  1. Agreed that Gaudette is a good prospect but consider the following: 1) We have Pettersson and Horvat at center. 2) Tyler Madden is waiting in the wings and it’s very likely that atleast one of Madden or Gaudette will be good enough to have that 3rd line C spot. 3) The Canucks are relatively deep down the middle, but are extremely anemic on their right side defense. 4) In order to receive something of value, you have to give something of value. Guys like Adam Gaudette and Tyler Madden have value and so it’s very conceivable that trading either of these guys would be able to land you a good defensive prospect. That was my line of thinking here.
  2. Duchene was great for most of his time in Colorado. He only struggled when the entire team became terrible.
  3. Just piggybacking off my old thought, you could replace Eriksson with Gaudette. Goldobin-Duchene-Boeser Pearson-Pettersson-Gaudette Baertschi-Horvat-Virtanen Roussel-Beagle-Sutter Edler-Tanev Hutton-Stecher Hughes-Schenn Three potentially really good scoring lines.
  4. I’ll just make one comment about Nylander. I don’t think the Leafs will move him anymore. With Marleau likely headed back out West, the Leafs cap problems won’t be nearly as severe as once though.
  5. Toronto would have zero reason to do this. Their primary purpose for getting rid of Zaitsev would be to clear cap space. What about this: Sutter Tanev 2019 1st William Lockwood for Nylander Zaitsev Kadri Leafs would save 8-10 million in cap here (can someone reading this please do the math? I cNt access capgeek, etc. in China right now).
  6. As much as I love Gino Odjick, I think Donald Brahsear was our best and toughest fighter ever. In prime Brashear could pretty much annihilate anyone.
  7. I wonder where Tie Domi would rank on this list? The Canucks had some pretty decent battles with the Jets during the early 90’s and Gino and Tie weren’t exactly strangers to one another. After Peca laid out Selanne that one time, Tie Domi looked into the cameras and warned us to “not dress Bure” next game. Lmao.
  8. Another guy that deserves mentioning: Dave Bolland. He was our “Brad Marchand” before we were actually introduced to Brad Marchand in the 2011 finals.
  9. I’m not sure why I hate Nathan Horton so much, but he’s definitely my guy. Seriously - if you have a concussion and acted like you were “dead” when Aaron Rome smacked you, then why are you going around waiving towels and flags at the (loud) TD Garden? Loud environments and concussions don’t exactly mix. And what the hell was he doing pouring Boston water on our ice before Game 7? I don’t even hide the fact that I’m glad that his career is over. Nathan Horton and Kelly Sutherland are my #1 heels........with Marchand and Steve Moore coming in distant thirds.
  10. I’ll mention one other guy. He’s not hated by the Canuck brass, but this dude lit up the Canucks like a Christmas Tre in his prime.......and he was from Vancouver! Burnaby to be exact. ”Burnaby” Joe Sakic.
  11. Updated. I removed my Gaudette for Wilde trade since the Islanders would decline. Instead, I replaced it with “Gaudette or Madden for a young defensive equivalent.” It would suck to lose Madden, but I think Madden would land a very good RHD defensive prospect. As to whom that would be, I’m not sure.
  12. I think it was a Rogers Hometown hockey commercial where Messier was talking about some of the new PVR features and what have you. His creepy McDavid commercials surfaced a year later.
  13. That guy that ended Andrew Alberts’ career. (Brian McGratton?). punk hockey player. Belonged in the beer leagues. Only played up in the NHL because he knew how to beat people up.
  14. I’ll also mention a few other dishonorable mentions: -Craig Janney (veto’d a trade to come here). -Petr Nedved -Geoff Sanderson (not really hated, but he was traded to Vancouver on two separate occasions and played less than 20-30 games total for us in TOTAL. There had to be some hate there from our end. :-p). -Dan Cloutier -Felix Potvin -Marty McSorely -Todd Simpson (Bure whiplash). -Duncan Keith -Dustin Brown -Joe Thornton -Jeff Brown (took Mrs McLean to the Candy shop).
  15. Most hated player in history amongst Canucks’ fanbase? Who do you think is the most hated player in the history of our fanbase? As you may have noticed, I recently changed my avatar (credit @6string) from Mark Messier to (Hindu)Stan Smyl due to pain that it was causing my fellow Nuck fans. I figured that the Messier avatar would be a light hearted rib but many people on here really hated that, despite the fact that the Messier era in Vancouver almost concluded 20 years, while the 1994 cup finals was 25 years ago. A few other names that come to mind: -Brad Marchand -Tim Thomas -Dustin Byfuglien -Ryan Kesler (I still  Kesler) -Joel Otto -Milan Lucic -Steve Moore Is Jan Bulis still a thing? (Lol at Tom Larsheid by the way). Which player do you dislike the most? For me, it’s a tie between Brad Marchand and Nathan Horton. I’d even lean a bit more towards Horton. I didn’t like how Horton was parading around TD garden waiving the flag during the 2011 finals after he got concussed. I mean, if you’re concusses that bad, wouldn’t the noise at the TD garden hurt your head? I also really hated how he poured “Boston water” on our home ice before game 7. Kelly Sutherland isn’t a player, but he also might be my most hated hockey guy. The guy hates Vancouver for god knows what reasons.
