At this point I lost hope they'll ever scratch Stillman, even if we get Dermott back in the lineup.

They might as well have Stillman put on a cap & pads and sit on the bench if all of our dmen are healthy.

You just know in your gut that even when Dermott comes back they’ll do something stupid like scratch Bear in order to keep Stillman playing. I get that every coach has their favorites they give more ice time and opportunity to then others, but our coaches seem to pick the most bizarre choices.

This is ummmm interesting. Tad confusing what happened from the reporting............

California police say member of Elon Musk's security team is a suspect following stalker claim

An incident near a Los Angeles-area highway last week became a flashpoint for a debate about the sharing of personal information on the Musk-owned Twitter.

Police in Southern California said Tuesday they were seeking additional information about an incident last week that Twitter CEO Elon Musk said prompted him to crack down on accounts that track whereabouts of private jets — including his.

The Dec. 13 incident in a Los Angeles-area highway has become a flashpoint for a debate about online speech and the dissemination of personal information, although authorities had previously said little about what happened.

In a statement Tuesday, police in South Pasadena said that the incident involved a member of Musk's security team, whose vehicle hit the car of a man he alleged was following him.

The police called the security team member a "suspect." They did not say what crimes they suspected him of committing, but said they were investigating a report of "an assault with a deadly weapon involving a vehicle."

Musk's description of the incident was different. Last week, in justifying his decision to ban the Twitter account @ElonJet, which publishes the location of his private airplane, Musk said that a "stalker" had used location information from the account to follow and confront a car carrying one of his children.

The statement from South Pasadena police, though, contained no mention of a suspected stalker.

“At no time during the incident did the victim identify the suspect or indicate the altercation was anything more than coincidental," police said.

Business Insider reporter Linette Lopez, who has covered Musk and Tesla for years, and ElonJet creator Jack Sweeney are among those still banned from Twitter.

Twitter did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the police statement.

In their statement, police said a 29-year-old man from Connecticut had pulled off a highway shortly before 10 p.m. to use his cellphone in a gas station.

While parked, the man said another vehicle pulled directly in front of him, blocking his path, according to police.

The driver of the second vehicle, described by police as Musk’s security team member, then accused the Connecticut man of following him, police said. Each party captured video during the dispute, they said.

Police said that as Musk's security team member was leaving the parking lot, he struck the Connecticut man with his vehicle.

"When the officer arrived on scene, the suspect had already left the area," the statement said.

Detectives do not believe Musk was present during the confrontation, according to the statement.

The Washington Post reported a person who identified himself as the driver featured in the video of the confrontation that Musk shared online said he has an interest in Musk and the mother of two of children, Claire Boucher, who is better known as the musician Grimes. NBC News has not verified those statements or who was in the video.

Boucher has been the target of stalking before, and lives within the vicinity of the location of the reported confrontation.

I think by now it’s pretty clear that what Musk says about anything isn’t to be trusted. He doesn’t mean anything he says. He’ll lie about anything, including faking an attack on his child to gain sympathy and support. Benefit of the doubt he does not deserve.

2020-present Canucks are going to be remembered as one the worst era of absolute uninspired hockey in franchise history

I’m as frustrated as anyone, but if someone thinks this they definitely haven’t watched this franchise since the very beginning. There have been many more iterations of the Canucks who were even more terrible. Sadly, the frank reality is 75% of the time when the Canucks have existed has been mired in mediocrity or worse. The good times are the rare ones and it’s why they’re so cherished and memorable by fans who are used to losing.

The police filing also states that someone at Hockey Canada gave Player 1 a head’s up that the police had been contacted about the night’s events. After learning this news, the filing says he searched out E.M. on Instagram and began messaging her on the app – and later via text message – to see if she had gone topolice. He then urged her to make the complaint go away.

Reporting by The Globe and Mail in July revealed that Hockey Canada kept a multimillion-dollar reserve known as the National Equity Fund – fed by the registration fees of players across the country – to pay out settlements in cases of alleged sexual assault without involving itsinsurance company, and with minimal outside scrutiny.

In the same story, The Globe reported on two short videos that were shot inside the hotel room, which lawyers representing some of the players say illustrate the sexual acts were consensual. The clips, which are six and 12 seconds long, show E.M. saying that she was “okay with this.” The London police application provides more context to these messages and videos.

Three days after the story was published, the London Police Service announced it would reopen its investigation of the 2018 alleged group sexual assault.

