shawn antoski
Just an idea I got looking at the canucks roster for 2013-14 I think the canucks should trade Booth and Luongo for a player that will be worth up to 4 million soon+ a top draft pick and prospects. With the extra cap space the canucks could afford a true #1 Dman and a 2nd liner that will fit better with Kesler My 2013-14 Custom Lineup FORWARDS Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / -------------------------Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) /----------------------------- Burrows New Contract ($3.250m) LUONGO TRADE ($4.250m)----- ---------------Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) / ------------------------------Zack Kassian ($0.870m) Higgins New Contract ($2.350m) / ------------Schroeder New Contract ($1.500m)--------------Jannik Hansen ($1.350m) Fighter ???????? ($0.900m)--- ----------------Lapierre New Contract ($1.500m)---------------- Nicklas Jensen ($0.925m) Steven Anthony ($0.577m) DEFENSEMEN ????????? ?? ($6.100m)------------------ Edler New Contract ($4.750m) Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m) /--------------------Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m) Tanev New Contract ($1.750m) /--------- Gragnani New Contract ($1.150m) Connauton New Contract ($1.150m) /--- Rome New Contract ($1.000m) GOALTENDERS Schneider New Contract ($3.250m) Lack New Contract ($1.250m) ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $64,171,667; BONUSES: $0 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $128,333 players like Raymond, Alberts and Ballard can be traded away for picks and prospects (which is a good thing considering how bad are prospect pool is rated). I think the contracts I gave have pretty reasonable cap hits, and Gillis can structure the contracts like Bieska's or Hansen"s to manipulate the salary cap. And the cap is expected to be going up, so there's even more extra space to utilize

Pears
If the cap goes up to around $68-$70 million this year, so by 13-14, unless it goes down, it should be up to around $73-$75 million. Here was my idea for that season: Sedin (6.1) - Sedin (6.1) - Kesler (5) Hartnell (5) - Getzlaf (6) - Perry (6) Burrows (4.5) - Schroeder (1) - Higgins (2.5) Kassian (.9) - Lapierre (1.4) - Hansen (1.1) Forwards = $30,400,000 Edler (4.75) - Weber (7.135) Hamhuis (4.5) - Suter (7) Tanev (.9) - Connauton (.9) Defense = $24,135,000 Schneider (3.5) Lack (.9) Goalies = $4,400,000 Total salary: $58,535,000/$74,000,000 There's still tons of room for additions.
