  1. So are you saying that this article is full of you know what? http://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/ben-kuzma-canucks-attention-centres-on-nhl-draft-lottery 3. Cody Glass, (Portland, WHL, 6-foot-2, 179 pounds)The stats: GP: 69, G:32, A:62 PTS: 94The skinny: “He’s the most efficient and productive 5-on-5 player in the CHL (Canadian Hockey League) for this draft. Over 70 per cent of his points come 5-on-5 and that’s exceptionally good. You put a big star beside that when you start to grade levels of work. And 45 per cent of his points were on the road and that’s excellent. He needs to fill out, but his dad is 6-foot-5 and built like a truck and his brother is 6-foot-7.”
  2. Agreed. Especially after losing Tryamkin. Virtanen needs to turn out to be a top 9 at least. We need to draft one of these big centers available this year. Patrick, Glass or Vilardi & they become top 6.
  3. Starting to think he's a legit top 5 guy too. I'd be happy with that at 4 or 5 for sure. For me it would be between Vilardi, Glass at #3 & #4. Pleased to get either. #5 could be Liligren, Middlestadt, Pettersson, Makar, Necar, Tippett, etc. That would be a much tougher choice if you ask me. Just hoping to get one of the top 4. Patrick Hircshier Vilardi Glass ?
  4. Hirschier will be in Switzerland on Draft day? Biggest day of his life & maybe the Canucks & he's not going to be there?
  5. Way over payment on a player with suspicious injuries as well.
  6. Let the countdown begin! 10 Days To Go Till the biggest day of the season (excluding draft day of course). http://www.mynhldraft.com/NHL-Mock-Draft/ This draft we could possibly get out future #1(a/b) Center or #1 Defense-man if Mr.JB decides to go that way for the next 10+ years. I actually enjoy reading most of the members posts & doing some reasonable predictions like the rest of us once in a while. With that, of course #1 is what we all are hoping for here & no matter what our past history has shown, I'm still looking at no worse than 5, lol. I mean #1. Anyways I'm hoping for the best but no matter what the lottery # is, I will still be happy & excited to see who we'll be adding to our prospect pool as the # is just a # until the kid actually arrives. Then the real predictions will begin. https://www.nhl.com/news/2017-nhl-draft-lottery-to-be-held-april-29/c-288660422 NEW YORK -- The National Hockey League announced today the 2017 NHL Draft Lottery, used to determine the order of selection for the first 15 picks in the first round of the 2017 NHL Draft, will be held on Saturday, April 29 in Toronto. The results of the Draft Lottery will be announced shortly after 8 p.m. ET, during live coverage of the event on NBC, CBC and TVA. Coverage on CBC begins at 7:30 p.m., ET. The 2017 NHL Draft Lottery will consist of three drawings: the 1st Lottery Draw will determine the club selecting first overall, the 2nd Lottery Draw will determine the club selecting second overall and the 3rd Lottery Draw will determine the club selecting third overall. Participants in the Draft Lottery include the expansion Vegas Golden Knights, who begin play in the 2017-18 season, and all other Clubs that did not qualify for this season's Stanley Cup Playoffs (or Clubs that acquired the first-round picks of those non-Playoff Clubs). The Golden Knights will be afforded the exact same lottery odds as the team finishing the regular season in 28th place -- or with the third-worst regular-season record. They will be guaranteed no lower than the sixth overall selection. To accommodate the addition of a 15th team in the Draft Lottery, the odds for all other participating teams have been reduced proportionally from the odds utilized in last year's Draft Lottery. The allocation of odds for the 1st Lottery Draw of the 2017 NHL Draft Lottery is as follows: Non-Playoff Team (Fewest Pts. to Most) Odds Colorado Avalanche 18.0% *Vancouver Canucks 12.1% Vegas Golden Knights * 10.3% Arizona Coyotes 10.3% New Jersey Devils 8.5% Buffalo Sabres 7.6% Detroit Red Wings 6.7% Dallas Stars 5.8% Florida Panthers 5.4% Los Angeles Kings 4.5% Carolina Hurricanes 3.2% Winnipeg Jets 2.7% Philadelphia Flyers 2.2% Tampa Bay Lightning 1.8% New York Islanders 0.9% * Vegas assigned same lottery odds as the team finishing the regular season in 28th place
  7. Yes maybe true but should you not draft a player looking at the big picture, his career not who makes it to the NHL 1st? Maybe Necas makes it to the NHL a year or even 2 before Nico like you say, I'm still taking Nico Hirschier any day.