Video surveillance that police reviewed from Jack’s Bar showed E.M. consuming eight drinks through the evening, although the court filing notes that the footage doesn’t capture the dance floor and some other places where E.M. went in the bar. Based on the footage, it’s not possible to determine if each drink was fully consumed.

E.M. went on to describe sex acts that she says she was made to perform. She says she was also spit on and slapped on her buttocks multiple times until she complained of pain and asked that it stop. E.M. told Det. Newton that she felt like an object and that the players were laughing at her. There was a suggestion that the players may use golf clubs in the room as part of a sex act. “[E.M.] said that players were talking about the golf club and [specific sex act(s)] [E.M.] laughed and said no because she did not know how else to react,” the application said.

During the events in the hotel room, Player 1 recorded two short videos of E.M. After the woman’s initial interview with Det. Newton, a lawyer representing Player 1 gave copies of the videos to the London police. About a month later, E.M. sat for another interview, this time with Detective-Constable Jilaine McConnell. In that interview, she said the video was shot towards the end of the night. In a six-second clip, Player 1 asks her if she’s “okay with this” and she says she is. In the second video, which is 12 seconds, E.M. says “You are so paranoid, holy. I enjoyed it, it was fine, it was all consensual.”

According to the filing, Player 1 told the officer that E.M. had offered him a specific sex act and before it occurred, he recorded the video because he was worried about a potential police investigation. The application says: “[Player 1] was worried something like this – in reference to a police investigation – would happen.”

According to the application, Player 2 engaged in sex acts with E.M. “without speaking with her.”

Her mother told police that around 5 a.m. she found E.M. in the shower with the water running, “seated clasping her knees and rocking back and forth,” the filing says, paraphrasing her mother. It was E.M.’s mother who reported the events to the London police.

Her husband also contacted someone at Hockey Canada. He passed along a photo of Player 1 taken at Jack’s on the night of the alleged attack.

On June 20, Player 1 messaged E.M. on the app. They later talked through text messages.

“Did u go to the police after Sunday?” the player asked.

“I understand that you are embarrassed about what happened. But you need to talk to your mother right now and straighten things out with the police before this goes to far. This is a serious matter that she is mis representing and could have significant implications for a lot of people including you. What can you do to make this go away?” Player 1 wrote in a text, according to the application, which cited images of the conversation. (The Globe had previously reported on this exchange.)

There’s a lot of information to unpack here, but I think these are the most important bits that pretty much tell us everything.

First off Hockey Canada were disgusting scumbags. If your first response to a sexual assault allegation isn’t to talk to the alleged victim, file a police report or immediately start an investigation and instead is to let the player accused know so then they can harass their alleged victim then your priorities are out of whack. Rotten to the core. Going to take a long time for Canadians and sponsors to trust them again, at least for the men side if not in totality.

Hockey Canada created basically a slush fund to deal with sexual assaults indicating they thought this could happen and wanted to be prepared to make any allegations or lawsuits go away. That’s absolutely appalling. Rather then trying to teach their players that this isn’t ok, they only wanted to cover it up after it happened and cared nothing about trying to prevent it in the first place. Again a rotten organization needing of a full cleaning top to bottom.

What the player may think is their get out of jail free card actually does the opposite of what they hoped. Creating very short videos with the player specifically asking the necessary questions to get the players off the hook in case it came back to them is extremely suspicious, especially with the questions asked. I could understand if it was 6 or 12 seconds of a video of the entire act, but to purposely record only enough for the right words to be spoken by the woman to remove any culpability means they thought they could need proof later on indicating they knew what they were doing was wrong. Also if a player tells police they recorded the videos because they worried about a police investigation it again indicates the player knew what they were doing was wrong.

8 drinks for a young woman is a lot. Most men can’t handle that much before getting intoxicated to the point of being unable to think clearly and function properly. I have zero doubts she was extremely drunk that night.

Not all the time, but most of the cases where someone is lying they make the incident as vague as possible, so it’s as believable as possible. Putting in details like “golf club sexual acts” when someone’s not telling the truth doesn’t tend to happen because the liar thinks it’s too bizarre to be believable. They don’t think to add something strange or very unique to their embellished story. This to me points to her telling the truth.

Engaging in a sexual act in silence is a huge red flag. Not all people, but most when having sex at some point would say something. This indicates the alleged victim was unable to consent. She also blamed herself for what happened, saying it’s her fault, which is a classic response to someone being sexually assaulted.

