  1. Well, if a player is 5'11 and the other is 6'0, one of them is called undersized and the other is considered avg by the media. 1 inch may not be a huge deal but he is bigger and faster than him.
  2. Kane, Cammalleri, Gionta, Gallagher, Helm, Skinner, Giroux, Duchene, Briere, Boyle, Marchand... They're all under 6'0 and playing pretty well. Also, Schroeder was drafted in the 20's. Ehlers and Nylander are projected to go in the top 10... This myth about players being small being bad isn't true. Almost every team has somebody thats small.
  3. I like to live in the real world. You know, the world which won't see Reinhart fall out of the top 3 or Dal Colle/Draisaitl fall out of the top 5. MAYBE Dal Colle, but even that is a stretch. I gave my reasons for saying these were the only 2 options in the original post. (Benning wants speed and skill) Virtanen brings speed but no skill, Ritchie brings avg speed and no skill.
  4. *weight He plays a style that isn't effective in the NHl. he runs over dmen. He won't be able to do that in the NHL. The dmen in the WHL and dmen in the NHL are 2 completely different things. Also, if Ehlers can bulk up and hit 180Ibs, he'll be the same weight as Kane. Kane isn't 200+Ibs, but he puts up a hell of a lot of points.
  5. Well, looks like Nylander blew every1 out of the water. I honestly don't know y tho. Ehlers does everything he does, but better and with more size. I just watched the highlights again and man, this dude can flat out FLY. Not only can he fly, but he can also handle the puck extremly well at that speed. Even against elite dmen, I think he'll be able to make them look silly.
  6. So is Ehlers... Except Ehlers is faster, more agile, has better agility and is a bit worse in puck handling.
  7. I'm going to assume this a joke because Schroeder is 5'9 and is ONLY speed and nothing else.
  8. I like to think my voice is being heard- whether it is or isn't doesn't matter.
  9. Nylander = Backstrom or Skinner Ehlers = Patrick Kane, Drouin, Bure? I'm not really good w/ comparisons, but Ehlers definatly reminds me of either Kane or Drouin
  10. I know this topic has been beat to death, brought back to life and beat to death again, but I thought I'd share who the Canucks should draft. The way I see it, the Canucks have 2 options at the #6 spot: Nylander or Ehlers. The other guys are all great players as well, but it's too high to take them at #6 (Virtanen, Fleury, Perlini, Fiala, Kapanen), or they don't fit the bill of a fast, skilled team (Ritchie), like Benning said. Since we will be using the 6th and 36th picks in the draft, I say we pick 1 of these guys. Here’s a breakdown of each: William Nylander Pros: -incredibly skilled in puck handling -great passer -quick -genes of former NHLer -great vision -high hockey IQ -accurate shot w/ good release -ripped it up at the U18’s -plays in harder league w/ grown men Cons: -defensive game is bad -inconsistent -too small -“greedy”, holds onto puck too long/ doesn’t use teammates enough -tries to do too much at times -needs to add velocity to shot -unimpressive stats Nikolaj Ehlers Pros: -speedy -good hands -hard, accurate, elite level shot -great balance, hard to knock him off the puck -good passer -great vision -not afraid to go to “dirty areas” an isn’t 1 dimensional in terms of where he goes on the ice -high hockey IQ -amazing stats (100+ points, +51, 1 goal away from 50 goals) -can be a playmaker or a sniper -unselfish Cons: -inflated stats due to playing in Q and playing w/ Drouin -too small -defense needs work MY CHOICE: Ehlers. Less of a risky pick than Nylander, w/ the same upside. I think he can put up 60+ every season as long as he puts on some muscle since he’s 6’0. Thoughts?
  11. This is scarily becoming the norm now. We need some damn gun control or at least some better background checks. Not sure how this idiot got a gun, but the only thing that matters is that he's already killed 3, injured 2 and is still running around. I don't want Canada to become like the US in terms of gun violence...
  12. What r u smoking? Ritchie, Virtanen and Fleury are not dropping to the 20's moron...
  13. Trade Tanev then. I like Tanev, but if we can get Edler back into All-Star form, I'd be willing to get rid of almost anybody...
  14. To Buffalo: Markstrom, Mathias, 2nd and Booth To Van: Ehrhoff (10 % retain) and 2nd Pair Edler w/ Ehroff and you've got Edler back in top form. It's clear that Linden and Benning don't want to rebuild but realize a change needs to be made. I don't think Benning trades Edler OR Kesler. Him and Linden like the core players we have and want to compliment them w/ faster, more skilled players.
  15. Well, riddle me this, y the hell is there a place called "Proposals and Armchair GM'ing?" The whole point of sectioning off that area is for ppl who think of new ideas to improve the team, to present them and get constructive criticism. Other teams around the league have this sort of thing too. Do you honestly think anybody in Canuck management, the media or the players give a damn what people are saying on CDC? If, anything, this thread adds to the problem as you've created quite a divide between fans here. Time to look in the mirror...
  16. I don't get why Manziel did the $ thing, he lost around $12m from going 3rd to 22nd. Obviously he's still going to get paid like a mofo but still... $12m is a lot.
  17. Alright, I've seen people's opinions and I think we should just trade the 6th OVR pick. Here it is: To WPG: 1st 2014 Van (6th pick) To Van: Kane Why WPG does it: Kane is a nuisance for Winnipeg. They’re just trying to get rid of him for a fair deal. They’re also going into (another?) rebuild. They should try to accumulate draft picks and this trade lets them do that. At this point, they’ll take what they can get for him. This gives them the 6th pick, along w/ their 9th pick. This gives them 2 top 10 picks which they can use to add to their prospect pool, or, they can use them to trade up and get into the top 5. They need to get more prospect wingers and there are loads on the board between 6 and 9 (Virtanen, Ehlers, Nylander, yes, he can play wing, Perlini, Ritchie, Kapanen). They can turn that franchise around quickly too. Why Van does it: 6th is probably the worst place to draft in this draft. If one of the top 5 falls to us, then screw this deal and grab them. The only I would want us to make this deal would be because there are way too many question marks surrounding Ehlers, Virtanen, Ritchie, Perlini and Nylander. There is no doubt in my mind that Kane just needs to get out of the Peg. He’ll grow up under Torts and will be held accountable for his actions. The Sedins and other characters on the team won’t let him get out of line, something that was and is still missing in Winnipeg. He’ll also be playing in his home province, where he played w/ the Giants of the WHL. This year’s draft isn’t the strongest and Kane is more of guarantee than any of the others. He can still grow into a legit top line player (he was drafted 4th OVR), something I’m not sure the other prospects can do.
  18. Last year was a huge fluke. They won't leave the basement.
  19. Their fans know they're going to suck next year...
  20. Buffalo will draft Reinhart or Bennett w/ the 2nd pick. They wouldn't want to draft another center 3 picks later. They'd probably draft MDC so he could play w/ one of the Sam's. No point in getting 2 potential top line centers. They'd rather get a different position. Plus I think MDC is the BPA at that pick
  21. http://stats.iihf.com/Hydra/368/IHM368000_85B_10_0.pdf. He's got 5 points. Not a lot, but he's still leading Canada...
