  1. For sure, I think there is tons of pressure on him, but I think the pressure is just going to fall off him. He won't care, he has matured it seems in terms of that. I've already got my pop-corn stocked up for this one.
  2. I can agree with that somewhat but I cannot grade him on his last season as it was shortened and mismanaged. I look at 2010-2011-2012 to see where he is at. 2013 is/was a write off. Like it was said before you can't just go off stats, you have to go off circumstances as well. Luongo played at an elite level vs SJS bar that one goal that trickled through his 5 hole. As a goalie, you don't feel the puck as much you think especially on softer shots, so when it's trickling you don't notice.
  3. Also, a lot of people get heated (and that's cool) but I'd to throw it out there that though I disagree with opinions and have a very strong opinion of my own, I still respect your guys' opinion and your (most of you) intelligence. I apologize if I offend you. I just love to debate hockey :D
  4. A goalie may be the best goalie of that year, but that does not make him the best goalie playing. A goalie may be 11th in stats 1 year but that does not make him the 11th best goalie in the league today. That there ends this debate.
  5. Well... actually when you are leading the league in GAA and there are a low amount of shots on net, then a lot of the props goes to the D if there are still quite a bit of shots on net then the goalie should get the props he deserves
  6. 12 Seasons isn't short. also, he was the best Rookie in his rookie year after being drafted 113th over-all He also posted 2 back to back 60 goal seasons (leading the league) and took the Rocket Richard trophy You have to remember he was playing with Gretzky/Jagr/Fedorov/Lemeuix and was outscoring or staying on par with them... He was quite easily one of the best of his time. But you are right not #1 or #2, but neither was Fedorov/Yzerman/Jagr.... They were all in Gretzkys shadow
  7. That comment will derail this thread... There is no way you can put Bure below any of those guys, he is on par, if not above them. The adversity he faced with racism/injuries/being targeted and still do what he did. The man is a legend and will remembered forever. I'm starting to think most people on CDC have their standards set WAAAAAAAAAAY to high.
  8. Ah, see that's giving rating a whole different ranking That would make it more along the lines of Legends Brodeur, Roy, Hasek, Belfour, Sawchuck, Plante Elite Cujo, Lundqvist, Luongo, Vanbiesbrouk I'm not going to continue the list, but I get what you're saying. I somewhat agree with him and this point makes me disagree as well. Why does Bure Sundin etc. get the elite title(if they don't you are crazy) and Goalies have it so much harder to reach that title due to 1 trophy and a cup?
  9. It only changes when you jump onto another wagon. Watch Reimer have a career year and the bandwagoners will be screaming REIMER BEST IN THE LEAGUE!!! and Bob will finish around 11th in stats and the same people will say "meh it was a shortened season his Vezina is worthless" 2010-2011 Lu is god 2013-2014 Lu is alright I guess.. He's 34 not 40. Goaltenders usually hit their peak in the mid 30's as they've usually been through all the pressures already and it stops getting to them. Thank you, I literally couldn't have said it better my self... As I was trying... and failed.
  10. alright then top 5 goalies in the NHL today Bobrovsky Rask Lundqvist Anderson Schneider HM to Niemi and Crawford That list is a joke, you are exactly the definition of a bandwagoner You don't go by a single year, you go by averages. Things happen, Injuries happen, he got stuck as a back up to lesser goalie. He had huge media pressure, his team had a "cup hangover". 1 Season does not dictate whether a goalie is elite.
  11. So what? Quick is still widely contested as #2 or #1 with a .909 sv% I love how CDC starts using name calling when they are wrong it's hilarious. "Simpleton" He is still quite easily a top 5 goalie in the league today.I can see Rinne above him MAYBE, but not Howard/Rask/Bob yet. Repeat years for Rask and Bob and I'll agree that Lu is #5 in the league. Stats > your opinion P.S. This "Simpleton" is a 3rd year Pipe fitter and scored 3rd highest in the province for Physics 12
  12. Maybe, but okay, you use a video to make him look like he lost us the series? What about this? Once again you guys use bias logic
  13. Prepare to have your "opinion" destroyed so because Lu has a mediocre season after the cup run and then is stuck back-up in a shortened season he is officially an "average" goalie... WELLLLLLLLLLLLL THEN, if that is so.... Pekke Rinne is no longer an elite goal tender as these are his stats for the llast two years 11-12 .923 12-13 .897 12-13 .910 Uh-oh, looks like someones on the decline!! Quick 11-12 .929 12-13 .909 OUCH! He's no good, SHIP HIM OUT!!! Lundqvist 11-12 .93 12-13 .926 By your conclusions of Goaltenders 13-14 .914 Will be his sv% GGGGGGGGET OUT LUND! Bring in Howard/Bob/Rask/Schneider as they are the only ones who are good any more. You see where I'm going with this? Your logic is so unbelievably flawed.
