Signing Miller to an 8 year contract would be really more of a 5 or six year deal with the intent of trading him away or buying him out later on just bringing the cap hit down for now wouldn't it ? I can see him waiting till free agency before signing if he is not blown away or traded , Most of the proposals seem to me be to teams that are in a similar state as the Canucks . I think Boston if Bergeron leaves and Pits if Malkin goes . Just don't see Miller as the Canuck New Jersey wants and not sure what other teams are interested with cap space and win now mode ?

I watched the Canucks first ever game laying on the floor at my Uncles house in front of the giant 21inch COLOUR TV screen . Have been loving those first jersey's ever since . They actually represent a " C " not just a stick and rink . Which I think is pretty cool . when I was little most of my friends would say these were the worst jerseys ever and many polls back than agreed . Not me !
Than came the " V " I hated them than and still do . Also hated the yellow
When they changed to the Skate jersey I was so glad . loved the black ones but still didn't like the yellow home jerseys . when they went to white home skate jerseys I was so pleased .
Not a big fan of the Orca jerseys but I don't hate them either .
So for me it goes 1 Stick 2 Skate 3 Orca and last never want to see again " V "
The Jersey and Logo should always be easy for kids to draw . that was how it was explained after one of the changes also why I never want NHL jerseys to look like European jerseys

This is Millers team right now . Love to watch him play has really cleaned up his play in the Canucks zone this year , Nobody seems to talk about that part of his game because his offence has been so dam good . Wish they can resign him even knowing that a 6.7 or 8 year will probably have to be bought out or traded with extra chip ins near the end . But if he just wants to go back to the states to play than the Canucks are better to find out soon and do the best they can .
For me any deal has to evolve a top end RD and a A prospect . everything else would have to be an add on , Still rather resign him

is it just me or does Cory Hirsh talk too much while the play is going on ? thought at some point Shorthouse would say something . Other than that great to see Pods get his first and Demko get his first win of the year . everybody played well looking forward to tomorrows game

All the talk about Hamonic joining camp . If the reason he is not in camp now is because he is not vaccinated than even if he got vaccinated today he wouldn't be fully vaccinated for 21/2 months ? would he even be allowed to play and travel before than ? what about the rule for Vaccination to be in Rogers arena would he be allowed in at this point ? how would the other players react after what they all went through earlier this year ? couldn't get these thoughts out of my head as I keep hearing people talk as if it is just a matter of him showing up . Hope I am totally wrong and he is joining the team soon

Funny reading people talk about the Nedvad Jagr draft as he fell to fifth after leaking that he wasn't coming to NA for sometime but told Pittsburgh he would if they drafted him . That's all I kept thinking when Podkolzin kept getting closer to the Canucks in his draft . as each pick went by it " OK one more " . I was so Excited when he didn't go 9th than it was just " OK don't screw this up " .
I compared what little I had seen and heard of him to the rookie winger drafted 2 overall Treavor Linden who was dominating along the boards had tons of skill and was future captain material

Glad to hear Petey is back in town . Both sides are doing the things that they do . they should get signed soon . But I would love to know what the holdups are . Have to think the total amount of dollars isn't an issue as Benning went and signed everyone else So ..... Last year of deals . Bonuses or length of contracts , does the agent or Benning want the same term for both or is separating a stumbling block . Canucks seem to need Petey Signed first so is that something the agent using to sweeten things up .
Sorry not sure how to word all this just the thoughts in my noggin

If or when PodKolzin is able to play first line minutes this year with Pettersson and Boeser . than you have you next 2 lines with Miller [Garland and Dickerson ] on one line and Horvat [ Pearson and hogs] on the other . Both lines should be able to put up lots of points . if you're the opposition who do you play against who ? your top line against Petey but than what . miller and Horvat should have a fun year

Maybe I have this backwards but wouldn't it be JB trying to sign both EP an Hughes to long term contracts after last year not being either of their best ? Wouldn't their agent want a Long contract singed wright after a stellar season at a potentially higher amount long term ? I can only see either wanting a bridge deal this year . I also think they must be close money wise as JB went ahead and signed everyone else knowing how much he could spend and still get his biggest contracts done . Just hate all the waiting .

