Exactly.
I distinctly remember Willie saying something along the lines of 'The NHL isn't a development league'. He's there to put out a roster that can win him games on a night to night basis. Jake's got a ways to go before he can be an active contributor on all fronts at the NHL level.
-
Is it strange to think that having him play in the NHL first was a good thing? Gave him a sense of humility and made him realize that it wasn't his god given right to be a successful hockey player?
He looks driven now. The off wing suits him well too.

I think its entirely possible Jake suffers from Yakupov-itis. Just a kid who's gotten by on raw talent and physical characteristics alone and has never actually had to conform to systemic approaches.
The Blues are literally trying to rewire the way Yak thinks the game right now to help him out. That's probably the mission Travis Green's beem given as well. If so we need Virtanen down there for at least 2 years.

Did something happen here? Because I'm seeing stuff from May on the last page? Did CDC get hacked?
Two threads. One for Jake the NHL player (player sub) and one for Jake the prospect (prospect sub).

Lmao, can we move this back to the prospects forum. This kid's status has been downgraded.

Besides Nolan Patrick, I know next to nothing about this draft class, other than the fact that it's decidedly weaker than previous drafts. Any potiential big names?
It isn't weaker, anybody who says that doesn't know what they're talking about. Just because there's no generational talent to look forward to doesn't mean there aren't solid players to be had. The parity in the top 10 alone is absurd.
-
Any of the top three players would be solid be watching Vilardi's highlights is tantalizing. Those are Giroux-esque hands.
EDIT: Just saw this clip of Owen Tippett. Honestly, I'm so excited for this tank.

I wish there was a way to show him what Tkachuk is doing right now. Literally the player I envisioned Virtanen being.
A goal scoring, $&!# disturber going balls to the wall every shift.

I was wrong about this kid. He's a total passenger. I can't wait to see what Horvat can do with Loui and Boeser next year.
-
Ehler's has woken up too. 11pts 14gp.
This whole situation isn't even frustrating me anymore, it's just depressing.
-
I wish we had a Jake cam so we could see his facial expressions right now.
-
If this continues past December if I'm Virtanen I tell my agent I want out and demand a trade.
At a certain point you can't put the blame on him for not performing because in order to develop he NEEDS consistent experience and exposure to different IN GAME situations.
Virtanen seems to me like the type of player who won't learn by watching. He has a very one dimensional style of play and to make it work he needs to make those 90 mistakes in order to find the 10 plays that do work for him.
I understand Willie's desire to win now and save his job but that just isn't conducive to Virtanen's development.
He needs more minutes, here or in Utica. And he needs it now.

Whether he has a $&!#ty attitude or not the kid has to be played if we intend on keeping him. Limiting his in game experience is only further ruining his development.
-
Was this kid at training camp or the prospects tourney? Did he look good?

Why can't/don't they send him down to the AHL right now? If they think he'll be better off there, why don't they? Are there waiver/contractual issues at play that prevent this move?
Because.
They don't.
There isn't.

Unless the handheld part of the console picks up steam, the Nintendo Switch will fail miserably.
Good thing Nintendo's market isn't spec obsessed super gamers!

As someone who's watched a lot of movies but not a lot of TV series, anyone want to give me a short list of starters?
Sell me on your top 5 favourite shows.

K I just bought a ps4. I'm generally into shooters, sports and strategy. Not into fantasy anime stuff.
Recommendations?
I have plenty of games, but the two that keep me coming back are The Last of Us: Multiplayer and Rocket League.

I hope he gets a shot when Larsen gets yanked near December.

Hate to be that guy but reading the discussion on HFboards apparently the 2018 draft is ridiculously stacked. I hope we sell for picks in that draft!!