The fact that the mother and husband immediately called the cops and Hockey Canada is evidence they thought something very serious went wrong. Details like her mother saying she saw her in the shower clasping her knees and rocking back and forth isn’t something a faker or a coordinated fake story says, especially not to the police, so it points to that being true.

The player reaching out to his alleged victim asking if she went to the police is another instance of an admission of guilt. They wouldn’t do so otherwise and they certainly wouldn’t ask what the woman could do to “make this go away”, which is another damning piece of evidence towards the player being guilty.

I believe her. I don’t see much evidence to question that it happened exactly as she alleged. Whoever is responsible for these vile acts should see jail time. I hope justice is done and the victim can one day be at peace.

  5. No to trading:

Hughes - We waited 50 years to get a guy like this in the franchise. We may never get one again. He’s the needed 1D cog that all Stanley cup winning teams have.

Demko - He’s far too talented to not bounce back. Vezina caliber goalie, just struggling right now, which all goalies go through in their careers. Clark will help him figure it out.

Pettersson - A future captain and 1C. Has a skill level very few have in the NHL and has improved enormously since he first started playing. You don’t recognize 1st year Petey compared to where he is now. He’ll continue to work hard and do whatever it takes to continue getting better. He very much reminds me of the Sedins.

Bear - He’s been a breath of fresh air, is still young in D years, only cost a 5th to get and only has a $2.2m cap while playing in a top 4 role. Imagine if he grew into that role, how much of a bargain we’d have. We need more cheaper D with good value and if he had a good, reliable partner on the back end he’d be even better.

Our promising young AHL/NHL tweener prospects - Giving up on Podkolzin, Klimovich and such would be a big mistake. They’re still learning the game and could become extremely valuable players in the future with what they bring. Selling low is a bad idea at any time unless absolutely necessary.

Don’t care what the offer is on these guys, I’m not trading them because nothing we get could ever be worth what they bring, in addition to their strong potential to improve even further. Everyone else can go for the right price, which differs for each player obviously, but no I wouldn’t take a dumb offer like a 2nd for Bo just to get “something” for fear of getting nothing like some users here advocate.

Would also like to keep Schenn as he seems to be one of the few guys who gives 100% every single game, is a leader, role model and exemplifies to our young guys how to play the right way, but he can always re-sign with us in the off-season like he did last time.

  6. This is the most Jekyll and Hyde Canucks team I can ever remember. Can beat the best or not. Can beat the worst or not. No consistency whatsoever keeping them always in the middle of the pack. It’s so incredibly bizarre how players can look dynamite one game then crap the bed in the next. I’m sure Bruce is just as frustrated as we are and if he had hair still, would have pulled it all out by now.

So one thing that baffles me on here is how so many people think Kuzmenko is gonna sign a 'show me' deal, or a bridge deal.

WHY?  WHY ON EARTH WOULD HE DO THAT?

Kuzmenko will be 27 years old by the time he signs an extension.  If you were him, and never made any big bucks in the NHL before, would YOU sign a 1 to 3 year deal that transfers ALL of the risk to you?  What if you hit a slump next season?  What if you get injured?  What if, what if, what if?

Reality is there is a really good chance that Kuzmenko hits 30 goals and 75 to 80 points this season.  Those are great numbers and puts him easily in the $7M+ AAV range.  As a UFA, I have zero doubt that a team would be more than willing to hand him a $50M deal over 7 years.

I just laugh and cringe when I see people here thinking he will go ahead and put pen to paper on a 3 year deal worth $5M per year lol.  Keep dreaming CDC... keep dreaming.

If you bet on yourself, then taking a short term deal allows you to maximize your salary potential. If he thinks he’ll continue improving and become even better then he is right now then taking say a 1-3 year deal at 6 or 7 per means that if he does produce at a higher level he can then ask for more on his retirement contract. It’s what Boeser, Pettersson and Hughes did. Let’s do the math to explain why he could choose a short term deal.

At 8 years for $6m per he makes $48m overall.

At $6m per for 3 years he makes $18m. Then if he’s a PPG player who scores 30-40 goals he can ask around 9 or 10 for the next 5 years after. Using the lower end he makes $45m over those 5 years. Add up the total and he makes $63m overall.

If he doesn’t play as well for whatever reason from an injury, chemistry issue, team issue, mental health issue, motivational issue etc then that would be a major impact to his total salary over his career. At $6m per for 3 years followed by let’s say $4m for 5 years then he makes $38m overall, a significant pay cut from what a guaranteed 8 year contract would bring.

