Now that there are no trades until after the expansion draft, are we hoping that no one takes Sbisa so that Tanev is still marketable?  I can't see JB trading Tanev after losing Tryamkin and Sbisa.  Maybe because nothing has happened yet, it won't happen at all...maybe 3rd and 5th was a pipe dream:( someone tell me I'm wrong

This would seem to imply that Ollie J will have super step up this year An make the leap to the big club in September. This being the case then I could see Jim drafting another D man with that 5 th pick . (Jim has shown a tenacity to let 19 year olds make the big club.if this happens, this will be good is questionable ).

This will allow the team a chance at next years lottery sweepstakes to fill that pick for a stud centre.

There may be a real good chance at picking up a replacement for Sibisa loss at ED just shortly after at a better cap rate hit? ( that D may be better than Sibisa also )

The value for Tanev may go up considerably after ED as a number of teams will be in need of bolstering their D may then test trade waters just before the entry draft.

anything still could happen with JB at the helm.

    Good post ,

Thinking along the same lines in regard to team toughness it will have to become a team by committee approach as a third attribute.

The first being a more offensive scoring team 5-5 (talented forward scoring is priority)

secound would be tightening up the D

No not at all. Some players just need longer to get bigger and stronger.

He does alot of little things well that should help him transition to the NHL. But if they want him to reach his ceiling they need to make sure they take his development slow.

If he's going to be a top 2 guy that we all hope, he needs to be able to dominate at the junior level before moving on. He's not quite there yet.

    Yes for sure

It would almost criminal to bump him up this year.

let him season an perculate another year Jr level then on to Utica to polish off his game.

Patrick Kane is a Top 10 player when healthy.

If we wait until next year, we may not finish as low as this year.  If anything, we should be doing whatever we can to land Hischier or Patrick.

    Totally agreed

I may be wrong but I thought JB was gonna replicate what the Kings did with later picks, find gems that would be potentially future NHL players with high upside An star capability. After al we have not had a lot of luck with later picks.

Apparently Burkey and Gully have no problem with Tkachuk's playing style  either. They just let him loose, the whole team followed his lead and lost the game last night. :P  Still, watching Doughty cringe whenever Tkachuk skated toward him was priceless.

Tkachuk would have been fully domesticated by our League of Extraordinary Gentlemen management and the leadership group, had we drafted him. Just look at what they did to JV18 and his game.

Instead of scoring goals and lacking up penalty minutes, Tkachuk would have been just skating 200ft back and forth waving his stick with Chaput and Biega.

Hopefully remedy An new players will be picked up on forward group that exude these traits to supplement bottom 6

Willie needs to be gone also , he is a pacifist. If he had the skilled horses maybe he would do alright . I am not giving him benefit of of doubt .Miller brought in most of the points in the last three years by stealing them .

Now I really wonder if we can get the grit on forward line with some scoring savvy.

    great observations 1-D

Hopefully he is learning how to work for 60 minutes an play a two way game under coach Green ,I think Green will shape up his game,If not an he does not reform an learn to grab his stuff ,I imagine he will be bundled packaged an traded .I hope Jake makes it back an can contribute next year,

  8. Finns are stinking it up today wow they are a horrible team.

OJ wasted his time joining a horrible team , boo humbug

    .

next few drafts we need to go after high end forward prospects none of this off the board BS.

We should have taken a forward with our first pick this past draft.

I hope Oli proves me wrong too.

So GMMG was not the only one who got it wrong. Sure at the time I loved the pick. Time later gave us a different picture of Cody.

So your right if you are only talking about his draft day to draft year plus 1. After that the real Coho started to emerge and his faults became far more apparent.

So I am right if we look at his complete career.

Split the difference, call it a draw.  Either way we are debating history.

The CO-HO business case study is an interesting one.Lessons to taken away for sure especially for young players.

I am sure if he had to do it all over again Cody would change up a few things post draft.

Because of one game you watched? Most likely the only game you've watched?

To. be fair yes ;an only had that satellite feed game had been advertised an was curious as to how he was doing.I would watch more games if I could an had the feeds .I have very very high hopes an expectations for Oli.

