  1. Lu was not "replaced" per say, Schneider got to play that game as Lu was mentally beaten by the Hawks and needed a break. Look what happened when he came back game 7... A performance of a life time.
  2. I really dislike how people do this, take something good Lu did, and take it away from him because "well they just couldn't score" But when Lu does something bad, it's like we have to pick out every little detail. They couldn't score because of the 6'3" wall in front of the net.
  3. The Hawks had the best starting 5 in the league. The Canadiens had a hot Carey Price. Vezina Candidate and a Norris Candidate is nothing to scoff at, The flyers had no goalies. The Sharks made it to WCF again... how is that not showing? Lightning though were a pretty even match. The Canucks did have a pretty tough road to the SCF, but there is no "easy" road.
  4. Great research! Props to you, sheds a new view upon the whole situation
  5. I just think you're a troll at this point, you bring nothing to the debate and full on resort to name calling. I do not dislike anyone on this forum, and really feel you should start respecting other peoples opinions by having a valid counter point.
  6. "Spot on" as someone once said... and also Sneer, said 1 thing that has an credibility everything else is just slander. "So stop telling everyone how it is kid." You are not some type of all seeing hockey oracle. You are a fictional Internet character that has no clue what that teams psyche is or was. Actually, I am a real life person with real life experiences. My point was there are many things that lead up up to a goal, it doesn't always have to do with the tendy. The goalie is the last line of defense, so take some of your blame and throw it on the team.
  7. in 1998-1999 1999-2000 2000-2001 2001-2002 Brodeurs stats were "average" did you see anyone clamoring on about how Brodeur is "average" now? No, everyone was still talking about how Brodeur is an amazing goalie.
  8. Grant Fuhr is a legend, and that is what his career was based upon When hasn't he been out-standing?? When Edler/Beiksa/Higgins are coughing up the puck? Why did the opposing team get the puck? People blame Lu for Bergeron scoring on that short-handed break away... But what about what happened to lead to that break-away? I have a question for you? Have you ever played Ice Hockey, let alone been a goal-tender at a competitive and organized level?
  9. So it's unfair for us to bring up when Lu plays amazing in the past... If we do that we are living in the past... Yet you guys bring up stuff from 07 08 09 10 playoffs... I can pick and choose series too and make Luongo look like a god. The fact is, Luongo has career stats that are way above many many many goal tenders (all time as well). You say Chicago series? I say Dallas series. You say Chicago series again? I say Nashville You say Boston away games? I say Boston home games. Yes Lu has had his ups and downs, but his record shows he's had more ups than downs. Yes his downs came at poor times but every goalie falters. The thing is though, when its the Goalie faltering, a lot of the time it stems from the team faltering too. Sometimes goalies just have bad games as well but usually it stems from the team as a whole.
  10. Whens the last time our goal scorers blew another team out of the water or had a huge comeback with 3-4 goals, in the play-offs. My point being Luongos been an outstanding goalie on a non outstanding team the past two years.
  11. What's funny is my "ideas" have all been statistics. Between you variable, Cyril, and all the other Lu haters on this board, you guys don't do anything aside from bring up Lu's blow-outs as reasons why he "sucks". In 2010-2011 season, Lu was god in Vancouvers eyes. and then when he didn't win the cup or Vezina almost everyone, mostly bandwagoners like yourself.(Bandwagoning isn't just for teams) Jumped on the Lu hate train. He didn't have a bad 2011-2012 season, yes Cory's numbers were better than Luongos that year... But Lu also played more games. I guarantee you when Schneider starts playing 40-50 games a season he will not post those same stats. Once again, Cory is a phenomenal goaltender and has a bright future ahead of him. I predict a Vezina out of him if he can stay in the east. in the 2012-2013 Luongo lost his starting position the PLAY-OFFS of 2012... The general consensus was Luongo was the best player on the ice. Cory played outstanding, but it did not change the out-come of the series, therefore Cory did not do anything Luongo couldn't. Cory then failed to hold the starting position at the beginning of the year and had to battle Lu for it. The team as a whole played horribly that year due to significant amounts of injuries to core players. Lu AND Schneids were playing behind a shadow of what the Canucks are. That 7-2 blow-out against Edmonton was Edmonton playing against an AHL team and Luongo standing on his head for the better part of 60 minutes... Even the best Goalie will fatigue with poor defense. Not to mention it was a shortened season. Ask anyone who knows anything about the sport of hockey or the NHL and they will let you know that Luongo was mishandled severely.. .He should have never been a back-up... Could the Canucks have gone with a younger talent? Yea sure, but trade Lu so he can go start on another team. They should have traded Schneider or Lu 2 years ago, end of story. So that is where I "come up with my ideas" now I'm going to wait for a meaningless 1 line comeback or some form of name calling.
