<table width=90% align=center><tr><td><img src=http://cdn.nhl.com/canucks/images/upload/2007/09/kesler_blog.jpg border=0 align=left vspace=2 hspace=6>It’s still hard to believe that the season’s over already and that this will my last blog for the year.

This year definitely had its ups and downs - I mean I don’t have to tell you guys, you’ve all lived it with us. It was a tough year with all the injuries we’ve had to deal with but it as a really good group of guys this year and we’ve dealt with everything pretty well. There’s been a lot of adversity and narrowly missing the playoffs was so tough but we have to move on and be better next year.

Coming into training camp, I was really excited and I really wanted to prove myself because I didn’t get to play much last year with the injuries. It was tough having to sit out for most of the year so coming back for me this year was huge. This year, I not only had to prove to myself but also to my team and the fans, that I’m even more capable of being a good player. It was great to stay healthy and play out a full season, it’s just unfortunate it ended earlier than any of us wanted.

People keep saying that the silver lining of this year is that I’ve achieved career numbers but they don’t really matter that much to me. Personally, I judge how I play on team success. I would’ve taken two goals this year for the playoffs. I’d much rather have that than personal success but it didn’t work out that way so we’ll work towards next year and hopefully have another career best year.

<a target="_blank" href="http://cdn.nhl.com/canucks/images/upload/2008/04/040308_oil02_b.jpg"><img vspace="1" hspace="4" border="0" align="right" alt="" src="http://cdn.nhl.com/canucks/images/upload/2008/04/040308_oil02_t.jpg" /></a>Hopefully this isn’t the best for me – next year the goal is to make the playoffs and continue improving my game and becoming a better player and a better person.

In the midst of an already emotional couple of weeks, the last game of the year was definitely up there with the support from the fans and the ovation they gave to Trevor. I think I speak on behalf of the team that the fans were so great that game – we just can’t say enough about them. We all knew that before the game was over that it was going to mean a lot to Trevor, to the city, and to the team. We were getting beat down pretty bad there and they were still cheering for him and it was so special to see.

Coming in as an 18 year old, Trevor kind of took me under his wing and basically taught me how to be a pro and become a pro so I’d have to thank him a lot for that. The thing I admire most about him is without a doubt, his character. He gets along with all the guys and no matter what, he never complains and always gives it his all. He’s just an amazing person and whatever decision he chooses to make, it will be the right one.

She’s due mid-May and can fly up until April 20th so it's better we leave earlier but I think it’ll be good for both of us to be near family when she arrives. We’ve decided on Mackayla (not sure on spelling yet), which is the name I chose and my wife gets the middle name, Rylan. I just can’t wait to get to hold her. It’ll be exciting and between that and getting ready for next season, I’ll be pretty busy. I’m sure my time will be taken up and we’ll get to start the season again.

It's weird this will be my last entry, I still remember thinking I'll probably have nothing to write about when I first started. Hopefully I lived up to expectations (and maybe did a little better than Burr - I hear his blogs were great). Thanks to everyone for your comments and following the blog this year.</td></tr></table>

Hey Ryan .... THANK YOU for your entertaining blogs all season long ..... I wish you and Andrea the best when baby Macaela/Mackayla ( whatever you spell her name - it's beautiful) arrives ... enjoy the summer!!

When it comes to Trevor, he is MR.CANUCK without a doubt ... I really hope he plays another season ( 20 years would be better than 19) , I was there at the last game ... and wow ... I cried so much that night - hetruly deserved all of the chanting and cheering ... what he did to this city is just amazing!! I thought it was ironic how all the chanting would be in front of Mike Keenan ( can't stand that man for trading him away) so kudos to the fans!! :)

Have a wonderful summer and can't wait till September when you come back and you WILL make the playoffs and you WILL win the Cup in 2009!!! Thank you for your best season yet Ryan !!

GO CANUCKS GO!!!

I wouldnt call it goodbye Ryan. More of a 'See ya Later'.

You have had one hell of a season, I cant begin to imagine the frustration you felt through the end here, and Im sure youve heard it before... But.. dont let it get ya down. Us fans stand behind you and this team 100%. You may not believe it, but your one of the top 5 key , biggest impact players on this team. Without you there would be a huge hole in this team's makeup that would NOT be easily filled. We are fortunate to have you, and I can only hope you continue your increasingly impressive career here as a Canuck.

Congrats to you and your wife, I wish you guys the best in the offseason with your new expected edition. Me and my wife just had our first 2 months ago, unforgettable experience.

Have a great off season and we look forward to a bounce back season for the Canucks next year!

Man, I can't believe I just found out about these blogs, I missed so much. I just finished reading everything and I would just like to say thank you for all your effort this year and for writing these blogs. You were one of the most consistent players this year and definitely emerged as a premier shut down player. I can't wait to see how far you'll go (hopefully with the Canucks all the way to a Stanley cup or 2, eh?). I am looking forward to next year, hopefully you'll write the blogs next year also, I'll definitely be looking out for them.

P.S. Congratulations on the baby, Mackayla is a very nice name.

Hi Ryan!

It definitly is very tough to say goodbye. It was a crazy season and unfortunately, it just didn't happen. You were a great player all year, and really were a huge part of this team! It's going to be great to see you back here next year and hopefully play the same way! I hope that everything goes beyond excellent for you, Andrea and the baby. Mackayla Rylan is a beautiful name :) It will be niece for you guys to be home when she's born. Anywhoo, once again thanks for taking the time all through this year to write, I know that all the fans really enjoy it! Alrighty, have a great off-season, and enjoy being a dad come mid-May. :) Go Canucks Go!

Hey Kes ! . . . You played awesome this year ! . . I must say I personally think your best game this year was the one against pittsburg. Even tho it was a losing effort . . U shut down crosby and got him whining and slaming his stick on the way to the box when he took a lousy penalty at the end of the first.

Then got the first goal for the nuckies too ! That was the only game i got a chance to go to but it sure was a douzy !!!!

Have a great summer !!!! And good luck next season !!!!!!

Hey Kes,

You were awesome this year. Your effort was unreal!! It sucks that we didn't get into the playoffs, but there's always next season. Best of luck to your wife during the last month of her pregnancy and for a safe and speedy labour! Have a great summer being a dad! Can't wait to see you again in September! GO 'NUCKS GO!!!

Your words were very moving Ryan, especially with the portion about Trevor and also the fact that I could almost hear the disappointment in your voice with missing the playoffs. Even though fans were disappointed with no playoffs, you are still the Canucks and we love you anyways. We know there are good things to come, we just need a healthy team. The one game of the season I attended was the final one and even though the score was less than ideal, I would not have missed it for the world. The support you guys as a team showed for Trev even though the score... well sucked, was amazing. Once again, good luck with McKayla or however you end up spelling it. (McKaela?) Enjoy your summer and see you next season!
