  1. My heart sunk to my knees when I saw the thread title before seeing the date
  2. I think we're all just scraping at the bottom of the barrel now. We've blamed the owner. We've blamed the Benning. We've blamed Green. We've blamed Petey/Boeser/Bo. We've blamed the D. I mean look at the forums here and how many recent threads have devolved into arguments about non-entities like Dahlen and Virtanen. We're all out of ideas.
  3. I'm not sure if that's new since the owner always had veto power on any major financial decision like firings and buyouts.
  4. Probably a drill for the goalies cause they’ll see plenty of those in-game
  5. Either that or he could be yelling at the team for not being able to pull off a simple drill.
  6. Maybe if there was a bigger market in Canada, but a large unestablished market in the US is still less tantalizing than staying in Vancouver. And besides, many franchises would be considered first for relocation before a big Canadian market. Nothing is impossible, but the Canucks won’t go anywhere unless something crazy happens.
  7. The NHL seems to be vehemently against relocation these days unless it’s a last resort. Though I guess if they changed their stance once, they could again.
  8. A large established fanbase IS money Look how hard he fights to keep the Coyotes in Arizona or the Panthers in Florida even when they had four digit attendances. The NHL wouldn’t approve a Canucks relocation outside of something like Rogers Arena accidentally imploding. The Canucks aren’t going anywhere (literally and figuratively it seems).
  9. Say what you will about Bettman but he has never been a fan of relocating teams. A new owner wouldn’t get the approval to move a team out of a market like Vancouver.
  10. You've already seen it. Imagine what you think it looked like. It looked exactly like that, I swear.
  11. Hey, that's young enough to be President of the US, nevermind President of Hockey Ops
  12. That interview might be the reason why neither Benning nor Green have been fired. He doesn't like paying guys not to work. (He also doesn't like paying people to work, but that's a topic for the local blueberry farm forums)
  13. I don't disagree. I'm not saying a captian needs to be the most vocal, the most physical, or the most skilled, but I'd like a captain who at least exists.
  14. If you told me at the beginning of the year that all the guys you listed were gonna play beyond expectations, it would sound like we have a President's Trophy team. This is what we get when our stars don't show up.
  15. I never understood why stoicism is the paragon of leadership in Vancouver. He admits he's not the most vocal guy. So he leads by example by showing up half the time? Changing captains right now is the definition of desperation from an organization, but something's gotta give at some point.
  16. I guess Sportsnet gave you the Giants game so you at least get to hear a team that still has a chance at the playoffs.
  17. I don't know how much better its going to get under this ownership. If your goal is to make the playoffs and you fall short, you get a season like this. We make fun of the Leafs a lot here, but their goal every year is to build a champion. So when they fall short, we make fun of them for not making it out of the first round. Making it INTO the first round is like our best case scenario. Unless Aquillini hires a President of Hockey Ops and stays the hell away from the team, we're only going to get more of this.
  18. I hear what you're saying. I do agree that changing coaches will at LEAST give Petey and all a second chance at finding themselves.
  19. I don't disagree that Green needs to go. But I'm not giving Petey a pass either. This is on everyone in this organization. (Except Demko/Clark)
  20. If he doesn't like the coach, he needs to find it within himself to at least look like an NHL player. If you're upset or disagree with the coach and you play like that, you're not a professional hockey player.
  21. I was also really angry with Schmidt the way he left the team, but maybe he was right.
  22. The players do not get a free pass. Regardless of the systems, or lack thereof, the players are losing just about every 1-on-1 battle regardless of where it is on the ice. It's not systems that have made Pettersson absolutely unable to pass a single defender. I'm not defending the systems either. It's crap on top of crap. No excuses for the players.
