aGENT
And yet they work with voters.. Seems to be in line with the philosophy expressed by my mentor and guru the late George Carlin: Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that. We saw that in operation during the HST referendum.
Electro Rock
They are pathetic. Any ad that spends more time attacking someone else rather than promoting yourself is pathetic. Talk about character revealing. To promote them is simplemindedness at its worst.
inane
Everyone else tries to do the same thing. Although in the case of the Liberals, their weaksauce fundraising ensures that their comrades in the CBC and other major media outlets have to do the heavy lifting. aGENT
Have to agree with Inane here. I don't want my leaders winning based on how badly they can smear the other guy. Argue and win on your own merits and ideas.
Electro Rock
So your point is because others do it, everyone should? Or what... Again, the race to the bottom mentality of some people is depressing.
silverpig
In this case they have a basis for raising issues of character, competence and inexperience. Keep it simple and stay on message is the key. I am unsure why anyone would be surprised at the ad given Justin's past history. It is a weakness to be exploited and lest we forget politics is the original blood sport. Wetcoaster
Odd coming from you. You're usually the first person on here to call people out for ad hominem attacks. Why just a recently someone criticized the Fraser Institute in response to your posting an article from them about the HST and you called that person out for it. Normally you're about the issues and not the person. Besides, look at Harper's experience before he entered politics. He had a job his father got him in the mail room at Imperial Oil and that's about it. A substitute teacher is probably more qualified to lead the country :D Trudeau should laugh them off and use them to get himself some more airtime. He can plug the liver disease foundation he was fundraising for in one of the videos the Conservatives are using.
silverpig
By the time Harper was elected leader he had a much more impressive resume than Justin. The LPC leadership candidates had much more impressive resumes than Just. So why did he win? His lack of intellect? His lack of accomplishments? His lack of political experience and savvy? His ability to firmly plant one foot in his mouth? His surname?
Jägermeister
Conservatives waste no time, but did they really have to use footage from a fundraiser for liver disease? Well, I suppose it may show poor decision making... when taken out of context.
Electro Rock
Justin attack ads virtually write themselves, is it the CPC's fault that the last few Liberal figureheads are so easily clowned on?
ronthecivil
So long as he pursues "the radical middle" and actual acts like a liberal he should be able to be superior to Conservative social (and for that matter economic) policy and superior to NDP economic policy. Push that out with a pretty face and he can give both a run for their money.
ronthecivil
Race to the bottom. Not the kind of society we should be striving for.

inane
The Left rewrote so many of the rules in this country a long time ago, so they shouldn't whine when they get beaten at their own game despite having so many circumstances in their favor. silverpig
Its just too bad for him the voter base isn't totally composed of old hippies who voted for his dad, as well as residents of Toronto, Montreal and the downtown core of Vancouver, because he's not worth much otherwise. Langdon Algur
And since the election will not be held tomorrow... And by the time of the next election the Canadian electorate will have the opportunity to get to know the poorly qualified and intellectually impoverished leader of the LPC. No more softball questions and being protected by the party, now he will have to stand on his own and all the evidence thus far is that he is incapable of doing so. Wetcoaster
Justin Trudeau has already made himself more available to the media than Harper ever has. Harper is known for chossing which journalists are able to ask him questions and has routinely been critized by the Canadian Association of Journalists for his "white-knuckled death grip on public information".
