Gragnani was a wild card that Gillis talked up in lawyer like fashion but proved to be multiples less than what Gillis promised.

Rome is gone.To me it is like losing a wild card.Plays bottom pairing,strikes fear deep.Similar to the Torres loss.

Knock Sami if you want.Nobody has replaced him.Garrison is younger and bigger,but not a physical force like Rome and does not have the offensive abilities of Salo.

Without Hamhuis Bieksa is a three ,four d man.

Tanev is not going to hurt anyone and Alberts is not talented enough to play top six.

Ballard has to be relied upon and used effectively.

K Con is a disaster defensively and his skating ability is suspect.

Bieksa and Eddy were kind of MIA down the stretch,not to mention the issue of salary vs Rome.

Rome had a 750k cap hit.Bieksa is swimming in champagne and Eddy will be shortly.

A shot in the dark says Bieksa is not seven times the physical d man that Aaron is.

Imo we still have an Ehrhoff-sized gap to fill on defense.

I dont think this group can move the puck well enough, and I certainly dont think they intimidate anyone. The powerplay aint what it used to be.
