Kuzmenko should conservatively cover half Miller's "lost " points.

Assuming we get a D back and improve both the makeup of our D,  and improve our defensive structure (as has been widely reported on being a major focus), our goals against should drop and our transition game should improve leading to more points from the D a well and better goal differential.

Also assuming we acquire a 3C (a clear need if we move Miller), that should add another 5-10 points for Horvat once he's more freed up to create offense.

Then fill in the rest with hopefully better years from Pettersson, Podkolzin, Hoglander etc.

It's really not that difficult to see us have a very similar goal differential, without Miller.

    Yes.

Let’s run on assumptions instead of the actual talent we have.

    Great plan.

I like our young guys but there's no chance they cover 100 pts on their own, and have their own production. Is Hughes going to have a 120 pt season?

    You are right.

Imagine if there were an extra 100pt player on those supersedin teams.

That would be the Cup right there…

Impossible to tank with a goalie as good as Demko.  We are pretty much stuck with trying to do a reset over one or two summers and hope the pieces acquired during that time develop into top notch support (or even key core) players.

    Alf. Come on.

What is this affliction of being allergic to winning?

Haha but I still haven’t really gotten an answer.  You say Sedins + Linden won no cups.  My actual question that you responded to was “who did you not like”

You’re saying that you didn’t like them?  Interesting

If any of you are saying that the Canucks should not have built around Linden or the Sedins then please allow me to grab some popcorn.  I need to hear this explanation.

I liked Linden as a player. As a person and as management, he is from the land of the Douchebaggery.

The Sedins were CLASS as players. However, they were as soft as asswipes in terms of pushback when things got tough.

That Marchant fiasco vs Boston, you punt the b!tch into oblivion, gain international respect and won’t that Cup.

That and Hamhuis doesn’t arrogantly tries to cart wheel Lucic.

Did O like the Sedins? Put it this way. We were treated to such great twin hockey for so many years that if you asked if I would rather have a Cup than having watched the Sedins for so long, I would actually keep the Sedins.

They we’re special to watch, and we’ll never see this again in a hundred years.

But can you guys come up with a Canucks example?  We've picked top 3 several times in our history.  Who did you not like?

    Linden 2OA88 - No Cup.

    D. Sedin 2OA99 - No Cup.

    H. Sedin 3OA99 - No Cup.

    Nedved 2OA90 - No Cup.

    Ververgaert 3OA73 - No Cup.

    Lever 3OA72 - No Cup.

    Guevremont 3OA71 - No Cup.

    Tallon - 2OA70 - No Cup.

    Drafted top 3 in 70,71,72,73.

    No Cup.

I forgot about doughty. Petey was a top 5 pick that would be redrafted top 3. So we're splitting hairs here.

Are the hair splits based on analytics though? Because that may pose a problematic that can only solved with a top three pick…

Since the hair aren’t supercombed and needs a couple more strokes to place it best, I say shave the head and start over.

That way one day there’ll be a superhairdo.

The blues kings and Bruins have all won a cup and had lengthy success without this elite talent you speak of that could only be found at the top of the draft.

Yeah but you see, the shortsightedness of fans demanding results yesterday must measure themselves against yearly Stanley Cup winners, demanding to emulate the path of whoever wins the Cup.

The conversation needle moves every year and they don’t even realize their opinion is that of a sheep looking at a lamp post at night.

We have a team clicking at .638 percentage and in good ol’ Vancouver fan fashion, it’ll never be good enough.

The day the Canucks win the Cup, many will B!tch and moan as to how the team

    didn’t play it’s best.

That's what I've been saying too.

I don't think Bo & Boeser will be here in 4 years.

Need to blow it up by tanking to get that elite talent & multiple 1sts in 22, 23, & 24 will help too. They can pay to get some of those 1sts by taking on expiring contracts like Carolina did with Marleau that turned into Jarvis.

    You’re a rebuild addict.

Let’s bring in a Stanley Cup winning management only to rebuild because in the future, something might happen.

What the hell are you on bud?

In the 600 or so replies to this thread, I've yet to see anything realistic coming back for what Miller brings to our Canucks for 2022/23..

Now even more so that we've signed Brock, Miller's fiery leadership will be crucial.

We can lose him at the deadline for something still substantial, but we could even be contending, and he may want to stick around.

Y'know, it may be high time we pressure our coaches to develop what we got raw already.

I'd like to see us run as we are for this season, let new management eyes see properly what we have, before trading, allow JB's baggage to terminate.

Accountability would be a refreshing change in Canuckland.

    Fiery Leadership.

That’s what an organization cannot buy.

That’s why Miller is so important.

NONE. of the proposals yet have this ingredient which cannot be found anywhere else on the team, and only in a few players around the league.

It's called managing your assets and getting something in rewtrurn for a NHL top 10 goalie? You won't see this happen will Allvin..Never never

Look what they did with Motte? They got something..

Taffoli - same thing look what Montreal got in trade for hime?

    Tanev -- Same thing..

These are all top players still in the NHL..

Not a matter of letting a player be happy and walk for nothing? This is sad but its a business...

    Good teams make smart move..

Canucks have good smart hockey people running the show now...

Never never… so… at some point we will see it?

But Tanman was injured at the most important time, in the playoffs. Just hard to escape that shadow.

True. The Canucks are stronger without him as he is reputably oft injured.

I didn’t watch any playoff games this year. My team ain’t in it, I ain’t in it.
