Overeager who isn't even a star in the CHL. He has almost no NHL potential.

Late 7th round maybe?

I just like him cuz he plays for Victoria (where I live)

Shinkaruk. I drafted him in NHL 13, 76 overall 4 and a half star potential. Develops into a beast first line center

Last time we had a lottery we drafted 10th. It's a crap shoot. If you ask me, Max Domi. There's also another elite offensive defencemen out of BC that was ranked in the top 10. I forgot his name.

Players Nikolaj Ehlers have been compared too by the fan base of the Vancouver Canucks.

1 Pavel Bure

2 Markus Naslund

3 Nathan Mackkinon

4 Jonathan Drouin.

5 Jonathan Tavares

combine results.  Ehlers 5'11 162 lbs of solid rock.

I think you're thinking of Shea Theodore?
Plays for Seattle, I doubt he goes top 10, but probably in the 1st round.

At 15 or so I'd target J.T. Compher, or Jacob De la rose. both great 2 way players with the versatility to play center or wing. Other options would be powerforwards Hudson Fasching, Adam Erne or Kerby Rychel

If we went D, Robert Hagg or Morrisey would be options.

A lot of rankings will change between now and then though

If we're lucky with getting that pick, I'd go for Jordan Subban if he was available. He might go top 10 though.

Yes, we should just have our scouts buy NHL 13 and use that as their only scouting tool

Trade for Edmonton's pick because they are obviously getting first dibs again thanks to Gary... Once we have first overall, grab the closest thing to a Gretzky clone we can find :)

If we are lucky we'll be able to pick Jacob De La Rose, great hitter, good skill set and quite speedy.

Because this upcoming draft is FAR and away a more deep draft than the past one, this pick would be a good package deal pick to get a proven future star to eventually replace Hank or Dank (think Lou + this first for...NHL ready guy NOW + NHL ready future star in 2 years ie/ Bjustad etc.) I love the draft but trading picks for guys who have proven more once they hit the key developmental stages (beyond Junior ie/ AHL, NCAA etc.) seems to take a little guess work out of the equation. Also exposes weaknesses when a player has to play tougher competition EVERY night and doesn't have certain teammates to prop up personal stats. That would be my recommendation if I was on the Nucks scouting staff. But alas, I am but a fan now...

How do you reconcile the statements "he's a stud on the ice" with "not very big"? Does that make him a stud midget, or a midget stud?

Tyler Bertuzzi; Todd's nephew.

http://www.mc79hockey.com/?p=4920

the other guy kept punching Bertuzzi past the point at which it’s generally considered appropriate to do so. When you look at the hits that preceded those fights, it becomes clear why. In the first hit, Bertuzzi’s at the bottom of the circle when it becomes clear the defenceman is going to turn; he proceeds to hit from behind and drive his head into the glass anyway. In the second hit, Bertuzzi is 20+ feet away from the defenceman when he releases the puck but he proceeds to blindside him in a dangerous position relative to the boards. I’m no expert on the minds of teenage boys but I’ve played some hockey and those hits are going to make most teams go bananas.

Bertuzzi ended up putting up 117 PIM last year. The breakdown is as follows:

15 – Fighting majors
4 – Head check
2 – Check from behind
4 – Slash
Rough
7 – Rough (coincidental)
Holding
Goalie interference
Tripping
10 minute misconduct

So that’s 6 PIM that arise out of the actual playing of hockey and 111 PIM related to hitting guys from behind, hitting them in the head, slashing them, fighting, posturing after the whistle and generally behaving in an unsportsmanlike fashion. In an interview with the Sudbury Star, he talked about this a little bit:

I'm actually hoping that with the new CBA they will increase the draft age and skip the draft for a year. It would be less of a crap shoot if the kids were a year older.

It's not going to happen, but one can dream.

With so many players making the NHL right after being drafted I can't see this happening. It would be unfair to ellite players that clearly have nothing left to prove in Jr. and are NHL ready at 18.

Sure, there's a few of those each year, but there has to be a way around it. Maybe only allowing guys to be drafted at 18 if it's in the top 10 picks, or the first round? I just think teams would be able to get a better read if the players were a little older.

Jordan Subban is going to be a long term project though, since he needs to finish growing. Right now he is a bit undersized. BUT WITH HIGH REWARD :frantic:

Hunter Shinkaruk is a nice pick.

Lets just win the draft lottery and take Mackinnon!!

Realistically if there is a season, we'll be at the bottom of the barre; I would hope someone like Alex Forsberg, De la Rose or *cross fingers* Jonathan Drouin drops to us.

Probable looking at maybe Max Domi or something if we're lucky.
What is the deal with Mike Gillis, it always seems like he's sweating...
