  1. One name I feel is a bit of an enigma and I’ve seen all over the rankings is Otto Stenberg. Obviously Swedish (wink wink). I wonder if he’s one to watch as well. Plays centre looks like a well balanced prospect albeit not being elite in one area. Anyone have intel on this man?
  2. Was referring to Hodgson and Schroeder. Chill. However like the former, Perreault is a product of his line mates. His lack of skating and intangibles give me the impression his tools won’t translate. That’s my impression from what I’ve seen from him. I didn’t ask where you ranked him.
  3. Do you watch him play or just see his stats?
  4. The top 20 is deep. There is no one saying the whole draft is deep. Second round picks are still roughly 20-30% to be NHLrs. You’re getting a blue chip prospect at C, Wing or D with 11. If you swap with Nashville for 11. You better be getting a Fabbro or significant cap relief. That’s as far down as I would go.
  5. Reminds me of a Hodsgon/ Schroeder pick. Great tournament on a fantastic line. Probably is extremely skilled but I would still be weary. His skating is less than most players around him and he doesn’t have size fall back on. I personally would stay away.
  6. ASP is way more of a boom or bust. I’d feel nervous picking him that high. Willander you can justify cause he’s an all situations dman and he’s committed to school for the next couple years where he most certainly will learn the North American game. Way more space to dangle and skate on the euro rinks which can make some players look a lot better than they are. Time will tell. Any of the 4 dmen I would be happy with. it’s fun to speculate but at the end we know nothing and barely have access to a fraction of the footage and resources professional scouts do.
  7. Personally from watching ASP play, I don’t see the full package I see from Willander. All situations very reliable but also showing he can contribute offensively with high IQ plays. ASP looks flashy that’s exciting but if it doesn’t translate it’s a hard lesson. Simishev how can you not like the size and skating. as I’ve said before there is no consensus on how the players rank after 7-8ish. How many teams wish they picked Seider. He was way down the list that year. If your scouting team thinks they have an inside track on a prospect, step up and get your guy. I trust Alvin and the squad are doing there homework.
  8. But he’s exactly the type of player we need though. How many teams need a Brett Pesce. He’s been steadily rising since Christmas. If Moore is there and they take him I wouldn’t be mad because I love his skill set too. Same goes for Leonard or Benson. Grab your guy then you can afford to gamble with the abundance of 3rd and 4th rounders we have.
  9. This is would be the best thing for the franchise. He’s maybe a couple years away. Great development path. Stop with the boom or bust talk. Take the the prospect who plays a premium position and that holds value if you decide to trade them.
  10. How do you know? Quite possibly non of those players will be there at 19. Then what? Everyone had their own lists. If those are the players they ranked in their range (unless someone ranked higher on their list falls) then that’s who they will choose. It’s really as simple as that.
  11. The problem is everyone’s top 10 is different. It’s not as black and white as you make it out.
  12. Scary gamble. Especially considering we don’t even have the cap space to take on that contract let alone we have a glutton on wingers.
  13. For me it’s Willander. Seems like a full package. Reminds me of McAvoy in his draft year. NCAA route next year as well which is money for development.
  14. Rankings and mock drafts are NOT the same thing. Relax.
  15. This is a silly post. Drafting is a team effort not just one man. It’s way to early to be that critical of our new regimes drafting record. You’re projecting your own negativity on to this. Feeling like you can read people and their emotions in pictures of a meeting is obnoxious. Correct me if I’m wrong but you sound like you have your mind made up already that this draft isn’t going to go well. That doesn’t sound like a fun way to go about things.
  16. wingers are also the cheapest asset to acquire in trades and free agency. I’d rather address centre or RHD through draft then spending picks and cap space.
  17. Let’s be honest, Alvin won’t be trading down or trading the pick. Way too much talent to risk anyone being there a few picks later.
  18. I can’t see him drafting another Dman that high. There’s too many good forwards and they need more elite talent up front.
  19. A comparison is strictly stylistically speaking. It doesn’t mean you’re getting a player that projects to produce and be like a second Brayden Point. Remember when they used to say every offensive dman plays like Eric Karlsson? Everyone would lose their sh*t.
  20. If I were to guess I would say management isn’t as worried as some think. Getting Hronek, Hirose, possibly Johanssen looking like a fit… I think the urgency isn’t as high. But getting a player that will fit in on the team for cheap in 1-2 years would be ideal. Whether it be a forward or d-man. my choices: Willander/ ASP/ Wood
  21. Hahah that’s fair. I usually attribute unteachable skills to come from oneself not from others. He probably did learn it from someone at some point. It’s a tangible rather than intangible. Not like character or game IQ.
  22. “and a wicked wrist shot, which you can’t teach. He learned his shot practicing with Connor Bedard.”
  23. If he has a wicked wrist shot that you can’t teach how did he learn it from Bedard?
  24. This is one persons ranking. Slow your roll. McKeen has had some out here rankings in the past. Take them all with a grain of salt.
