How about a realistic Tanev move? Tanev and six to Edmonton or Florida for a winger of equivalent value (not sure who that is in FLA) and their pick Edmonton for instance Tanev and #6 for Yakupov and #3 Yakupov has the skills to play and can be game breaker just needs to be coached better so we get what we are looking for and still can move up to get Reinhart/Bennett/Dal Colle Edmonton gets a young dman that will fit in nicely but has proven he is much further along than their group. Prefer to move Edler, but he wouldnt waive and likely be asked for Tanev

I agree with you. I mentioned the same earlier, and you just have to look at alot of players in their draft year and realize they will grow! When I was 17/18 I was 5'11 165, pretty much the same size. By 20 I was 6'1 close to 195ish....2 years, and I gained strength and speed and it was simply just growth, and working out (nothing special) He will grow....all they have to do is meet the parents, get an idea of dad and mom's size and realize the kid will likely grow more than them, that's usually what happens Imagine if Ottawa has said a 5'11 165 lb defenseman named Karlson was too small? and he was a defenseman!

This whole debate over Ritchie/Virtanen/Ehlers in my mind comes down to risk/reward In MY OPINION and that's all it is, opinion 1. After Ekblad/Reinhart/Dal Colle/ Bennett the risk of flop increases dramatically 2. I think all those 4 players should find a way to become NHL players and contribute in some form or another to warrant why they were taken in the top 5-6 3. Draisaitl is one of those potential hit or miss players alot of risk because of his skating but he did put up alot of points alone. 4. Then we get out of the standard top 5 and our fine mess 5. In that fine mess, I look at this like I look at decisions as a business person. If I am taking a risk, I need to try and quantify that risk and the resultant return. I should if I am smart, want to minimize risk and maximize return. 6. Where most people debating here differ is simply in their assessment of risk amongst the players, we all have differing views based off what we categorize as more important (size, speed, hands, hockey iq, intensity, etc etc). 7. Since I don't see any way to accurately determine if any person's view of assessing risk is better or not since, drafting is a crap shoot, a simple assumption would be these players we're debating are all equally risky given different definitions of that risk. 8. Then I look at return, I ask who has the highest ceiling as this is a little easier to determine, still fraught with assumptions on what is more valuable to us (but this is where I pointed to the issue that our prospect pool has alot of size but lacks the upside gamebreakers). If you look at return from this perspective, this leads me say Ehlers is the best bet. Again, this is because I am of the opinion that: A - We have alot of size in our prospect pool B - Size/Projects are easier to find later in the draft and elite skill is not. C - We only have Shinkruk in that group that MAY or MAY NOT become an elite game changer. Kassian a maybe if he keeps developing but in a different manner (not the key goal but someone who may contribute to it). Jensen and Horvat, great support players who will be key parts but unlikely they will be the 'go to guy' That's the way I look at things and this is why absent a move up to get Reinhart/Bennett or Dal Colle we should go with most TALENT available, where size isn't an impediment. And we should consider the group when making the decision and lets remember Ehlers' not a munchkin/schroeder either.

Not sure, Hansen is a good add, as would be Gaunce if he's thrown in, and only to move 3 spots? probably worth it for the Oil For us, we trade a center prospect with size that can be of more use to Edmonton and get a prospect upgrade, we move a redundant player that can help the other team significantly. Its not alot to ask of Edmonton really, smart trade for both teams.

Yes if he's experienced which if its Benning he should be able to do, assistant GM's do alot of work, so the league knows him. But fair point, will he be in place long enough to strategize, that is Linden's biggest challenge and I expect he knows it, and that this draft is huge since its the highest we've picked in decades. Again, its not that huge of a move 6-1 or 6-2, 6-3, its not like trying to trade up from 23-30...much easier here especially as I said if the other teams (Fla/Edm) accept that they need some vets to supplement their teams. They don't move too far, so their fans don't get pissed and they can improve their team much more than simply adding more youth with both Edmonton and Fla literally have too much of now...

I just can't see Edler waiving for Edmonton regardless...I think he'd be accomodating within reason...but no one would waive to go there, thus I was trying to find the best way to move up that helps them enough to still get them their pick and a vet.

Personally, I would love to see us move up and get either Reinhart, Bennett or Dal Colle, if we do, there will be a lot less of this trolling..

Yes I agree, I don't think we even need to gut Edmonton. I do think FLA may be doable because Garrison played there, and Edler if he's asked and told the Nucks want to move him may change his mind, and you never know if he talks to Lou. Edmonton would be easier with no Ekblad available. Do they need another center? Maybe if they want to move Gagner but it simply compounds their issues of too much youth....I think they may simply jump at a move like Hansen and yet only move three spots. I think Edmonton would prefer to get Ekblad, but if he's gone well then getting a player with size (Ritchie or Virtanen) and a vet that can help them, which Hansen can, makes alot of sense for them. Hansen fits in nicely as an anchor on their third. Its an small piece that helps them and costs them very little given their needs. We can always throw in another player/prospect/pick and I think Edmonton has to think what the hell, this isn't a killer draft and we only move 3 spots and fill a hole or two as well

Drouin is probably in on 40-45% of the team's points son... your point is not very intelligent you might want to realize perhaps Ehlers boosted Drouins points by 30% weeee! see same senseless point and you said no drouin no ehlers well as one poster astutely mentioned 70% of Ehlers points were scored without Drouin so in the analytical/math world that is a strong majority of his points >50.1% = majority 70% = vast majority that's sum numeberish stuff for ya
