I fell like I'm losing it here and need to take a break.

Boeser or Garland WILL NOT get us anywhere near a 1st. We will be giving up picks just to move them. No one wants them. They are not valuable. Maybe if they were getting paid $3m a piece, but they're not.

Miller WILL NOT get us anywhere near a first. Last year yes, but this year he has a monstrous contract (not a terrible contract) but still huge. We are asking teams to do us a favour if they take him.

Seriously people need to stop thinking our players performing below their pay, on a bottom dwelling team are somehow valuable to playoff bound teams.

    i agree.

we'll just need to see what happens.

A team 11 points ahead of us, selling assets for a rebuild.

Meanwhile, we’re 28th in the standing, selling draft picks for immediate help.

I'd consider it a success if we manage to make another deal with a 1st coming back from whichever team while acquiring Hronek.

if they make another deal including any one of boeser, garland or miller for reacquiring picks... its possible.

That way we recoup the 2 first rounders we had and maybe even a 2nd back.

We'll see what happens by the end of friday.

  3. how about we just stick to an identity for once.

i hated the orca at first (because of orca bay) but i can manage now.

the colours, blue, green and white are a perfect representation of the Pacific Northwest and specifically Vancouver.

Also the orca inhabits the waters of Vancouver so it's not completely random or unrelated to the region.

the flying skate jersey makes me think we play for team germany.

  4. bad thing is we traded our 2nd (which will be a good 2nd rnd pick) in a deep draft, and the 1st that could potentially end up being a top 10 pick next year or a top 15 this year.

good thing is we finally added a legitimate, fairly young RHD top 4.

On a winning, competitive team, I only see Hughes and Hronek as legitimate top 4 defencemen.

We still need two more for our team to fill up those roles.

We have enough 5/6 calibre defencemen already.

Overall, content that we got a good defenceman but not so glad we gave up that conditional 1st AND our 2nd.

How many 3rd round picks become anything?

If he doesn't sign here again, this 3rd round pick cost us him, and potential future players who don't sign here because of how we treat players/coaches etc.

    Hopefully I'm wrong.

    seriously?

is schenn the "be all end all" of defencemen for us?

you're treating it as if we just traded scott niedermayer or bobby freaking orr.

    relax.

  6. i find it hilarious that in the meier thread most fans on these message boards were ridiculing the sharks for the return and comparing it to the already completed Bo Horvat deal.

now in this Jeannot one, people are salty that NSH absolutely fleeced TBL and again are comparing it to the already completed Horvat deal.

What, are you gonna complain to PA to turn back the time so he could rescind the trade and do it over now to another team? lmao.

    The Horvat deal is finished.

We got what we got (which was a decent return, i don't think it was too impressive but it was also not bad).

    Stop comparing them.

Why does that look like a better Return than Horvat

lol. because it is when you consider the pieces involved.

a 25 year old third line winger who hasn't even cracked 15 points this year for a young, potential top 4 defenceman and a plethora of picks.

  8. So in the last month..

We traded an overpaid $8.5 mill per year Horvat, a replaceable bottom six forward type player in Lockwood, and a 7th in 2026

    for:

Beauvillier, Raty (who could keep developing well), a 1st in either 2023/2024 and a former 9th OA pick in Kravtsov who could very well reach top 6 potential?

We added a couple of young B to A level prospects and a first round pick?

I'm really happy with these deals. Management did do what they said they would do.

I think they know exactly what they are doing but they don't really need to give you or I or anyone else a play by play of what their real plans are as that would tip off the rest of the league as to what is really going on here.

My astute observation over the past year is that JR likes to talk, but he also likes to deceive.  He hired Allvin who is really good at talking alot and saying nothing.  Unlike Jim Benning, they try and keep things under wraps until it happens.  The Horvat trade is a key example.  The one time the media found out about their plans in advance it backfired on them spectacularly, which was the Boudreau firing.  I don't think they are going to make that mistake again, and JR has promised to keep his mouth shut and let Allvin do the talking, which we know leads to him not saying anything...

Hmm well I don't think the Horvat trade was something management tried to keep hidden necessarily.

Everyone knew it was likely bound to happen.

The team situation and all the events leading up to it such as the rejected contract offers and even management outlining that they wanted the roster player, pick and prospect package for any type of trade, was eventually something that ended up happening.

I guess if anything, the Miller re-signing was the one that probably threw off a lot of canuck fans and even the rest of the league, which was pretty much the opposite of the Horvat ordeal.

However, I do agree with your point that they don't owe anyone an explanation.

The results will speak for themselves.

If they throw Demko in at this point then it is a shoe in that he is getting traded at the deadline.

I'm actually really confused at what their trying to do.

    "retool not rebuild".. wtf?

If they do trade Demko, doesn't that mean they're committing to a rebuild?

We don't exactly have star quality goaltending in our pipeline. It's pretty desolate and empty in terms of our defence and goaltending prospects.

Is management just assuming we'll magically get an elite level goaltender somehow?

After Demko leaves, poof, out of nowhere?

I feel like they don't have a damn clue what they're doing.
