All of you still need to join the league. I know some of you won't have the game for a bit, but those of you who have it please sign up so we can start getting some trades done.

coleman's list of trades(refer to OP, or page 96) must be completed before we start.

I thought I had sent a request a few days ago, I must have sent it to the wrong league. I'm on my way out right now so I'll send it a little later.

Problem: A lot of teams are at max contracts, so anyone getting a 2-for-1 deal runs into problems.

Possible solution: .... trading meaningless draft picks for worthless prospects to even the numbers?

Or you can buyout useless contracts. That's the risk you play with IMO

The only problem with Coleman's trades (and this is just a minor problem) is that with everyone swapping 7th round draft picks, this can lead to problems in future years. Let's say in trade 1 for example, with Anaheim's 7th round pick, Carolina drafts the next Pavel Datsyuk and with Carolina's 7th round pick, Anaheim drafts some guy who never makes the NHL. In theory it should have been Anaheim drafting the next Datsyuk since it was their pick that got him.

Chances of this happening are slim, but if we want to avoid this, teams can trade back all of those draft picks that coleman added.

Datsyuk was a 6th rounder, and Zetterberg was a 7th. I see your point, but I guess we will just have to live with it.

The Panthers are pleased to welcome Radek Faksa to the team. With his already good faceoff rating and size, we feel like he will become our number 1 center in a few years time. We felt like we needed a replacement for Bjugstad who decided to go jacking in San Diego.

Huberdeau(ply)-Faksa(twf)-Skinner(snp)

The future is bright.

Spoiler

We have a new thread everyone.

Secondly Minny quit already... We have a big decision if we should veto his trades as it made no sense for him to rebuild. What do you guys think is fair?

The guy came for a week traded away his whole future then quit....

I'd say veto, personally. It's one thing to make your own trades and have to live with them; it's another to inherit someone else's problems.

In the case of Toronto, there were too many trades that were done to undo them since other teams had already flipped TOR's players in other trades. I don't think this has been the case with MIN (I could be wrong, haven't really payed a lot of attention to his trades), which makes it much less of a headache to do.

Minny only had one d-man, an aging goalie and one maybe 2 stud forwards. It's not that absurd that he decided to re-build.

I wouldn't say absurd, but he was also only 3 players away from being a serious contender. I'm not upset about the rebuild, I'm upset that he drastically changed his team then left right away. The next GM might not rebuild at all; I personally wouldn't be rebuilding Minny so I can understand that someone might not to rebuild them either.

What do you all think? I know Dallas will be crazy upset again, that's understandable but we do have to do what's best for the team. I had a significant deal agreed on with Minny too, but I'm losing out as well.

I say veto. As much as I would like to have a rebuilding team in my division Minnesota is still a playoff team.if the new gm would want to rebuild then the trades could be easily negotiated

They're a borderline playoff team. They only have 1 good d-man.

Chicago, Vancouver, Nashville, Detroit, Colorado, LA, San Jose are all better imo.

Its not a question of whether or not you'd rebuild, its a question of a GM coming in here, blowing up his team and then quitting. Do we really think thats fair especially for the GM taking over. This is different than the Toronto situation players have then been moved multiple times. There are three trades here which all can be easily reversed. What is all your opinions?
