  1. Saanich police ticketed a cyclist for speeding in a school zone Wednesday as they continued their stepped-up enforcement efforts.

She was very upset with the ticket, but Saanich police Acting Sgt. Jereme Leslie pointed out that speed limits apply to people on bicycles as well as in vehicles.

The cyclist was clocked exceeding the limit near Glanford Middle School, one of several where police were present Wednesday.

“It sounds like the cyclist was passing vehicles on the right, passing all the vehicles that had slowed down for the school zone,” Leslie said.

Keep those roads safe from those speed demons, thank god someone was thinking of my non-existent children.

victoria cyclists are out of control  they never stop at crossroads on goose trail i think the cops should clamp down hard on these douchebags on bikes. This is only time il ever be happy a cop ticketed anyone  but chick should have known better. Btw im anti cop most of time most of the public dont want dumb cops  making their quotas to justify their paycheques screwing over hard working people maybe they should crack down on drug dealers and crackerjacks instead
