Country Club mindset I guess you only play when there's no pressure to win

Exactly which is very concerning but as I said I guess this is our playoffs for a lot of people. It definitely isn't an assessment period as he is riding Hughes and Miller. How is that assessing for next year? He should be playing Podz and Kravtsav.

Aquilini isn't going to greenlight a full rebuild. You can either take your meds, deal with it, and join us in being optimistic, or you can be pessimistic and miserable. Your call.

Well it's called going by their history and past years. You would be foolish not to. We heard all the same crap the last few years. It's just funny what your willing to accept until they actually carry it into next year it means absolutely nothing.

Maybe this is just foolish optimism, but perhaps maybe the team isn't as bad as the first half of the season led us to believe and it just needed a healthy Demko and the right coach to pull it together? It's just difficult not to put my guard up because this exact scenario played out at the end of last season as well.

If I think about it like "We're a decent team that had an awful first half and we're going to get a pick in the top 12 of the draft because our our bad start"  instead of "We're an awful team that started flukily winning games at the worst possible time which cost us a high draft position", I start to feel a bit better about the current situation.

Can't wait for a full training camp and next season.  We look like a totally different team now.  Once all the pieces are in place, we'll be good.

It's so funny how we have heard this the last three years. People just forget I guess or are just easy to please and forgive. Sometimes some of these fans in this fanbase just never learn.

I'd be interested to see how much overlap there is between the fans that demand the team replace the seats with blue or green ones and the fans that demand the team switch back to the skate full-time.

Ya they can't really change the seats to blue and green if they go full time with the skate jersey. Something tells me they will just keep the orca because of the money it would take to switch over but man do I love the new black skate jerseys. They just pop and look mean.

Pucks mostly bounce because they are not properly frozen to -14F, but can be affected somewhat by ice conditions but that is not so much a problem here since we have one of the best ice sheets in the league.  I've actually skated on it recently as a STH invite and can vouch for it's quality which is unlike any ice surface I've ever skated on.

If you have 5 minutes, here are a couple of articles that describe NHL ice quality and puck preparation.

I am sorry but it doesn't look like one of the best ice sheets and other teams players are complaining. Rogers has had tons of complaints about the ice.

That's the thing though. The core isn't bad. The core handful of guys are actually great. Pettersson is one of the best forwards in the league, Hughes one of he best Dmen, and Demko one of the best goalies. Miller (when he decides to pull his head out of his ass) and Kuzmenko are two of the better forwards in the league as well. And yet it's always something. Demko was hurt, Pettersson was hurt, the defense is a mess outside of Hughes, the bottom 6 are bad, we had covid, we have badly constructed team, we have too much cap tied up in wingers.

I just don't know what to think any more.

I think they need to get rid of Boeser and Garland.

Sure. Those kinds of guys (like Miller) are not easy to get. But to me the key core is the five guys listed. Goalie. #1C. #2C. #1D#2D. A big, tough, scoring winger could be considered a key core piece too. I accept that.

I just like it because I think there needs to be a bit more toughness to our top 9. I miss Bertuzzi in his prime. Maybe Josh Anderson.

He is the final piece of the key core.

Demko, Hughes, Hronek, Petey, Miller.  That’s a great key core. Now we work on completing the supporting cast so the key core can attain their best.

I see. I still think we need one more tough scoring forward but where can you find those? Everyone wants one those type of forwards. They are rare.

I won’t agree with you on intentionally losing games, but this right here is bang on.

I think the winning at the end just gives me bad vibes of how this team does this every year and the retool is part of it. They have tried and tried and when they made the Hronek deal and it wreaked of speeding up the process. Trading picks every year has hurt this franchise long term. The winning now gives them I am sure that good feeling they have gotten every year. It just hasn't translated to the next year so when people say oh wait until next year its like ya but we said that last year and we hear the players talk every year about starting out strong. It's a combination of things. A eye roll tends to happen until they change the storyline.

If you’re referring to the Islander’s first we got for dumping Bo, then your argument makes no sense. We moved that pick for a 25 year old top pairing right shot D. That’s called building. It’s a smart move. We basically traded Bo for a more important piece.

We also gave up a second and the last few years we have been giving out seconds like crazy. Please don't pretend that they haven't traded multiple 1st and second rounders. The fewest picks for a team that finished at the bottom as often as this team has.

  12. Again. It's not about them missing out on the chance to draft Bedard. It's the fact they decide to keep trading picks when they are at the bottom of the league and they don't have a strong farm system. It is not sustainable to keep trading their picks and think they can be a top team long term. I just think they have and are neglecting the long term sustainability of this franchise to win now which has up to this point not worked. I guess keep trying until it works. I think I am just angry with Aquilini and his greed for making the playoffs and not building a contender or a sustainable contender. It just wreaks of lazy, fast tracking that has hurt this franchise.

It’s called pride. As in, having/taking it in what they do. While the Vancouver Canucks really haven’t fielded a squad to chirp about for a decade, I still love this franchise, and get absolutely no thrill up my leg whatsoever when it loses. I’m going out on the proverbial limb here by saying I don’t think the coaches and players do, either, and I’d be hella disappointed if they were lacing up the skates with draft day in mind.
That’s something for management and ownership to consider on the daily, not coaches and players.

Well I was pretty disappointed when they decided to not show up for most of the year and this has been a yearly occurrence. Where was their pride then? They have played like crap at the beginning of each of the last few years. What did they have in mind then? The summer?

I never said you have to, I’m not trying to control you, it’s an honest suggestion. If you’re this miserable that you are endlessly complaining and negative look for something constructive to do until this team doesn’t make you this depressing

How does what I post affect you? I think you just need to worry about what you post. You want to respond. Fine but come on. You can't take what I am posting and it bothers you or you wouldn't make comments like those. Not my problem.

How is this not trying to control what someone does? "If you’re this miserable watching a sport find another team or something else to do. " LOL.

Your posting is straight up trolling and sad. If you’re this miserable watching a sport find another team or something else to do.

Your opinion. I don't have to. lol. Block me if you want. It's funny how you are trying to control what people want to say on here. I am fine right where I am so deal with it. I will be here long term.