  8. http://www.mynhldraft.com/2017-draft/mock-draft/ NHL 2017 Mock Draft Here is our 2017 NHL mock draft. Team needs are loosely taken into consideration. The draft order is based on the final regular season standings on April 10th.Sportsnet. We've updated added stats and videos, and new profiles from multiple outlets for all players in our first round mock. According to NHL.com, "Las Vegas will be inserted into the 2017 NHL Draft Lottery with the same odds as the team that finishes with the third fewest points in the 2016-17 season. It will be guaranteed to have no lower than the No. 6 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft and will own the third pick in each subsequent round." 10. Major win, wow Sergio actually does it. He will definitely sleep better now.
  11. You ask for it you got it, Bo Hor Vat.
  12. I'll go out & say this now, Brock will give Bo a go for the scoring title next year & could be our scoring leader by as early as that or shortly thereafter. Unless of course we get Nico? We have 100% found one of our top line wingers already. What a stud.
  13. My 1st worry is that Lottery Draft. Now that we are physically sitting in the 29th slot with only 2 games left, I really do hope it stays this way because our #1 need is that Centreman to join Bo for that solid 1-2 punch down the middle. Finishing 29th guarantees us no worse than #5 at the draft. I feel 1-4 we would be more than happy with what's available. 5-10 seems to be harder to read. Drafting Juolevi last year & looking like there is no defensemen better than him in this draft, I hope we get one of the top center's available. To me the top 4 look pretty straight forward but pick #5 is where I see it getting a little harder to read. http://www.mynhldraft.com/NHL-Mock-Draft/ - If the Canucks somehow win the lottery, 1st choice in everyone's eyes seems to be Nico. - If we miss on #1 & get #2 I'm still guessing Nolan would be the next choice? - At #3 (arguably #2? in my eyes) seeing that we could use size in the top 6, Vilardi. 6'3" 200+. would be a nice fit. (Joe Thornton type?) http://www.mynhldraft.com/2017/NHL-Draft-Profiles/Gabriel-Vilardi - At #4 I really like Casey Mittlestadt. http://www.mynhldraft.com/2017/NHL-Draft-Profiles/Casey-Mittelstadt - Now at #5 is where I don't know what I would do? Yes Timothy Liljegren looks good but that would not fit our #1 need now especially with the Sedins closing in on their careers. Not that a defenseman isn't valuable or arguably more valuable, it's that Timothy seems to be years away from being a factor for us & we have a decent young stock already on defense. I'm not too familiar with any of the other prospects after the top 5. Is there someone that could still be our #1b - #2a center to join Bo in that role? To me I could easily see any of the top 4 guys doing that but after that I think the odds drop off somewhat, to me anyways. Anybody else see it like I do or is there a better top 5 selection that I'm missing?
  14. Those 2 sound good but I'd be more than thrilled to land 6'3'' 200+ pound'r Gabriel Vilardi. Also a year younger than Nolan Patrick. http://www.mynhldraft.com/2017/NHL-Draft-Profiles/Gabriel-Vilardi http://lastwordonsports.com/2017/03/31/gabriel-vilardi-scouting-report-2017-nhl-draft-3/ https://www.nhl.com/news/gabriel-vilardi-driven-to-rise-higher-in-nhl-central-scouting-rankings/c-287274820 Gabriel Vilardi Profile Gabriel Vilardi Ht/Wt: 6' 3"/201 lbs Position: C Team: Windsor (OHL) Gabriel Vilardi's Player Profile Mike Morreale - Mar. 20th: ""The enhanced stats tell us [Vilardi] is the engine on this team because whoever plays with him, their Corsi numbers go straight up and are increased," [Windsor coach Rocky] Thompson said. "Without him, they drop significantly. We've had a ton of injuries this year so it's been a revolving door with our lines but the one common theme has been Vilardi's ability to make the players with him even better."" Jeff Marek of Sportsnet - Mar. 8th: "Probably Windsor’s most consistent player this season. Plays wing, but is a natural centre and has played a few games at that position. Almost a full year younger than Nolan Patrick." ISS Hockey - Mar. 6th: "Starting to heat up with 14 points in 10 games during February -- just in time for the playoffs." ISS Hockey - Feb. 6th: "Always been blessed w/size but his skill level & maturity has grown in leaps & bounds." Mike Morreale NHL.com - Jan. 20th: "A puck-possessing workaholic with skilled hands and outstanding awareness. A right-shot forward, Vilardi (6-3, 201) has excellent hockey sense and puck-handling ability, is very composed with the puck and able to influence the game in all three zones." Future Considerations: "A dynamic and often brilliant offensive attacker…has skilled hands and outstanding awareness…looks to set up his linemates with timely passes, but can also finish off the play when the opportunity is there…has nice size and uses it to protect the puck…has a quick jump and agility on his feet, but is not really a speed demon screaming up the ice…plays aggressively both when his team does and does not have the puck; often hunting it down and stripping it from his opponent." Dennis Schellenberg Hockey Prospectus - Nov. 9th: "Vilardi has both great playmaking skills as well as the ability to finish off plays using his hard and accurate wrist shot. Due to his size, he is hard to separate from the puck and uses his long reach to protect the puck successfully. "
  15. He was drafted in 1993 & true but he did have a decent rookie season (1996/96 season). But he did regress after the rookie season before he actually did break out in 1999-2000 season (6-7 years after his draft) & finally again in the 2001-2002 season (9 years after draft) where he became one of the best power forwards in the NHL. 16. I seen the same thing as you & have a good feeling about them 2 next year. If Boeser doesn't get Bo then I could see Boeser getting H.Sedin or hopefully Nolan or Nico next year. Then we'd have 2 nice lines moving forward. Something like this next year? Baertschi Horvat Eriksson D.Sedin Hirschier Boeser Granlund H.Sedin Godoblin LaBate Sutter Virtanen Peluso Dorsett Molino Shore?
