    True

if I were a Swedish or American or Russian fan you could cheer against Canada vs a smaller hockey country. Just like a Canadian fan could cheer for them against any other more established hockey country. No need to cheer against your own country. I

    It all balances out.

    Agreed.

I like when smaller hockey nations win because it probably brings more prestige/attention to their nation's hockey program.

Hockey for everyone right?  I'd like to see the game grow.

Burke revealed that his problems between the ears were so bad that several NHL teams viewed him as an undraftable player.

"My view of this is that this is a high risk pick, I know at least two teams have told me they had Ryan Merkley as a player they would not consider in any round," said Burke when Merkley was selected by the Sharks. In other words a DND, a do not draft list player."

Talent wise he was considered 1st round calibre too.

Just shows how terrible his attitude/personality probably was (at least in his draft year).

My first stab at the lottery sim the year was encouraging. Ran it just now and immediately got the result I wanted on the first try:

I’m taking this as a sign that the hockey gods just need us to finish bottom-11 and they’ll take care of the rest. ;)

that would be cool but still not halfway through the season yet to even dabble with the simulations

If we're looking at it from the perspective of what's good for the game, wouldn't that mean you'd have wanted Slovakia to win?

A new champion would be much better for the game than the same teams winning again and again. Would grow the game around the world.

Sure? but that's like asking a Brazilian soccer world cup fan if they'd want a team like Morocco to beat them in a quarter final to show more growth in the levels of the game.

If they're directly playing one another in a knockout round, they probably wouldn't be cheering for opposing side just for that reason.

If it's against someone else then maybe.

Unless we get a yakupov and then we will have absolutely nothing for many many dark years

i've watched a few rangers games and lafreniere seems to surprisingly have somewhat of a chippy side to him.

he kind of showed a bit of that in the playoffs too against tampa (albeit with stamkos).

He's still very young too so I wouldn't count him out just yet. Maybe he just needs a change of scenery, who knows.

The sad reality is… if Sidney Crosby had done that people would be saying what an amazing leader he is, if Conner Mcdavid did it, they would claim he is a selfish whiner… if JT did it, well here are the results

    Well that's another if.

    "If Crosby also did...."

    "If McDavid did that..."

At least from the games I've watched, Crosby hasn't done it though is the difference.

I also don't watch many oilers games but McDavid hasn't done something like that so far to my understanding, nor has there been any "Sportsnet highlight" of him doing similar to that (which they would probably show since they glorify McDavid).

JT Miller has done it and acting similarly before which is why some people are finding a problem with that.

  7. Honestly, I get that everyone's kind of being reactionary with what happened with miller/delia and the loss (including myself).

This whole Miller "attitude problem" is another topic (I think Brian Burke even said that it was a red flag in his draft year), but I don't think Delia lost any sleep over what happened yesterday.

Like Deb said, they're grown adults, hockey players, and they've more than likely moved on.

The only ones continuing on about this are the people on this message board.

You show your true colors all the time.

If you're going to talk hockey, like you say, then do it.

The majority of the times, you, and others like you, are grumbling about the same BS.

If you want to change the team, do something about it instead of hitting the same beat.

While I do agree with you about how annoying it is to see the constant repetitive lashing out and b*tching that goes on about the team,

you know damn well a random fan on a discussion board can't do anything to change that.

You know it, but you say that as if it's an attainable solution to the user you're responding to.

They aren't the coach, they aren't the players, they aren't the GM. "Do something about it"?

That's like saying everyone should just stick to the status quo of everything or they can express their opinions just until it comes down to a matter of your own personal tolerance level in which they should "move on/stop".

Fans and even non-fans have every right to express their own opinions in an open discussion forum. That isn't in your control.

What's allowed or isn't allowed is for the moderators to decide, which by the looks of it so far, no one is being censored for.

That being said, I understand that there are people that just completely ruin the vibes everywhere just because they are bitter people. Any yes.

I also personally do not know how so many people could have that much time on their hands to constantly and repetitively hate or spread negativity, but there are people like that.

You don't understand them, and they don't agree with you. But no one's forcing you to mind them any attention.

    It's pretty simple.

I don't think it's fair to call people trolls because they see the major issues with this team and are frustrated that nothing has been done to address them and decide to voice their displeasure. We basically have the same team as when Benning left except for Kuzy, Mikeyev, and Bear. I find it funny when people feel they have the right to call people trolls then leave becuase they can't handle hearing truth in a lot of people's answers. It's an easy way out. I find it somewhat disrespectful. Just because you might be a longtime board poster in here doesn't give you the right to feel the need to be above anyone. Who knows there might be posters on here who have been there from the start and it's their first post. I don't think the number of posts on here should matter. Fans have a right to voice their displeasure when the organization trots out the same product and wants fans to accept it because they want their money.

    agree 100%.

there's a lot of insecure users on this board that can't stand any criticism of the team.

running it like some sort of pathetic cult. "Happy feelings only guys"

its an open freaking fan discussion board.

literally any bozo with internet access can make an account and post what they feel.

You don't need to agree with them but every opinion is subjective, which is why its an opinion.

but some people bring up "long time user" meaning you have some rank above someone like its the army.

    lmao. give me a break.

Miller is the only player who looks like he hates losing and so many people here hate him for it

thats like saying you hate eating unhealthy but still keep with having a sh*tty diet.

its one thing to "look like" you hate losing and another to actually do something about it in the game instead of floating for large portions of it (as evident in multiple games this season).

you are right, there was another incident, involving JT - *again*.  Cant recall another player on this team generating this type of behavior during a game.

Could care less if apologies are issued afterwards, this is a board where we discuss the game...its hard not to discuss such abnormal behavior

sort of makes you think about all the locker room rumours and the "toxic environment" even from last year.

right now, Miller seems like he would be in the centre of that if true.

Thing is, everyone has the choice to do whatever they choose. Anything really. BUT, you have to deal with whatever repercussions stem from your decision. I tend to have a big mouth. I have been set straight on occasion and in hindsight, I take my punishment, because I deserved it. Fans have the right to throw their jersey, I have the right to beak off at them.

Well yeah of course I agree.

You have the right to voice your displeasure at them as long as you know the potential repercussions you could face if things were to escalate.

Like you said, that's your choice.

    Other people have their own.

  13. How many players actually become players of significance for other teams though?

Our first rounder in 2015, BB6 I honestly thought would be the second coming of Bure in terms of goal scoring for us but wow he fell off.

2016 (Olli Juolevi) didn't work out, 2017,2018 subsequently went well with EP, QH.

    2019 podz 10OA still unknown...

our most recent first with lakkerimaki, looks meh.

I mean i guess i thought it was okay but... i dont think its too too bad.

However maybe its because I was traumatized by the Gillis years of drafting, the dark days when frankie freaking corrado was our top prospect.
