  1. Lucas Johansen a 2016 draft eligible player is a pretty good skater, physical and can move the puck well. I like his game, but the top line of Kelowna is deadly, not very flashy but they skate well, hit, battle but can finish and have good chemistry.

3-0 Kelowna, playing so well, they are a very well structured team. Merkley will definitely be a top 10 pick if he keeps playing like how he is, always involved in the play unlike Bittner who is pretty much invisible even though he's playing with Petan and Bjorkstand.

Kelowna will be a hard team to beat, I think London or Erie have the best chance to beat Kelowna but they don't have a #1 defenceman like Bowey, in the WHL it might be Brandon. They got Pilon, Provorov on the back-end and a strong forward group with tons of depth.

  2. I would say Ritchie is more meaner, like that kid finishes every check and nails you. He intimidates the crap out of other players, during the SSS the Russian player noticed Ritchie was coming at him so he avoided the hit but didn't move the puck much, Ritchie picked it up went to the high slot and shot, rebound to Domi scores. Ritchie is more of a compliment player to a skilled player because Ritchie can get open and shoot the puck well and finish well.

Virtanen is physical and I liked how he doesn't back down, Russian player tried to get him out of the way after the whistle infront of the goalie and Virtanen stared right into him and didn't move a bit. Virtanen can drive a line, he can zip down the wing and fire a slapper for a goal. He can forecheck hard and plays a fast game, but can find holes in the defence and once he gets open he can fire a quick shot or one-timer for a goal.

I love these type of players, I'd like Horvat to centre these 2 big players. You can tell we are going with a fast, physical and big team team. The kids Benning drafted are big and/or physical, Pettit, Tryamkin, Stewart, McCann, Virtanen.

  3. 3 possession game, 2 possession game if we can score a TD on this drive.

We got absolutely crushed defensively when MTL ran the ball on the last drive, the D-linemen need to get off their blocks and make a tackle instead of just taking up a block and hoping Bighill or Elimimian make a tackle. Add another LB if they have to, force them to pass.

  4. No roster spots available.

Bo has to play right now.

Well put somebody injured on IR, we had room if we wanted to. Cap space shouldn't be a problem or roster spots because Dorsett, Vrbata, Kassian, Sbisa and Sestito have been out for 2 games now.
  5. Well his team will have to win the OHL first if they want to go to the Memorial Cup for the 3rd time in a row.

Also, when are WJC camps usually? There are 8 games left in November, and if we go by your idea of switching Horvat and Vey, that leaves Bo with only 1 more game to play in December before going to the WJC. And I think it may be Dorsett instead of Vey that rotates (if we go that route) because of his offense.

Getting some healthy bodies back will be crucial to stretch Bo's 9 games for sure.

Yeah I should have said competing in the Memorial Cup Playoffs.

The camps are usually announced early December, the last 2 years were announced on the 2nd and 3rd. The next week, they'll start practicing, getting together and then play some university select team. A week after all that, they play exhibition games against other national teams, they haven't announced which 3 teams they'll play in exhibition yet though, that will take place on the 19th, 21st, 23rd.

One thing I'm not clear on is what they do from the week they practice and face on university selects to the week they play exhibition games. Maybe back to their CHL teams for like 1-2 games?

Dorsett and Vrbata seem like the ones to come back the fastest because looking at the injuries & ice chips thread it seems that Kassian is out for a while. Sestito might come back soon because he's been hurt for a week.

Although, Horvat has 5 games remaining which seems pretty short but it's actually about 2 weeks until that game so plenty of time for our injured players to come back.

  6. I thought he got named to the subway classic isnt this the subway classic? lol what am i watching

The Super Series is Russia vs WHL/OHL/QMJHL all stars. Right now, WHL will play 2 games against Russia right now and tomorrow, then OHL vs Russia in a 2 game series next week, then QMJHL vs Russia in a 2 game series a couple weeks from now.

  7. Russian player got nailed, getting stretchered off. Yep, it's on, it's going to get dirty and cheap especially with Bragin coaching Russia.

They're has been alot of hits early in the game.

  8. Klimchuk-Reinhart ( C ) -Virtanen
    Baillie-Bleackley-Descheneau
    Ully-Petan(A)-Point
    Chase-Quenneville-Hawryluk
    Fleury-Morrissey(A)
    Sanheim-Bowey
    Heatherington-Hicketts
    Theodore
    Comrie
That's the lines, hopefully Virtanen can load up on the points playing along side Reinhart.
  9. I think this is on the right track and the question is how to space out his 9 games so that he can be loaned out to the world junior squad without forcing the issue of whether he is definitively returned to junior for the rest of the year. Horvat may not be top 9 on the big club just yet, but he's a very strong 4C and is clearly solidifying our ability to win faceoffs. If we didn't have so much depth at forward, we'd be extatic to have him over someone like Ebbett in previous years. So I suspect the plan is to see if he can sustain his strong play until game 9 approaches, and then maybe put him in the press box until they can lend him to the wjc squad. If we don't miss him over that time, he ends up back in London but if we do, it's a chance to move some other forward(s) and make some room for him. The latter wouldn't surprise me at all since he's been as solid as anyone could have hoped so far.

Yeah if we were healthy I think we'd see him coming out a couple of games to let in one of Hansen/Vey/Dorsett who'll likely be scratched.

    Higgins-Bonino-Burrows

    Matthias-Richardson-Kassian

    Hansen-Horvat/Vey-Dorsett

We can switch Horvat and Vey every other game so when his 9 games are up he'll be sharp for the World Juniors and it won't really feel as big as a disappointment to be sent down because he has to focus on playing for Canada and already it'll be January. He'll be trying to get his team into the playoffs, playoffs will come in 3-4 months and he's competing for the Memorial Cup.

This really makes it feel like a fast year in junior for Horvat. Unfortunately, we are pretty banged up so it looks like he's playing every game till his 9 games are up unless our injured players come back pretty fast.

  10. I just have to say something about the Russia defencemen during the 2014 World Juniors. They were all massive, all looked like giants and were physical. The Americans, Canadians, Europeans were fast and got the puck first on the forecheck but when they had their back turned toward the defencemen, they got nailed right into the wall. Not many penalties were called but those Russia defencemen were looking to kill others, every chance they got they would rail players into the boards.

I wasn't sure which was Tryamkin but they were all giants, all very physical.

I still remember Tryamkin offensively though, he's actually a really good skater like Sbisa, he played on the PP and PK.

  11. If Horvat plays his 9 games straight he'll be sent down on the 23/24 (assuming he'll be sent down). The December camp roster is announced at the beginning of December so he'll only have to wait 1 week to start practicing, playing exhibition games and then going back to London for a few games then back to the World Junior squad.

He won't be playing much in London so he's going from the NHL to a couple games in London back to big games at the World Juniors. I expect him to be sharp if he gets sent down because he's coming off time with the Canucks.

  12. Playoffs are only a game per round so it isn't all that bad toward us since we're slumping into the playoffs and if we can just get groove back we can get some confidence and win.

Hoping Saskatchewan wins and Hamilton wins. I don't know whether I want Toronto or Hamilton but I'd rather prefer Hamilton just because they seem a bit weaker and Ray + Owens are some serious damage.

  13. 2 possession game, hopefully we score here and stop them still alot of time to play.

They're kicking it, ugh, that doesn't do anything. Only 9 mins to play and it would still be a 2 possession game.
