      I am thinking he is.. only 5 years apart career coming to an end. 

      Both played on teams who have yet to win a Stanley Cup. 

      Both teams future is unknown.

      I was thinking more that they were similar style players at the same age: good all-around dmen but not super-spectacular at any one thing.  And as Edler often is, OEL is likely to be targeted by angry fans, especially since VAN inherits the NMC in his contract.
