  1. I think the issue is less about whether you personally want McCann on the team or not, but more an example of failed asset management.
  2. With how well known the Canucks issues are around the league now, it's a possibility that some teams may subconsciously start taking us lightly.
  3. You're in luck, he goes back into his Brussel Sprouts rant today
  4. I think OEL is untradeable at his age/term/cap hit, but I believe Myers will have takers without the need to add a sweetener. Never underestimate the value of a big right-handed D. Especially with only one year left, and ESPECIALLYx2 if the Canucks retain salary on him, someone will take a chance on a big RHD in Myers for sure.
  5. Sens have a pretty ugly looking blueline themselves. Not sure if they're a great trade partner for us.
  6. Don't think Aquilini would be happy to retain salary on a bunch of guys who aren't playing for us either. (Though you could argue he's already paying a full team that aren't playing for us right now.)
  7. The Carolina game should've been the last clue they needed. It's clear that we are so far from being in the calibre of a team like the 'Canes and we don't have the cap or assets to get there with this core. When your organizational goals are to squeak into the playoffs and you fail, this is the result. We make fun of the Leafs for blowing it in the first round every year, but their goal is to win the Cup. Their failure is our best case scenario.
  8. I wonder what the appetite around the league is for Miller with that extension. If they couldn’t trade him in the off-season, they absolutely should’ve waited to see how the season played out. Miller will still get points and at 50% retention, he still would’ve had high value for a team who needs to go all-in this year. They completely folded and made trading him exponentially harder now.
  9. Yeah, I'm struggling to see if there's any difference at all between him and JB
  10. When Allvin traded Hamonic earlier this year, I fell for it. I thought, "Wow, now here's a GM that can get things done."
  11. But even at their best, and everything goes right, do you think this team is a contender? Or have the assets to become one with this core? If not, what are we doing here?
  12. Yeah there's too much work to be done on our team and no assets to get it done. Nothing short of a rebuild is going to get it done. And I know the odds of getting Bedard are low (18% or something?) even if we bottom out, but this draft is so stacked that if you're ever going to rebuild, might as well do it now. It's rumoured that the top FOUR picks in this year's draft would be 1st overall calibre prospects in a normal draft year.
  13. The Rangers had a miraculous rebuild. Turned it around without their top two marquee prospects even hitting yet (Lafreniere, Kakko). That is absolutely nuts.
  14. Same. There were many junctures in the past where they could've built for the future and we could've been coming out of our rebuild right now.
  15. I think it's a little of both. The team is not as bad as their 0-5-2 record states. They're not going to lose 82 games this year. But then again, they're not a contender either. If they need everything to go right in order to be a fringe playoff team with no surplus of picks/prospects/or cap space, it's a failure in management. Of course I'll continue to root for the team, but I want to eventually see a championship. Not a round of playoffs in the best case scenario.
  16. I like watching hockey to NOT think about money for a few hours. Everything has turned into a giant grift these days.