I am all for Vaccine passports or anything that helps get this under control . not sure how enforcement will work . Lots of fines probably some business's might even get shut down . I do have empathy for the business's that have to make a choice but it comes down to the bottom dollar in the end . But after this all gets up and running and I am sure there will be a lot of things that will need to be sorted out . I for one Won't support a business that doesn't at least TRY to ensure everyone's safety . if the 80plus % that want passports follow this than it will make a difference

any trade talk about QH or Petty is just rubbish . yes i know just summertime fun but get real . Petty is better at his age than either Henrik or Daniel were at the same age and not just by a little either . For those that don't remember or were not old enough to hear all the crap those two went though in their early years . I believe Petty will become the best player to ever put on a Canucks jersey [ I don't count Messier as he played like a street pylon when he was here , never left the Canucks end when he was in ED and NY but wouldn't go in it for the 18 mill he was getting while he played for Canucks ] .
QH already at his age is the most exciting defenseman to ever play for the Canucks and he will only get better . the only other Canuck players that have ever been as exciting to watch were Bure the Sedins and Linden in his youth and now Pettersson so enjoy it
whatever deals they sign at least 1/2 those on here will complain about something . I'm just happy that they are here and I can really enjoy Hockey again !

There are so many people for medical reasons can never get the vaccine that would do anything in the world to be able to . So everyone Man woman and Child [ that for now is over 12 ] should be Fighting to get both shots . Not being selfish and making up reasons for NOT being a decent human being ! i am 59 fairly heathy and have both shots and will get as many as it takes to help those who can't !!!
To be clear so there is NO misunderstanding I Believe the Gov'ts are not going far enough to protect the vulnerable .

11 million doesn't happen but just for conversation sake . If it was a team that was going to be a good chance to be bottom 3 the next 4 years you would have to take it . If it was a Cup contender always picking 28-32 in the draft than no-way even at 11 mill

LOL I think EP is better at his age than Henrik Sedin was at the same age and if he continues to get better and fill out he will become the best ever player to wear a Canucks uniform [ I don't count Messier he wasn't great here OK not even good OKOK he sucked ] . If I was a GM on another team and had the space I would be throwing a huge offer sheet at him . TL was my favorite player but I think Henrik was the best with Daniel and Bure close second . sorry for the long answer ....bored

I totally agree with that . Sorry I was trying to say that EP's agent might just not get the offer sheet he is looking for if that's his goal

yeah but that wouldn't change the fact that it was a low offer sheet and not a high one . A high offer sheet does his agents job and gives a ton of leverage weather EP would sign it or not a low one says other team wouldn't give up the picks So no extra leverage

Really like to see these contracts get done asap But I would rather see them get done where both EP , Hughes as well as the JB are all satisfied . There could be so many things holding the signings up and yet still be close . Outside of the obvious How long each contract is for along with money amounts for the different lengths . You have things like Signing and performance bonuses . How are the contracts set up in the last year leading to their next contracts . No trade clause's [ seems like a no brainer but I am sure JB would want something in return ] . there must be so many other possible sticking points as well .
They both seem like great people that I for one want on the team I cheer for as long as possible . I am amazed at how many negative comments I have read on here . They are both star players , they have an agent who will do his best weather that is money and term or something else and they deserve it .
All the talk about EP getting an offer sheet . It would be his agents job to wait for one if he saw it as an advantage but could be a 2 sided blade . What if a small offer sheet was made not the 9 or 10 mill fans seem to fear . Could that not weaken his bargaining chips ? offer sheets in todays NHL i think it won't happen at least I hope not .

If Green put Hoglander on the second line with Bo after a good preseason what are the odds he doesn't do the same type of thing with Podkolzin if shows well in Camp ? If they Put Miller as 3C might Podkolzin be the one to replace him ? Setting up Petey and Boeser as apposed to the guys in Russia who couldn't make hay with all his setups [ only watched him play in the WJ and read about his play on the Russian teams ] . Was frustrating watching him play with others that never seemed to be ready for what he could do , really want to see him play with talented players

Not concerned that it won't get done just more about how much [ with all the speculation on trades or who and who they could realistically go after with their cap space ] and how long till I have to go though this again .

Nothing against Chychrun would love to have him on the Canucks but I have waited 50 years to see a real get outta yer seat very time he touches the puck defenseman on this team . I want MORE Hughes's on this team not less !
is it driving anyone else crazy that Petey and Quinn's contracts are taking so long to get done ?

Johnathan Toews thinks Horvat is a pretty good Center and Captain and I kind of agree . Could he do things different or more the way some think he should , sure . But I think the second half of last year was the best I have seen of Bo and that's what I what more of . Now do i what to see more checking and hitting from the Canucks as a team most definitely i do .
