I had to use one too for a bit. When my kidneys failed, I was put into a coma to save my life and that lasted for a month and a half. I had obviously developed atrophy. My doctor said if I ever walked again, it would take at least 3 months. I was devastated, but it only made me work hard to prove him wrong. I would walk down the hallways with a walker at least once an hour. 12 days later, I was walking on my own without any kind of assistance. My doctor was both shocked and happy. I was so proud of myself. It wasn’t guaranteed I would ever walk again. In fact, it was more likely I would be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life.