  16. I think I mentioned this in another thread, but Duchene would also give us massive depth down the middle. Pettersson Duchene Horvat Since Pettersson and Eriksson seem to be showing chemistry at the World’s, perhaps you could make them a fixture here. Duchene could play play with Boeser, while Horvat could play with Baertschi and Virtanen. Goldobin-Duchene-Boeser Pearson-Pettersson-Eriksson Baertschi-Horvat-Virtanen Roussel-Beagle-Sutter A guy like Duchene certainly would give us options.
  17. I can’t see the Leafs moving a young promising and cost controlled asset like Kapanen for an injury prone and aging dman (Tanev) + a measley 2nd rounder. Toronto wouldn’t save much cap space by making such a move. The Canucks would also be very foolish to move Tanev at this juncture since his presence in the line-up allows other young prospects/players on our team to develop at a more comfortable rate. If you move Tanev, then all of a sudden, guys like Stecher and Schenn would be playing in roles that would be beyond their levels. Lastly - a guy like Tanev serves as the perfect partner for a guy like Hughes who will be getting his first season under his belt. Tanev has more value to the Canucks then he would in any trade that we would make involving him. Trading Tanev, much like Markstrom, would be a terrible idea in my opinion, and the Leafs certainly won’t be giving us Kapanen for him.
  18. If the Canucks signed Duchene......3 very good scoring lines? Goldobin-Duchene-Boeser Pearson-Pettersson-Eriksson Baertschi-Horvat-Virtanen Roussel-Beagle-Sutter
  19. I personally would not move Jake Virtanen at all as I believe that he is a diamond in the rough.
  20. Just saw this updated post, lol. Again, it would depend on the asking price. Duchene between 8.5-9 million could end up being a very shrewd investment. Duchene-Pettersson-Boeser OR Pettersson-Duchene-Boeser would be one of the best lines in hockey.....and unlike Panarin, it wouldn’t cost us 10.5+ million. I think Duchene’s “lockerroom cancer” bit has been greatly exaggerated. Yeah he made those comments in Ottawa and yeah he didn’t play well on those terrible Colorado and Ottawa teams at times, but the guy can play extremely well when motivated and when playing with great line mates. The Canucks are trending upwards as a team and Duchene would play with Pettersson and Boeser and so I think he’d be plenty motivated.
  21. I would absolutely pay Duchene 7 years 49 million. That would be a huge bargain price, and Duchene can play both Center and LW. Having said that - I think it’s extremely unrealistic to believe that he’ll sign for that amount. Duchene will likely get between 9-9.5 million.
  22. I’ve made an update to my roster (Gaudette to NYI for Bode Wilde). I’ll just add a quick note about William Nylander. I know many posters on here hate the idea of trading our 1st for Nylander, but I think history has shown that all/most 10th OA’s don’t end up being as good as Nylander. Nylander netted multiple 20+goal/60+ point seasons in his first two years. The likely reason why he had a lackluster season last season was probably due to the fact that he didn’t have a training camp (due to stalled negotiations). It’s a tall order for anyone to step into a line-up and play amongst others who are already in mid season form. Buy low sell high. Toronto has cap complications through the wazoo. The asking price for Kapanen would be too high. Take Nylander of their hands. After the terrible 10 million cap hit this season (which the Canucks would easily be able to afford), Nylander’s cap hit would go to a very nice 6.9 something million. Nylander’s style of game would provide Horvat and Pearson’s game very well (ie playmaker).
  23. Goal for the summer: Solidify the forward group for both short term and long term. Find a top line LW’er + good 2nd line RW’er. 1) Sign Ryan Dzingel: He’ll be a good fit on the top line with Boeser and Pettersson and won’t cost an arm and a leg like Panarin. 2) 10th overall for William Nylander. Leafs get cap space. Canucks gain a long term asset. 3) Eriksson + Schaller to Ottawa (zero retention) for a draft pick. 4) Gaudette or Madden for a young promising RD prospect Dzingel-Pettersson-Boeser Pearson-Horvat-Nylander [Baertschi/Goldobin]-Sutter-Virtanen Roussel-Beagle-Motte Baertschi/Goldobin Edler-Tanev Hutton-Stecher Hughes-[GaudetteORMaddenEquivalent] Sautner, Schenn Markstrom Demko I’ll post more thoughts later (will re-edit this post), but this is what I have for now).
