I would do the deal.. But I doubt NYI does. Strome looks more and more like a lock as a top line center.
Don't see NYI movin him. (Even though their center depth is nutty).
I could see Josh Bailey being the odd guy out, and an interesting player for Vancouver (has the tools to be an elite 3C, w/ top-6 production).
That's the reason I give them Schroeder, he's looking promising to be a solid 2nd center and could take on the role full time next year or the year after. Obviously it's going to be bummer losing Strome but they get a huge improvement in net. getting Cory and making some complimentary additions they can be a playoff team by next year. If they start getting in the playoffs, then Tavares will be in his prime by the time Cory is up for contract and it entices him to stay.
IMO they have a better chance lucking out finding a second line centre than a #1 goalie that wants to go there. On top of that, their getting a young one back in the deal already.
Your right, it's a long shot but I bet they would have just as hard of a time turning it down as they would pulling the trigger.
Edit.. I'm only calling him 2nd line centre because of Tavares.. they most likely will go the Crosby Malkin setup