It all depends if he wants to take the safe bet so regardless of injury or regression in his play he still gets guaranteed millions or if he wants to take a bit of a risk and sign a short term deal in order to try to make more money overall with the chance he could make less if something bad happens. One never knows when a hockey career will suddenly end. There’s lots of players who get injured and afterwards never play at the same level. Some guys want to play it safe, others want to try to get the most dollars possible.

My guess would be his preference is a short term show me deal given what we know about him already, but that’s just my personal opinion. I definitely wouldn’t be complaining if Canucks signed him long term for lower dollars. He may only mostly be getting tip in goals, but that in itself is a rare skill that’s very valuable in the NHL so he’s going to get paid big dollars regardless of his decision between a short or long term deal.

Probably a reward of a day's NHL pay, for his excellent work recently in the AHL.

Think they did the same for someone else a week back or so. D man iirc?

Wolanin I think if I recall correctly. Good move regardless, but I’d love to see him get an actual game at some point. He’s been doing very well for Abby and might just be ready to make the jump to the NHL.

So wait, he admits he didn’t ban those journalists for “doxxing” him and instead did it because the self-proclaimed free speech absolutist who has reinstated literal nazis didn’t like what they said about him? Then excuses it as “well, at least I didn’t murder them, banning them is not nearly as bad”. This clown show keeps getting better and better.

Like I said before, he thinks he’s the ruler and above all on Twitter and he needs constant gratification of love, praise and adoration. When he doesn’t get that, his brain can’t handle it and he lashes out or silences his critics. It’s quite remarkable how similar he is to another guy.

I’m very curious to see what @Smashian Kassian thinks about this given the now proven to be false reasoning they used in their argument, of why Musk said he banned those journalists, who still did a doxxing of his own. So he lied, again and proved to be a hypocrite, again on two different issues at the same time: why he banned the journalists and saying he feared being doxxed by someone tracking his plane. Genius right here.

These types of people count on ignorance/tribalism from those who either disagree with some/many/all of the beliefs of the person pointing out their obvious intentions or those who agree with the beliefs of the person being criticized to constantly side with and defend them irrespective of their actions and the validity of the argument critics have brought forward.

When a bunch of people say “this guy is a grifter snake oil salesman” and provide ample occasions of him doing exactly that, at some point, people should admit that the criticism is actually the truth, regardless of their own personal ideology or views. Even if someone agrees with what he says, he does something else contrary to it, so his word, for all practical matters, is worthless. He just uses it as a smokescreen to hide his true beliefs that only his supporters are unable to see.

Elon Musk's team seeks new funding for Twitter - investor

(Reuters) - Elon Musk’s team has reached out to investors to raise new funds for his struggling social media platform Twitter, one of the investors said.

Ross Gerber, president and CEO at Gerber Kawasaki Wealth & Investment Management, told Reuters that he was contacted by a Musk representative about offering more shares at the same price, $54.20, that Musk paid to take the company private in October.

Jared Birchall, the managing director of Elon Musk's family office reached out to potential investors this week, news platform Semafor reported on Friday, citing two people familiar with the fundraising effort.

Twitter and Musk did not respond to Reuters requests for comments.

Twitter has seen advertisers flee amid worries about Musk's approach to policing tweets, hitting revenues and its ability to pay interest on the $13 billion debt that Musk took on to buy the social media company.

Musk sold another $3.6 billion worth of shares in Tesla earlier this week, making it nearly $40 billion worth of shares in the electric-vehicle company sold this year.

Tesla shares on Friday posted their worst weekly loss since March 2020, with investors increasingly concerned about Musk being distracted by Twitter and the slowing global economy.

The guy is getting super desperate now. No one, but rich MAGA billionaires who want to own the libs at any cost will pay 3x what a company is valued at to bail out another billionaire who made a stupid investment decision.

I agree with alot of this, and you can vent to me about Elon as much as you want. I don't know that I've arrived at the conclusion he's an evil person but I wouldn't consider myself a fanboy (despite Tattooing his picture on my behind).

I mean yes, it’s true that people can care for children while also hurting them, that actually happens a lot. Again though it speaks to a lack of consistency from what he says to what he does and hypocrisy for not walking the walk while talking the talk. I don’t consider him evil, not sure how you arrived at that conclusion. What I do think is that he’s self-centered, egotistical, thin-skinned, idiotic, hypocritical, crazy and a jerk. I reserve the characterization of evil for people like Trump and Putin.
