  1. TD, Manny show!!! Glenn looked great that drive, hope he can play like that for the rest of the game.

Lalji was saying something about Marsh's injury than I think it was Cuthbert who said it might be his last game in BC Place. Does he have a career threatening injury or something?

Edit: Nevermind just read that it was personal issues. Can't release Marsh. Banks was terrible but Marsh is even worse, you gotta keep this guy till he retires, he's a beast.

  2. Not to mention the couple of kids in the 'Zoo (probably not what they call it there) who are playing well so far for the Wings. Allows Utica players to get called up to the NHL without really destroying the talent on their own roster.

Yeah, we just go to keep adding onto that with draft picks and not trade alot of our picks for a couple years. Kind of like how Detroit does it.
  3. virtanen hits is a fast skater works hard and can score and led canada u17 at junior tourny last yr not sure how how he doesnt have good hockey iq. nylander will turn out to be a good player for leafs but is 2 yrs away from the show hes needs to gain some muscle whereas jake had a nhl body at 17 but had a hurt shoulder in 3 yrs virtanen could gain a few more inches in height and weigh in at 225-230 and be one of the fastest power forwards in the league watch out the nhl will be owned that kid has some hands to.

Ritchie will be a bust he looks slow and fat conditioning coaches need to be hired for the tubby good thing leafs didnt pick him nonis would have to fight him for the donuts and kfc bucket.

    Hahaha.

  4. Looks like I win this round Plum :P

I'm actually almost more interested to see what Vey can do with this opportunity than watching Horvat have a solid but likely quiet first game.

Yeah your was more accurate. I didn't really expect the 4th line to get alot done offensively with Horvat replacing Vey there. Matthias played on with Richardson and Kassian, that was a solid line so I have a hard time seeing Matthias scratched but he might because of our depth. Hansen is probably another one who'll be considered to be scratched.

When Burrows comes back that's when things will become even more interesting, my guess is:

    Higgins - Bonino - Burrows

    Matthias - Richardson - Kassian

    Dorsett - Horvat - Vey

    Hansen

The organizational depth we have now is really good compared to previous years, say we hit 2-3 injuries we have Jensen, Gaunce, Shinkaruk to call-up and even O'Reilly, Zalewski, Jeffrey and Lain who can fill in on the bottom 6.

  5. I think some will be coming to the conclusions that he is a defensive centre after his games with the Canucks with some overreacting. He is a bit raw offensively IMO but he'll be playing like a veteran defensively.

  6. Sadly I agree that since we're winning as is, I doubt he tinkers with that line. IMO, we're a far better team when we have one of Burrows/Higgins on the third line (and one on the second).

My posted lineup's not a "what will be" it's a "what it should be" IMO.

I have a hard time seeing us better with a 6-3 record, it could happen but we're alreadying doing better as expected.

  7. Move Burrows to the third then.

Maybe if Kassian plays like how he did yesterday more often. I don't imagine Willie mixing up the lines that much to fit Horvat in since we are playing well, that would kill alot of chemistry that was developed.

  8. Matthias would be in the press box IMO.

    Sedin, Sedin, Vrbata

    Burrows, Bonino, Vey/Kassian

    Higgins, Richardson, Vey/Kassian

    Dorsett, Horvat, Hansen

Now THAT is quality depth on all four lines IMO.

Yeah he finally showed up to play last night. More of that and Horvat may be sent back to London. But if that was just a flash that's only going to show up every 5-10 games... he'll soon be replacing Sestito's spot IMO.

The 4th line still doesn't have enough offence to me, I think Horvat can do better beside Kassian and Richardson who bring grit, offence and defence. Can't really see Higgins getting off Bonino's line, they're doing well together. Vey is playing well on the 4th line being sheltered. When Horvat comes back I see the line-up as:

    Higgins - Bonino - Burrows/Kassian

    Richardson - Horvat - Kassian/Burrows

    Dorsett - Vey - Hansen

Balanced line-up, 3rd line can play hard minutes, 4th line (3B) can play the offensive minutes in the bottom 6, they can be our 2nd/3rd best offensive line IMO.

  9. Thing is, Vey's offense would do better with higher quality line mates on higher lines IMO. And Bo brings better defense more appropriate to the role.

Mathias hasn't been quiet, he's been inconsequential at best and plain bad at worse. Again, we'll see but I don't find it unreasonable to think Horvat could do better and improve quickly.

I disagree. Vey is still raw, it's his rookie season and he should be sheltered on the 4th line bringing offence with 2 relentless wingers. Hansen and Dorsett are puck hounders and bring something unique to Vey who is a more cerebral player, isn't a great skater but he has the smarts and skill to set his wingers up for goals.

Having Matthias on the 3rd line gives us more depth on the other 4 lines. Richardson's line can take minutes against hard competition, it gives more opportunity for our 4th line to feast on 3rd pairings. Teams with injuries are sheltering their bottom-pairing defencemen if it is weak and that is where having a quality 4th line comes into play, Vey is developing this year and he'll get better teammates at times if injuries hit.

Matthias gives us a sort of weaker 4th line if he is pushed down.

I think Horvat fits on the 3rd line taking Richardson's spot, pushing Richardson to the wing. Matthias gets scratched, the 4th line stays the same.

  10. Unless we're getting nailed with 3-4 injuries we're fine. Defence has been been playing fine when they're healthy, Corrado could be sheltered on the 3rd pairing if we need to call him up. Andersson was solid in pre-season, Sanguinetti might get a call-up.

  11. I'd like Hutton to play out his NCAA career. The NCAA is good hockey and many players can jump into the NHL right away, or the AHL with ease. He'll come more developed and we aren't in need of immediate help for defencemen.

  12. Demko with 23 saves with only 1 goal against with 4 mins left in the 2nd against Colorado College who isn't a very good team.

Boston College is going to a pretty solid team in years to come with Savage, Santini, McCoshen, Matheson, Tuch and Hanifin all playing there.

  13. Eagles played sick tonight. Giants O-line is terrible though, I don't really think the pass rush was all that good, Trent Cole just threw the O-line's hands down and ran to get the sack. Cole is pretty dangerous but I don't think the defence will be all the great like tonight against better teams. McCoy is finally playing well, Sproles is looking sharp and Foles has alot of time in the pocket.

If the defence is just good enough, Philadelphia might make it out to the NFC Finals.
