  1. Kind of hoping the Canucks take Miro but will be happy with whoever they choose at 15 , As for the ongoing Chesney debate if they like him I would be fine with that . But if finding Hughes a partner is drafting and waiting than wouldn't a UFA or trading for a partner be the better idea for now ? They are not going after A Hughes type player , They are after a Tanev or younger schenn Type which they will probably have to do in the short term anyway . Just my thoughts

  2. HoH just wondering how you would have slotted Wright , Cooley , Slakfovsky , Nemec and Jiricek into last years draft if they were 18 year olds  than . All top 10 or 12 ? just really curious as some say this is a good draft year and others say the opposite ?

  3. I am in the Keep Miller camp Unless Unless Unless .... But I just don't see them trading for top picks in this draft as they can't or shouldn't be talking contract until after it [ unless I have that wrong ] . I think there first priority is to try to sign him so if any Top picks will be the main focus of any trade it will be for 2023 not 2022  .

I could be totally out to lunch but that is the way I see it

I think they saw a chance at the post season and that was a better option than throwing in the towel on the season.  The tdl would have brought the biggest return, but they other windows.

I just think that he does too much here and the offers that didn't bowl them over before might be as good as it will be . Having him and Horvat as the other centers frees up EP as he grows into a Top #1 center roll . If they can get some of the returns I read on here I would be all for it .Not upset if they sign him long term either as I think this mang  group will be tough but fair in all negotiations

  5. I really don't think todays signing changes anything [ until he has played a game and shows he can play in the NHL , his contract just replaces Chiassons ] . I still think when Van took Miller off the market at the trade deadline . they made a decision unless impossible to sign or an unbelievable deal is offered that wasn't before .Then he will be a Canuck for a long time

  6. Before Luke Hughes was drafted didn't he say somewhere in an interview that Quinn was almost as good playing the right side as the left ? I think it was in reference to the 2 of them being a pair if the Canucks drafted higher in his draft year . If he could it would help solve a lot of problems in the short term until the Canucks find a top RHD .

  7.  No team blew the Canuck management out of the water with an offer for JTM at the trade deadline . I know the Canucks were still chasing but if they had accepted an offer than. I think it would have been the best they will get . I know there are more teams now But those same teams could sit back until free agency and see where the chips fall as well  . I really have no idea of what a one year remaining , 99 point and leader  on a 51/2 mill contract is worth and to who  . I would expect A good NHL player , an A protect and a 1st round pick [ if it's a low 1st than maybe a second or third as well ] and even if that happens I am not sure I wouldn't just rather they resign JTM long term . Winning teams do have older veterans on them and he is a leader .

  8. Looking at a bunch of Final prospect lists after about seventh pick it is all over the place to the rest of the first round .

Personally if the Canucks stay at 15 and Miro is avail grab him and run . If they trade down and he is still available again grab him and run FASTER !!!

I always find it interesting who people choose. I've always been the type of guy that if you have a pick in the first round, you have to swing for the fences on potential. Safe bets (unless they're really high end players) I don't think are appropriate to go for in the first round or probably even the 2nd round. Go for broke the first two rounds and give'er. The real high potential guys are very very unlikely to be around by the end of round 2 so you have to take your shot. Dunno why you'd draft for anything other than a top 6 forward or a top 2 damn in the first round but I would draft a top 4 stay at home defenseman (there's plenty always in round 2 and are severely underrated on the ice). If there's no top 6 forward potential in the draft, then go for defense.

If It's Swing for the fences isn't Miro the #1 choice . Is or was he Not considered Top 5 before he got sick ? Maybe Lambert but I think he will go before 15 .

Funny enough, the inverse was probably the argument to return back to dark jerseys in the mid 2000s. Seeing the actual team colours at home instead of just white all the time is arguably more interesting.

That said, as a fan that started watching in the early 2000s, home whites gives me nostalgia back to my childhood.

Not 100% sure but changing the home jersey's dark was because of the third jersey's being used and teams having to travel with different jersey's for specific games

I think people keep thinking moving on from a player means a net lose, which is not the case unless the player walks, and then even if he does, who you sign to replace him, makes it a lesser loss, and in some cases, the player coming in can actually fill in a more important roll.

In the case of a trade like Horvat or Miller, where you are going to get very good assts back, and where you again, can use the extra cap to sign another quality player.............

I think all to often we get focused on the personality and not the results.

I agree with you J.I.A.H.N except you have to watch that the team doesn't put the cart before the horse cause the horse might be heading the other way . UFA's scare me because they tend to cost more than they are worth , don't always work out or the one you're targeting might just go somewhere else leaving you with second or third choices . Hated Van trading away all those high draft choices while we were  bottom tier [ Miller's the exception not sure about OEL and Garland deal yet ]. Would love to get a top 5 pick this year and maybe a second and  some  A prospects as well . Just mixed feeling about trading away the guys that looked so good once bb got here .
