Great another GM quit especially after he demanded that he get St Louis otherwise he wasn't joining. That was worth kicking JP out of St Louis for... :picard: We should be grateful that he was so flexible and willing to take over any team.

While I'm venting, I might as well continue. We should all be grateful for another GM who joined for one year blew apart the LA Kings, got nothing significant in return and quit right after (actually let me be more accurate; he disappeared, we had to fire him once we saw he re-signed no one). Their top LW is 78 overall, 35 year old Blake Comeau someone I just acquired. I guess the one good thing about St Louis, he didn't wreck it before quitting.

We have a new rule that will be in effect starting July 1 as a glitch has been found with determining how the AI decides which teams gets the player when there is a tie at the auction. This rule will only apply if a team decides to bid maximum contract or on an entry level contract.

Details to follow

There is a reason why Tampa got Doughty, why Vancouver got Hall etc.

We'll let n00b describe it as it was him that brought it to our attention

Due to an issue discovered with how EA breaks ties in the event of tie bids (outlined here - http://forum.ea.com/...st/9295679.page), this new rule will take effect for league maximum bids for both regular players (i.e. Taylor Hall, Drew Doughty) as well as league maximum entry-level contracts for 3.5-star or higher prospects (i.e. Jussi Kuhta).

New rule:

In the event that multiple teams place league maximum bids on a player during free agency, a draw using a random number generator will be used to determine the winner of the player.

In order to qualify for the draw, you must:

  • Inform mpt, publicly or privately, that you have placed a league maximum bid AND the number of years on the player prior to the sim

  • Have adequate cap space after the sim

  • Have enough roster space after the sim

After the sim, the winner of the draw will then trade a 7th round pick to the team that signed the player for the player and a 7th round pick. The trade is to take place as soon as possible.

i.e.

WSH signs PLAYER_X to a 2-year league maximum contract.

ANA wins the draw and, as such, is entitled to PLAYER_X.

To ANA:

PLAYER_X

7th Round Pick

To WSH:

7th Round Pick

We wouldn't have to have this rule if GMs offered more than two years on top free agents just so they can keep their rights.

I say scrap the 2 years rule, and bid accordingly to how many years the free agent wants. If you have to overpay for him, then so be it.

We can make a rule that you can only give an 1 year offer to players over 35 or 77 ovr players.

I understand the problem, but this situation would happen a lot less, if GMs offered more than 2 years to a top free agent.

Do you think GMs would give out the max salary to a player if they offer them 5 or 6 years? I doubt it, no one wants to handicap their team on one player.
