  1. Would be a great signing for Vancouver, Myers would be a great addition and would pair nicely with Edler, which when healthy would put Tanev with Hughes.

After that we need to either trade Erickson for Lucic or take on Reaves from Vegas as a cap dump and we are looking a lot better.  Adding Pool party in a Lucic deal or other deal would be great.  Ehlers in Winnipeg would also be a great addition but would be hard cap wise

Neither would I that is why I like the Miller deal. Not a rental and a better player.

Miller is better than Hayes I agree, Winnipeg’s pick is also very likely a worse pick to give up.  Our 1st rounder still has a very good potential to be a lottery pick.  Time will tell if it was worth the risk.

Miller IMO is likely not the best player in the next two years we could use a 1st round pick to acquire, vs Winnipeg who was trying to win a Stanley cup and was one of the front runners to do so.

If we miss the playoffs we retain our pick..  if we make the play offs no one is going to like that?

The odds of us being a bottom 10 team again are low. Especially if Boeser is healthy all year and has a good off season. Hughes in the line up all year, and and, if another offensive minded d man is acquired?

I'll bet JB gets another first of high end prospect before July 1st anyway.

We don’t retain the pick, we still give them a 1st, just the next year.  Either way he costs us a 1st

you've just made the term "cap dump' meaningless.

You're applying it to a player that is EASILY worth his cap hit. Tampa's tight cap situation does not make MIller a 'cap dump'

If you're determined to talk absolute nonsense, carry on.  Or carry on backtracking - whatever.

Referring to Miller as a "cap dump" is contrived nonsense, and you know it.

Actually cap dump is a term when teams need to dump cap.  Exactly what Tampa did.  Cap dump is not for getting rid of a bad contract.  There is a reason words have meaning, not my problem you have different definitions

Oh - you "like the player" now.

A couple hours ago you were calling him a "cap dump".

It is a cap dump for Tampa, they need the cap dump.

Lucic is a cap dump for Edmonton too, and I like the player.

Marleau was a cap dump and I like the player.

Whats your point?  Would I let a team fleece me out of a 1st and 3rd when you know they have cap problems?  Hell no.

Cap dump for Tampa, overpayment for a decent player for Vancouver yup!

And if that 1st becomes a 23rd-25th pick? Or better yet a bust?

Problem with evaluating a 1st is that people are assigning a high value to it despite it not being a known value yet.

If you look at the odds, the majority of 1st round picks don't become impact players. But everyone is fearing the worst here.

If its a late 1st, no biggie, no clear evidence that our pick will be anywhere near there.  We aren’t like the Penguins where you can assume a playoff spot.  We could easily be a top 10 pick as much as a 20-31 pick.  Likely in the 10-16 realm.

The bigger problem is, do you really think in the next two years we couldn’t fetch a player better than Miller with a 1st round pick involved.  We now have to hold onto a 1st round pick due to the condition in this trade.

If you think Miller is the best player that we can acquire in the next two years that needs a 1st rounder to acquire, then go ahead and make the trade.  This trade doesn’t seem like very good asset management to me.

One is entering his prime and the other is passed his best before date would rather have Miller and I like Lucic.

That NMC is a no go for me.

    Doesn’t Miller have one?

Dont get me wrong, I’d rather have Miller over Lucic.

Again I like the player, I dont like the trade.

We can no longer trade a 1st round pick for two years.  Do we really think Miller is the best player in the league that we can acquire using a 1st round pick over the next 2 seasons? I have a hard time believing that.

Miller isn't a bag of pucks. Your cluelessness is showing again...

    Miller isn’t a bag of pucks, he’s worth supposedly a 1st and a 3rd.

Lucic is worth a bag of pucks

You justify his value with stats, Lucic has similar stats, which costs more?  I’d rather give up a bag of pucks than a 1st round pick

I like the acquisition but the expense of the deal in terms of the 1st is painful.  Still, if Hayes can get $7M per year then $5.25M for Miller over the next 4-years might very good value especially if he can gel in the top-6 and increase his production.

I’d rather give up 1.75 million a season to keep a 1st round pick

Maybe if fans weren’t so negative he’d have an extension and wouldn’t be pressured into this move then.

If that’s the case, I relish the comeuppance bestowed upon the whiners.

(honestly, JB has always made moves to attempt to improve the roster and this fits with the majority of his moves.  That’s why people whine so much.)

If you are pressured by fans and you make decisions because of them; you should be fired instantly