  14. Except that should have been blown down when Lu had control of it(IE the puck dissapears from view) instead of being pushed into the net. It should have been a penalty shot for Boston.
  15. No... You are wrong, last season he barely got to play, and the game hes did play, the whole team sucked. 2011-2012 was a bad year for the canucks as a whole. Not just Luongo, and they still took the Presidents Trophy. For you to go and say Luongo is average, is comparing him to Holtby, Vokoun, or Clemmanson. Which of all 3, he is better... You sit there and try to say that his stats have been declining, the man has had the media down the back of his neck for the better part of 2 1/2 years, and with all this pressure, he's still our best player in the play-offs. Luongo ONCE AGAIN, gave the canucks every chance to win that SJS series, the same he did with Boston, but the team failed as a whole. Also, who are you to say that his stats are on a decline? Barring 2012-2013(He wasn't the starter) his stats after his injury are 2.11 GAA .928 SV% 2.41GAA .919... Umm as far as I'm concerened, those are pretty good statistics, give him another full season and (I never say this) you can quote me, his GAA will be around 2.20 and his save % will be around .920. It's just so easy to blame Lu, but the fact is, no Lu, no Schneider = No more play-offs. Top 5 Goalies in the NHL today Lundqvist Quick Luongo Rinne Howard HM to Rask and Bob, if they repeat Lundqvist Quick Bob Rask Lu
  16. You're nit picking individual matches I can make him look the opposite 0.00 GAA vs Chicago Game 1 1st Round 1 GAA Chicago Game 7 1st round elimination match 0.00 GAA vs Nashville Game 1 2nd round 1 GAA Nashville Game 6 2nd round elimination match 2.00 GAA vs San Jose Game 1 3rd round 2 GAA Game 5 3rd round elimination match 0.00 GAA vs Boston Game 1 SCF 0.00 GAA Boston Game 5 SCF Edit: Sorry misread that post, you're picking series, But once again I could do the same. Lu stole 3 games in the SCF, all the goal scorers had to do was steal 1, and they failed.
  17. Everyone ever says Canucks don't make it past Chicago let alone game 4 in the SCF with-out Luongo.
  18. True, which is unfortunate... But what about the team?? It was the Canucks in general that faltered on that road that series... Only certain people remember that series as Lu's fault. A majority of people don't. Luongo will be remembered as the goalie that revived Vancouver. Also Luongos "meltdowns" are over exaggerated. They are a rare occurrence... That series was a mess in general.
  19. No doubt, take away those 3-4 games out of 64 and his save % is probably .92-.93 and his GAA is somewhere around 2.10. He will always be remembered as his name is on a lot of records and his all time statistics are pretty amazing at 34 years old. The guy still has ~4-6 years to win a Stanley Cup/Vezina/Conn Smythe. His career is yet to be over, also he is not the only goalie to have a couple meltdowns. Another double edge here is those are his statistics WITH those meltdowns... That's pretty amazing, and shows that he is more so consistently good than he is up and down... Shows he is A LOT more up than down.
  20. And you like back-up goalies who have won 1 play-off game. Also... It's "too each his own" Wow Ricky is that you???
  21. Play-off all times stats GP 64 W32 L31 MIN 3856 GA 163 SO 5 GAA 2.54 SA 1939 SV%.916 Reg Season all time stats GP 747 W348 L289 T33 OTL 53 MIN 42887 GA 1800 SO 62 GAA 2.52 SV% .919 Looks about the same to me... Anything else? Or do you want to continue to be wrong?
  22. CDC rule #6c If you want to be a "non-troll", hate every player to play for the Canucks ever Rule #7 You cannot defend your team or a player of your team with logical facts and or statistics Rule #8 You must not concede when proven wrong Rule #9 You must use blind hate when judging a player of the Vancouver Canucks while ignoring all accomplishments.
  23. Kolzig retired, Luongos still very much so playing... Lu is on par to finish 3-4th most winning goalie of all time ~5th in all time shut-outs passing Jacques Plante He is 3rd already in all time sv% behind Hasek and Thomas respectively He is on par to be the 3rd goalie ever to reach 1000 GP Thanks for the post
  24. Go look at his all time stats and then look at his season averages, come back and tell me what you find. Kthnxbye Also Puckdaddies opinion > yours I would have played Schneider in that 1 game yes. would have played Schneider in that 1 game. have played Schneider in that 1 game played Schneider in that 1 game Schneider in that 1 game that 1 game 1 game
