- They are both great goaltenders

- Schnieder clearly is the better goalie this season

Much as a coach will play the line that is on a roll one night, or give the player that is "in the groove" more icetime, your coach has clearly chosen the goalie he felt gave the team "the best chance to win", (he actually said that in a recent interview by the way).

All of this lament about Luongo getting blame, this sentimentality, etc., is kids stuff. You do not put players on the ice for sentimental reasons, especially when a series is on the line...and nobody is placing blame on the one sitting out.

He simply put his best player on the ice. Schnieder was clearly the right decision, there is no blame.

The reason that Luongo was better when he first came here was because the Canucks played a defensive system that made Minnesota jealous.

When the club replaced plugs with skilled players, they played more offense and therefore opened up.

Only real difference about Lui is his belly flopping.

Maybe not so obvious.

1 Canucks are/were 1 game away from elimination

2 Av has put Schneider in for last 2 games

3 AV has more confidence in winning with Schneider in net

4 He (AV) wants to win.

5 He (AV) will give his team the best chance he thinks they have to win.

6. Schneider is in goal!!!

7 If you think my points are getting redundant please see how many Luo/Schneider Posts there are

8 AV wants to give the team the best chance at winning

9 copy and paste points 1-8

Lou has never been able to play, in the playoffs, to the level he attained during the season...his GAA always rises. This year he was 2.41 GAA and it went to 3.50 in 2 games. AV went with Lou, showed faith, and gave him the starts. Schneider had a 1.96 GAA and has raised his play and now sitting at 1.03 after 2 games. A team needs their goalie to excel in the playoffs...the game changes...gets tougher....and the goalie needs to elevate his game. History has shown that Lou does not. His seasonal stats do not support the notion hes a stellar goaltender. Not this year anyway !

It's the Daniel and Ballard effect, both needed in line up to win.. They struggled without Ballard, With Dan gone they got hot again and when Ballard is back wouldn't you know it ? We struggled. Both are back, lets goooooooooooooo.
