To tor: luongo, edler, 2014 first, 2013 second, schroeder, sauve

To van: gardiner, 2013 first

We only do this if the lockout lasts the whole year.

think about it, we get a top 5 pick likely.

If the lock-out goes the whole year Edler is UFA and is essentially worthless in a trade

Because if the lockout lasts the whole year...

...We'd lose our minds and do insane things?

If that's the case, the Leafs would already be familiar with doing insane things and be better equipped to get the best out of a trade on that level. They'd have the advantage for once and fleece us out of 2 picks for one of theirs and two players for one of theirs.

If that's not the case, then there's no way in h-e-double-hockey-sticks we'd do that deal.

If this team lets go of Sang he will burn this team next year.

A better summary of that statement is he's either a pending UFA and we can trade him for a reasonable pick, or he's already a UFA and we can't trade him for anything.

Of course, it's still quite likely he gets signed rather than moved, so the whole thread is moot anyway.

So, basically we're dealing Edler and a first for Gardiner and a first...and more or less GIVING them Luo and a 2nd rounder?

jeez, i make one mistake and this? anyway

If the lock-out goes the whole year Edler is UFA and is essentially worthless in a trade

yes, ur right, i totally forgot about that. so we could do a sign and trade, sign edler to whatever he wants, like 5.5 million per yr for 6 years or watever. and then trade that package.

...We'd lose our minds and do insane things?

nope.

if you thought about it, we trade edler for gardiner. luongo, a first, a second, schroeder and sauve for likely a top 5 pick, and possibly a top 2 pick aka seth jones or nathan mackinnon. because the leafs have a much better shot at winning the lotterry then we do. imo they have one of the highest chances of winning it. but we do this before the lottery. and only if the lockout lasts the whole year.