I watched super Canucks tourney an a exhibition game ,but otherwise have seen very little of him.

  11. He looked very ordinary last nights game , Not like the 5 th pick in June's entry draft . In fact I would say he played poorly an had a bad game last night.

I honestly can't forecast he will be in a Canuck uniform anytime soon perhaps 3 or 4 more years.

  12. Sitting maybe only a function of JB only dressing him less than 40 games ,RE: expansion draft protection hence the charade of excuses being coached an verbalized by Willie to media an fans.

I know the kid is serious about being a regular contribing 1/23 of the roster on this team this year.

he is NHL ready to contribute for his team.

    tryamkin-hits.gif

  13. yep yep it is way to early in season to chalk this negative malarky on the boards .

It is gonna be a long season at the body fat shrinkage rate 3% he could easily be in line up by November 10, or so

How is it over done?  We are on the 2nd straight season of watching a kid play outside of his comfort zone.  He is getting worse each game it seems

YEs so true don't wanna see the kid go bust either ,I would send him to Utica for 40-50 games .

  15. Just wait till late november when teams toughen up alot more an get gritty on run up to 40 games

.His skill set will be needed in the line up.

JB is just managing him to stay under 40 game mark for expansion protection purposes

    .

.He is ready for 6th or 7 th D game conditions an will be another surprise he does not need Utica he needs to bide his time learn english an defensive system practice with team is good.

. we already have a project down there in Pedan who is darn near ready now for bottom pairing minutes maybe half season more .

According to Willie, Trymakin's game isn't where they want it to be. When you add this in with the fact that he refuses to go to the minors - it leads me to believe that Trymakin is really not a team-player, or at least really only cares about the way his career goes. Willie also said that he was trying "way harder" than last year - which is also troubling. When you finally get into the big leagues, shouldn't effort be second nature? We will see how this plays out, but I'd almost rather have Sbisa than Trymakin in the expansion if he keeps this silent record up.

Not sure but at the time he signed it was one way contract with stipulations in it no AHL.JB was somewhat desperate to improve our depleted D last march.

I have learned to be somewhat circumspect with WD language about players that have not endured themselves to WD.He will add to our blue line depth at some point ,perhaps injurys an road games will allow him to ease into lineup into November.

yesterday WD had the lines like this

    Twins- Eriksson

    Gaunce-Sutter-Hansen

    Baertschi-Granlund-Skille

    Burrows-Horvat-Dorsett

Virtanen skated as an extra dman (yeah I know, bizarre, but mostly because Guddy took practice off)

    WD is making weird combos

If Granlund is going to be the 3rd line C anyways, I'd rather see

    Sedins Sutter

    Baertschi Horvat Eriksson

    Burrows Granlund Virtanen/Rodin

    Dorsett Gaunce Hansen?

I like the look of the lines here also ,perhaps WD should structure lines just for western conference ,The eastern has little more latitude to experiment with his weird line combo s he dreams up.

His in game line player juggling last minute rather than line matching causes me alot of consternantion ,I hope that the shortened bench syndrome does not reappear very often this season,If it does the team is in trouble.Right now the combo

    you mention look real good

great pass by olli on that assist. really looking forward to following him closely this season, if he gains 10+ pounds and develops his speed/game upwards, he's pretty much a roster lock next year.

    Edler - Tanev

    Hutton - Gudbranson

    Joulevi - Stecher

    Looks good.

Man this is gonna be a long 2 year count down has begun. on the clock

Larsen could easily fumble after a few weeks and we swap them regardless of injuries. I like the point Desjardins made though about not rushing Stecher and giving him some time in the AHL to get used to the schedule rather than having to do it against NHL'ers. It's something I'd brought up before as a possibility, and it should set him up for success even if we don't use the more exciting player right away.

It is comforting to know we have Stetcher in wings in Utica .I cannot wait till after Christmas when things heat up ,looking forward to seeing him in Vancouver after new years for sure at very least.

  20. I hope Tryamkin was watching Defensman Parayko play on team North America tonight. If he can evolve his game up a notch or two this year over glimpse last spring it will be a win win for team.

Parayko is 6'5"  before tonight I new nothing about him or his game.