  17. Eriksson signing hasn't turned out good in year #1 & I agree his contract kinda "sucks" as Luongo would say. Contract aside, cause that's all we can do now, I don't see why Loui couldn't bounce back & have a better point producing season here. I mean if Vrbata could do it after his dismal season with us 63g. 27pts. -30 to 79g. 53pts. -19 this year. Now 35 years old. Eriksson last year had 82g. 30g 63pts. +13 to 65g. 24pts. -9 this year. Now 31 years old. Vrbata had his best NHL season here at 33 years old with 63pts. Eriksson has had two 63pt. seasons & three 70+ point seasons. I see no reason for Eriksson not to bounce back to the 50pts. range. Also Eriksson is much better than Vrbata defensively & 4 years younger. He also brings that veteran leadership that is needed especially once the Sedins retire. (look at our record since Burrows & Hansen left). You can bet that Loui will be motivated from this season & will train hard & be ready for a much improved outing in year #2. If not we are in trouble. lol. Bo & Loui were also starting to click before his injury. I seen some chemistry there to possibly.
  18. Is Nico the kid we want or Patrick? What if we pick 3-8, what's your order? Draft Lottery odds Position Team Pts Odds (est.) 30th Colorado Avalanche 43 18.0% 29th Arizona Coyotes 63 12.0% - Vegas Golden Knights - 10.5% 28th New Jersey Devils 67 10.5% 27th Vancouver Canucks 69 9.0% 26th Detroit Red Wings 72 8.0% 25th Dallas Stars 73 7.0% 24th Buffalo Sabres 74 6.0% 23rd Winnipeg Jets 75 5.0% 22nd Philadelphia Flyers 76 4.0% 21st Florida Panthers 77 3.0% 20th Los Angeles Kings 77 2.5% 19th Carolina Hurricanes 79 2.0% 18th Tampa Bay Lightning 81 1.5% 17th New York Islanders 82 1.0% For the last place team, the 30th-place finish still means there's a nearly 50/50 chance they don't draft in the top three. In a class where a clear-cut top three has developed, and the players ranked from 4-8 can all be reasonably argued as the fourth best prospect in the class, those odds aren't nothing.
  19. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BO!!! Where would we be without this kid.
  20. With those standards I believe you will be rewarded.
  21. I agree & that's why I asked if there was any Maroon or Lucic types available this summer? If not hopefully a prospect comes along to fill that void or maybe a trade can bring that element? I believe Jim sees this weakness as well in our roster. Drafting Virtanen, Tryamkin, Olsen, Lockwood, etc. & signing Sbisa, Prust, Dorsett, Camarossa, Labate, etc. shows that he sees this. Gubranson, Dorsett, Camarossa injuries have hampered the toughness of this team but I still feel a few more throughout the line-up would help like you say. Definitely a tougher task to find those types that can contribute in the top 6 on a regular basis. That's why I was a fan of the Kassian trade at the time & had no problem with the Virtanen draft pick.
  22. I do agree with you that we are too small up front at the moment. But we do have a few guys coming up with decent size. Hopefully Jim can find some more to add to the group that we have. Boeser 6'1'' has good size Gaudette 6'1" seems to have size Horvat 6'0" is solid Virtanen 6'1" solid kid Labate 6'5" gritty & willing Lockwood 5'11" but plays a gritty game Patrick 6'3" Getzlaf? Also Camarossa was picked up for this but got injured & we were without Dorsett & Gubranson who were acquired for this reason & were injured for the most part as well. Of course due to our Canuck luck sometimes. lol. This is also why the Canucks have asked Tryamkin to step it up in that matter as well, & with maturity I believe he will. With those 3 in the line-up (healthy) & Virtanen coming along that will help quite a bit in that area & we should be ok. I'm in the camp to sign a Peluso type as well if we can especially with all the young players coming along. I doubt there are any Maroon's or Lucic's available this summer? I would like to see something like this on our 4th line to give the kids some peace of mind: Labate Camarossa Peluso Dorsett With Gubranson Sbisa & Tryamkin on the back end, that should fix the problem with toughness.
