Lafreniere has more skill offensively in my opinion. He’s the one I’d like between the two.
He's actually a better 2-way player as well, which is my reason for preferring him.

Why is it I feel that if the Canucks are going to be trading Miller and Boeser, it better be Rutherford making the deal and not our actual GM, Allvin? Does anyone else feel this way...or should I feel shame?!
-
Here's something: I saw him throw a good hit tonight!

Miller most likely. What’s the point in holding onto him? This team as constructed isn’t going anywhere.
Might be good to have one veteran leader who stays a constant through the years.

The more I see Boeser play, the more I hope they decide to trade him and keep Miller.

I really like this hire.
Not because the person is a specific gender but because they seem to have a great head on their shoulders, and in this age, that’s all I want our team to be chock full of.
I congratulate Rutherford on the hire and look forward to a good job in CBA and contract management among other things.
Well done.
Well I'd prefer someone who was a nonspecific gender.....but they are coming, I'm sure!

Or what about
Schneider, Laff, 2nd for Miller, Motte and Schenn?
I'd take Barron over the 2nd in that deal . If we trade Miller, we're going to have a big hole at centre that no one in our system can fill. Barron would do nicely as a 3rd or 4th line C for many years to come.

I forgot about Othmann. He's having a really good season. I'm not as high on the others. I could see Arizona going after Othmann, Lundkvist and a 1st round pick.
To be honest, when it comes to Arizona they are wide open. They basically are collecting whatever they can get at any position, so they will simply take the best package available regardless of position. Vancouver on the other hand needs to be more strategic and fill certain holes. Schneider really is a must in any trade with the Rangers as he fills our biggest hole in the roster.
I put Othman pretty well on par with Lafreniere and Kakko. If we could get any of those three, along with Schneider (or maybe Lundkvist) and Barron for Miller, that would be the perfect deal for me!

This is were I don't mind if Canucks traded Myers and Boeser for someone like John Klingberg. That would make the Canucks top 3 D more mobile since Myers is kind of slow and it clears cap space where we can get another top 4 D that is cheap in the off-season.
Hughes-Klingberg
OEL-Larsson
That is what I have in mind in terms or retooling the D. Keep Poolman and bring up Rathbone and I think it will make us more mobile.
But then today in the Province, this is what Luke Schenn said about Tampa Bay's key to success in winning their recent Stanley Cups:
“The biggest thing they changed in order to win a championship — after losing in the first round — is that they were relying a lot more on skill. They have a big, strong and heavy D-core and that’s what they pride themselves on — being good in the corners and in front.”
This looks like quite a different approach to constructing a D-core than what Boudreau is talking about today..........so who's approach is right???

It's true, I remember having big hopes for 2006!

Played in the NHL many years ago, I believe in the 80's/'90's, for a few different teams (not us though).

Yes. Now he's just going to have to live off all the money he wisely put away for a rainy day..................LOL

I was just reading that Rutherford won the Stanley Cup with Carolina in 2006 and again with Pittsburgh in 2016...........anyone else seeing what this means for us in 2026?!!
-
Considering how Rutherford recently said that the team's biggest need is to gain more offence from the bottom six, I highly doubt he's going all in on this guy!

So where does Hughes fit into this Fox-Makar statistical comparison?

26 games, 1 goal, 6 assists, a +2 in 15:12 of average icetime. He didn't play last game, the game before he had only 4 mins of icetime. Not sure whether he is injured or has played himself out of the lineup. He was playing a lot at the beginning of the year and the team was losing. Recently Jukurit have been winning 6 in a row (whether have I seen that before...?), but Jurmo's icetime was reduced.
His teammate, Petrus Palmu is 4th in league scoring (27p in 29 games), just behind Lukas Jasek, who is 2nd (30p in 27).
Yes, and I hear the crowd has been chanting "Bjorn, there it is" to their new coach!

[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
in Trades, Rumours, Signings

That's my deal too, except I have the first rounder replaced by Barron, because: 1) I don't think the Rangers would give up quite that much for Miller and, 2) Barron can step in at centre right away and replace at least some of the size, physicality and skill that we would be losing in Miller.
