It's crazy, but the deeper I look into the advanced stats, the better Myers looks, especially with OEL. I'm starting to think this pairing is a big part of the reason for our strong defensive numbers this year, in addition to Demko.

It seems crazy, but with how strong he's been defensively, there could be a case that he's fighting Hughes as our best defenseman. I'm struggling to believe it and am searching for stats to show how Hughes could be better, but to no avail so far, haha.

Right now, Hughes is obviously still our #1 Dman, but OEL and Myers are #2/#3, while Schenn is #4.  So, who is our #1 D pairing? The #1/#4 combo, or maybe the #2/#3?

That's a funny spin by the agent.  I don't think anybody assumed Hoglander was asking for a trade.  More likely the Canucks were putting out feelers to see what they might get for him and/or Judd Brackett was hoping the Canucks were willing to sell low and send him to the Wild.

    trade Dickinson

Right!  In fact, of the three players on our 4th line now, he's the one that I would least want to lose.  Interesting factoid: right now he's our 8th highest paid forward, and even if he did get a raise to 2.5 mil per season, he would still only be our 8th highest paid forward.  I don't think this would be nearly as much of an overpayment as the 3 mill per season that Benning gave to Roussel & Beagle.

Yes, the 2 WC spots are available. But I would love for us to catch Vegas and moreover, ,Vegas to miss the playoffs.

I'm looking forward to seeing them panic when we pass them (say we beat them on the home-and-home game early in April) and them scrambling to find ways to fit Stone back in their line up. What kind of BS they will come up with this time? Which poor player or two will go on an LTIR for lingering injuries?

And we don't have many games left against the teams that we could realistically catch, but we do have three left against Vegas.  Those will he HUGE games for us.

That would only contain non playoff teams

Good point.  So unless a playoff team happens to have one of those first half 2nd round picks to give us (or a 1st rounder), I wouldn't be inclined to trade him.

    Agreed.

I'd trade him for a 2nd but I don't think that offer would come.

    And I wouldn't trade him for a 3rd.

And only if it's in the first half of the 2nd round.

  7. I think the main problem right now would be figuring out how to get out of Russia, which could actually be a real disincentive to leave.  There don't seem to be many options for flying in or out of the country at this point.  I think he'd have to take a bus!

  8. Schenn's one of those heart and soul players any winning team needs to stock up on.  A real throwback D man & great partner for Hughes.  Allvin may soon get an offer that's just too good to pass up, but  I'm sure gonna miss him!

Getting tired of seeing a guy get jumped after a good hit.

Need to toss that guy out, and hopefully an additional 1 or 2 game suspension.

    Keep hitting, in the game

Actually, I just checked and he did get a game misconduct.  Along with 5 for fighting and 2 for instigating.

I also see that this game was televised on the NHL Network.  How come nobody told me?!

We don’t need more small puck movers we need big physical two way D men.

Would make no sense but he’s a Pens pick so maybe Rutherford values him higher.

He's on the small side, but apparently gritty and as good defensively as he is offensively.  I think he would be a good addition, but I agree they have to keep a few D with size around too (Oh where did you go, Nikita Tryamkin....:()!

Yes.  How the logic goes, as far as I can tell, is that Brackett helped draft Hoglander and Allvin/Rutherford drafted Addison, so that must mean that they want to trade them for each other.  Faulty logic aside...........I really hope it's true!!
