  1. No way is Goldobin a 1st liner. (not good enough 2 way player) To me he may never be a full time NHL'r. Baertschi will be replaced by Dahlen at some point. Probably sooner than later. Why don't I see Brandon Leipsic on the team? Maybe it's just me but I actually believe he'll be in our top 6 next year. Leipsic Bo Boeser Dahlen Gagner Pettersson Baertschi Sutter Virtanen Granlund Gaudette Eriksson I would like to see Gagner & Granlund replaced with more size and bite. (Lind, Gadjovich, Macewen, Kotkaneimi, Wahlstrom, Tkachuk, ?)
  2. One of my favorite games back in the arcade days. EP's injury was not a knock out but I here what you're saying, enough "BODY BLOWS" could lead to a knock out. No but too many "BODY BLOWS" could lead to a knock out. You are also correct that he could do lots of other things to work out but not being able to use your thumb does limit some weight training as well as any stck handling, shooting, etc.
  3. I can't wait for next season to start & EP showing all the doubters that his weight will not be an issue. Gonna be fun going back to all the quotes of EP being too skinny, will need Utica for at least a year , his brother is still skinny, etc.
  4. Guddy needs his own sheltering. Without Edler, Guddy has looked pretty not so goody. And without Tanev Canucks haven't been goody at all either. He tried to do that with Hutton, how'd that turn out.
  5. The Canucks would FINALLY have a TRUE #1 D pairing in this league which we've been missing forever but let's make sure that doesn't happen.
  6. I think he makes the NHL. Too much "will power" in the kid.
  7. https://sports.yahoo.com/canucks-prospect-surpasses-peter-forsbergs-swedish-scoring-mark-014321248.html Despite missing two-plus weeks to earn a World Junior silver medal with Sweden this past Christmas, Vancouver’s No. 5 overall selection last June sits second in the SHL in scoring. With a pair of points Thursday night, Pettersson moved past legend Peter Forsberg as the second-highest scoring teenager in SHL history. The Hall Of Famer posted 48 points in 1992-93. With 20 goals and 50 points in just 40 games for Vaxjo HC, Pettersson is scoring at a 1.25 points-per-game clip and is now just four points away — with four games left in the season — from breaking Kent Nilsson’s 42-year-old SHL record for points by a U20 player. Dobber Prospects currently ranks Pettersson as the Canucks top prospect, and the SHL rookie’s torrid pace of production this season has lifted his stock into can’t-miss territory. The kid is on the path to becoming an NHL star some day, the only questions seems to be when. “This tremendous season has not gone unnoticed … as Pettersson is now-viewed as an absolute blue-chipper. There will be growing pains, but the lanky forward offers the full offensive package with tremendous vision and a release that will have teams scratching their heads over who to load up on, Boeser or Pettersson, on the Canucks’ top power play in the near future,” DP’s Cam Robinson recently wrote. There’s no indication yet as to when the Canucks plan to bring Pettersson into the mix, but most signs point to the Swedish star being ready to battle for a roster spot – and maybe even a role in the team’s top-six – as soon as next season.
  8. Maybe Leipsic becomes our next Burrows/Roussel/Cooke/Marchand/Kunitz type of player that you love when wearing but hate when their on the other side. I'm starting to see our culture changing under Green to a tough hard hitting no back down stick up for your team mates type of team. (Gubranson, Archibald, Sutter, Virtanen, Lind, Gaudette, Gadjovich, MaeEwan, Lockwood, Leipsic, etc.) Slowly but surely JB & Green are on the same page & I believe there will be more change in this direction in the off season.
  9. I have no idea myself at this point but it seems like Holm's return was better than Vanek's? That does puzzle me if it's true. Like this trade not so high on the Vanek return yet but maybe Motte turns out just as good or better?
  10. After a rough first training camp, which is to be expected from someone playing their first handful of games in North America, Holm went to the AHL’s Utica Comets where he’s excelled on their top pair and in every phase of special teams. In 42 games with the Comets, Holm had 29 points (11 goals and 18 assists) and looked the part of someone with NHL potential. That said, Holm is already 26-years-old, and as such we have to take his counting stats with something of a grain of salt. In the best-case scenario, I could see Holm developing into a third pair defender. This isn’t a huge loss. In Leipsic, the Canucks get a younger player (he’s only 23-years-old) whose been highly productive at the AHL level and has flashed middle-six upside in the NHL. In 50 career NHL games, Leipsic has 16 points (three goals and 13 assists), which prorated over a full 82-game season is about a 26 point pace. What’s especially encouraging are the circumstances in which Leipsic has produced those numbers. With Vegas, Leipsic was seemingly the only player to not be on the receiving end of more good bounces than bad. It took Leipsic until December 28th to notch his first goal of the season. When we use the Corsica.Hockey expected goals metric, Leipsic’s shot volume and quality should leave him with about three more goals at 5-on-5 alone. If there’s any team that can help Leipsic get going offensively, it’s probably the Canucks. Canucks head coach Travis Green knows Leipsic from their time together with the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks. Whether Leipsic pans out or not, it’s hard to not see this trade as anything short of a massive win for the Canucks. It’s about upside, and I think Leipsic offers a fair amount more than Holm.
  11. Currently Gub sits as our #6 guy if you look at his Stats (analytics). I think he's more of a #4 guy on a good depth team. I just don't see him being a 1-3 guy with his (lack of) offence & mobility on a good depth team. ( A guy like Tanev is a #3 guy on a good team @ $4.5 mill. Gub is not Tanev. So with that said I believe you're on the right track with being cautious on his pay as he seems to be a #4 guy. How much is a #4 guy worth?. Plus he is a little (or a lot) injury prone as well. I'm thinking because of his young age I think he'll get at least a 4 year deal but I would like to see the salary (average) around or just under $4 mill per. for a #4 D. Anything else is an over payment and we all know that's probably what he's going to get. I'd go as high as a 5 year deal but I would want it at $3.9. (with a limit of a 15 team NTC).
  12. McDavid is generational. McDavid is not trade bait in a year.
  13. I think these boys knew there stuff.
  14. Again patience is a virtue. (Players develop at different ages) All you Gaunce believers that I've read through this thread, hats off to you boys! Some of you have stuck by this kid through thick & thin with a lot more thin. (You will be rewarded shortly as I go back & review) The kid (another 1st rd draft pick which takes time to develop) is definitely part of the puzzle even in the bottom 6.
  15. LOL. 27000 posts does NOT equal troll. Just a good old fuzzy die hard Canucklehead fan.

  18. Not picking on anybody, just really interesting & funny how we respond to the moment. What a panic if you go back to page 27 about half way down. lol. Too funny. It was all about Vilardi or Glass including myself. What 7 months can do. Patience is a virtue.