  12. The position was mismanaged period.. There is no way to argue that. Schneider should have never been the starter.. Can he be a starter? Yes of course... But ahead of Lu, Brodeur, or any proven starter? No.
  13. Exactly, Grant Fuhr was considered "elite" but with-out his team backing him up with goals (and cocaine) he would not have faired well...Not knock Fuhr... but he could let in 4-5 goals because his team could score 6-7
  14. :S pretty sure that's the 1st shot I've ever taken at Cory... I really like Schneids I even bought his Millionaires Jersey. My point was people are so quick to fault Lu for a loss but when Cory lost it was the Canucks. Luongo stole us Nashville with Kesler, His stellar preformance and robbing Saad?(Sharp?) in OT game 7 stole us the series and Lu stole 3 games in the SCF outright... He lost Van Game 3 and 6 in my opinion. Game 4 was just weak play overall by the Canucks and game 7 Lu did what he could, once again a failure as a whole team. Lu also gave the Canucks every chance to win those first 2 games against SJS, even if he only let 1 in in the 1st game.. .Our only goal was off Raffi Torres. Reffing, diving and undisciplined Canucks was the story of that series... Not Lu, he should have started games 3 and 4.
  15. How many play-off games since the SCF has Luongo let in more than 3 goals?? Also 3 goals should not be the deciding factor of every game. Also how many of those goals did Luongo have a chance on? How many of them were break-aways or really solid one timers? Not every goal is save-able. What about Couture picking Schneiders blocker from 20+ feet out?
  16. If you don't have anything constructive to say about the topic, you probably shouldn't post. Calling Luongo names and insulting other posters is just trolling. We get that you don't like Luongo, but he's our goalie and we need to stand by him rather than trash talk him. It's okay to believe he not elite anymore, but it is also my right and my opinion that he is still elite in this league. I'm okay with people disagreeing, just be prepared when someone has a counter point... Have a good rebuttal rather than calling me his his agent or telling people to shut up. We are as entitled as you are.
  17. Exactly, and that's something that bugs me. Everyone always says Lu lost this, Luongo didn't win that... Newsflash, it takes a team to win a game. If Lu lets in 2 goals and they lose, that's not Lu playing bad, that's his team not scoring. The Canucks as a whole, have been failing where they should be shining.
  18. Lu was stealing those games... All the team had to do was score more than 2 goals...
  19. Hmm, can't argue with that... Too much logic and statistics to really form a counter point. Well played sir, well played.. /sarcasm
  20. I actually laughed out loud and pretty hard at that! Since the acquisition of Roberto Luongo the Canucks have missed the play-offs once and obtained division title every year except 07-08. (same season Roberto was injured... Fancy that...) With Lu in net the Canucks have captured 1 WC Championship, 2 President Trophies and 1 trip to the SCF. Prior to Luongo (circa 2000) arriving to the Canucks they ... Had 0 WC Championships 0 President Trophies, 1 Division title, 4 trips to the play-offs, and 0 trips the SCF. Look not at what you can say bad about Roberto Luongo... Rather what Luongo can say bad about you.
  21. What a lot of people get mixed up is... They don't like Luongo, but they put on these dark tinted sun-glasses of pure hate and ignore anything and everything that may suggest Luongo is no slouch in net.
  22. Lol, I can't believe I'm posting in this thread again... I'll just repost this so because Lu has a mediocre season after the cup run and then is stuck back-up in a shortened season he is officially an "average" goalie... WELLLLLLLLLLLLL THEN, if that is so.... Pekke Rinne is no longer an elite goal tender as these are his stats for the llast two years 11-12 .923 12-13 .897 12-13 .910 Uh-oh, looks like someones on the decline!! Quick 11-12 .929 12-13 .909 OUCH! He's no good, SHIP HIM OUT!!! Lundqvist 11-12 .93 12-13 .926 By your conclusions of Goaltenders 13-14 .914 Will be his sv% GGGGGGGGET OUT LUND! Bring in Howard/Bob/Rask/Schneider as they are the only ones who are good any more. You see where I'm going with this? Your logic is so unbelievably flawed.
  23. Well when you put it that way I can't argue with the personal hardware. But I can argue he had 1.1PPG which is elite, and that championships are won by a team not 1 player, but this debate is for another thread, another day :D. Cheers
