I agree - there is no point putting a skilled team together to win the league, all you need to do is just about make the post season and then goon it up and watch as the teams that play hockey get broken down by those who don’t want to.

games should be called the same as during the season and whistles shouldn’t be swallowed. It’s hard enough winning a series - let along 4 to win the cup without having to play by a different ruleset

I for 1 do not want to watch regular season reffing in the playoffs. I say let them go to war just call it evenly.

If we can tie up and shut down O’Reilly we have a sold chance. hit him every chance we get

Perron had a solid season but he is getting up there in years and we need to make life tough for him as well

in my mind, Tarasenko will be a wildcard. If he is healthy we will have our hands full

the then there is schenn, tough player that can score

Binnington played over his head last year, we can get to him

Would assume O Reilly will be all over Pete he isn't the type of player to cross the line. It will be a good battle between those 2.

  3. Olli and Rathbone, Rathbone and Olli,Olli, Rathbone, Olli.

We can have both. They both offer completely different skillsets. Olli has slick passing and is willing to pay the price infront of the net led Utica in blocked shots. Rathbone has speed too burn in the "new" NHL. We will see how effective he is in the NHL with it.

I think the Canucks should lean towards a more active uptempo D and see if we cant unleash this teams offence. Lord knows we don't have the tools to play the trap shutdown hockey.  But we may be able to dominate at run and gun.

Don’t forget he’s competing with Holtby too... not many teams will have the cap space both these guys were likely hoping for as raises.   And the ones that do aren’t that appealing as competing now goes (bad teams).  Lehner is also a UFA ... add in Covid it’s a bit of a buyers market for goalies this summer.   All three of these guys have been in recent Vezina conversations including one winner.   One could argue it’s one of the better markets for high end goalies we’ve had in some time ..   I doubt any of these guys are getting what they hoped they would - and bet Lehner wishes he had a better offer last year with some term on it (and he was brilliant).   Think it was one year at 5.  And Bobrovsky was off the table and still the best he could find.

Lehner had a history of substance abuce and one good season he also split starts with another historically mediocre goalie who also had a career year. So many red flags.

  5. I don't think the Canucks have much bargaining power. Basically the Canucks have their parameters in which they can work and it's up to him if he is willing to work within that or decides he wants greener pastures. We simply can't match some of the contracts he would be offered elsewhere.
