Imagine an all time dream panel of Dave Pratt, Neil Macrae, Thomas Drance and Dan Russell. Just shredding everything right down to individual players facial hair. “This team is never going anywhere as long as they don’t have a handlebar moustache on the team!”

Now you understand why we are not rebuilding. Hughes doesn’t want to rebuild. He literally told everybody that on national tv. He is the greatest defenceman in Vancouver Cancuks history. You build a team around him, you don’t force him out of town for some magic beans…

Update: If the season were to end today, McDavid would have the 6th highest point total (tied with Jagr) of any Art Ross trophy winner in the last 25 years. 8 more points will give him sole possession of 1st place.
This will be his 5th Art Ross Trophy. The most of any player during this timespan. (Jagr has 4 while Crosby, Malkin and St. Louis all have 2)

How is this news? We knew he was better than Crosby before he was drafted. He was basically a hall of famer before he was drafted.
It would be news if he wasn't doing this.
Playing in an AHL western confrence helps too
Oh pardon me. Didn't mean to offend your delicate sensibilities.
I think when someone does something that hasn't been done in more than 25 years it becomes news.
I would think this is a relatively simple concept

I would like to see Miller moved, I'm just not hopeful it's realistic. Shedding his contract is a win...im just not sure getting him off the books would fetch a young RHD straight across
I don't think it's going to happen. But I still hope that it does.
That's the interesting thing about Hronek. He was an expensive acquisition but potentially an asset that will increase in value. The demand for RHD isn't going away anytime soon.

Which forwards, that are good enough to fetch a young RHD (without picks)do you want to trade?

Not really, no. Nagging injury, maybe.
Neither would surprise me based on his play this year.

This is probably one of the rare occasions when almost everyone on CDC has the same view.
1. Was hoping for a 2nd round pick but 3rd round is acceptable.
2. Hoping and kind of expecting for Schenn to re-sign with the Canucks in the summer.
3. The Canucks were probably doing Schenn a favor by delaying as long as possible given that his wife's due date is this week. And Toronto is probably one of the places he feels comfortable going. And it is a fairly easy non-stop flight from Vancouver. That creates goodwill that will probably the Canucks in re-signing Schenn in addition to being the right thing to do.
In previous regime Benning always said he wanted to acquire draft picks but almost never did. JR and Allvin have at least acquired some picks. Hope they can acquire one or even two more before the deadline. (And they have also done a pretty good job in acquiring prospects in other ways. Just hope they can sign Livingstone. It would also be good to sign McDonough but I don't see that as moving the needle given how many good young wingers the Canucks have in the system. McDonough can probably see that too.
It's jarring!
Came in expecting to roll my eyes at dozens of comments and instead I agree with almost everyone. Very strange experience haha!

He's unbelievable--that said, we are in a different era of hockey these days. The rate of scoring is 3.16 goals per game, higher than it's been since 1993-94.
For sure
It's affecting everyone's totals lately. Still a pretty insane cushion that he has on the rest of the pack however

Looks like McDavid will be the highest scoring player since Lemieux more than 25 years ago. He needs just 14 points if I'm not mistaken. As a fan of the games history, that's pretty wild to me.
I realize that he's not the most popular guy on here so I'm interested in everyone's take.

When does JT's NTC kick in? July 1st?
Couldn't the Canucks still trade Miller at the 2013 Draft? Not sure who'd take him, but it would be another opportunity to make a trade.
Yep that's my understanding of it! However unlikely, there is still time to fix this.

Haha waaay too funny! It's like the league is intentionally trolling the emotional JT fans

As a fan of Buffalo, this is a fascinating thread to read. Looks like there’s a good chance that they’ll be playing Boston in the first round. (Assuming that they make it) Stillman is just adding a guy who will respond when cheap shots start flying.
Josh Bloom? Honestly I forgot about him because Buffalo drafted like 7 (more?) wingers that year. I think at least 3 or 4 were drafted ahead of him. No biggie to give up on one in order to support their new young core for it’s first playoff push.
For us (Canucks) why not?? Get a prospect and clear out cap space by giving up a guy who was doing nothing for us? Yes please!

No takers for Myers, Brock, Garland. If there was, they would be gone by now.
Still time for some GM to panic before the deadline. They're probably easier to move in the off season though.

Alf’s Ball is saying it’s Miller to Carolina for Kotkaniemi.
But are we allowed to discuss it or is this also not a rumor? Maybe this tweet should go to the proposals section.

He said he thinks they called inquiring. He was not firm on that. There is a big difference. He never said calls were in fact made.
Correct but he thought it strongly enough to bring it up on the main national broadcast of the week.
You're right that it's likely not a big deal ( Elliotte also said that it may not go anywhere) but it's also not nothing.

TMZ usually breaks stories before the actual news channels...
Fair but they also sensationalize and miss a lot as well. They kinda have a shotgun approach. Anyhoo THEY aren't really my point lol

He said other GM’s are thinking and wondering what it would take to get him. How is that a rumour based on anything? Seriously
And that he believes they have phoned OUR GM in regards to this. It was newsworthy enough to be on HNIC lol. Or you missed that possibly? idk

Although TMZ has more credibility than this thread, it still amuses me that you can keep deflecting logic and reality. Keep up the good work and don’t tell me what to do.
Elliotte Friedman has less credibility than TMZ? Seems like a stretch. He's pretty well respected around the league.

All reports are simply that some "what if" phone calls most likely took place. It's not "nothing" and it's also not really anything huge. Is it mandatory to have an extreme opinion on everything here? lol

Get Drance some crow
in Canucks Talk
Posted
Drance is so annoying (he really is) that I think a lot of people don't comprehend what he's saying. Even saying something like "non-zero" lol. What a pretentious way to say it. People go in with their minds already made up. It's quite a funny dynamic to listen to. Drance gets derailed by people angrily texting in when they clearly have no clue what he's even talking about. In those situations both Drance and the listener deserve each other. Drance brings the rage upon himself but the listener could chill and try listening without an agenda.
Funny! (to me at least)
