  1. Kassian put together 5-6 very very solid games in a row about a month ago Was he rewarded with more ice with offensive players for more than a few shifts? How about consistent PP time? No, he was not.

He played very hard and was the drive on every line he played on during that string of games and the first sign of a mistake he was punished and put back on the 4th line with plugs. What kind of message is that sending a young player? Don't give me that garbage about he's not earning his shot. He earned a legitimate chance at a top 6 role for an extended period, not just a few shifts here and there and no PP time. He's a pure offensive player, he needs to be in a role that plays to his strengths, not accentuates his weaknesses.

IMO JT sucks at player management

"He earned a legitimate chance at a top 6 role"

    lmao.

  2. That's an unfair argument. How many of those players are PWFs?

So being named a power forward gets you a free pass? What's so special about powerforwards? They are still forwards that shoots and passes the puck. Is there a hidden rule about powerforward where they have to hold back their power when they are young?

  3. I think if Vanek resigns, NYI won this trade. With the addition of Vanek, NYI pretty much is guaranteed a playoff spot; which means that their 1st rounder will be low. Vanek is also way underrated, he is a quality franchise player who does not need good players on his line to be good. The draft pick is also overrated, what's the chance that a 1st rounder turns into a top 6 player? More than half? I don't think so.

  4. Well Cody scored a whole goal in the 6 game head start he had on the season while Kassian was sitting out serving his suspension. Yeah, that was a huge lopsided trade of massive proportions. A whole goal in six games. That is on pace for 14 goals...last year Zack scored 7 in 39 which was on pace for...wait for it...

    15 goals

Just sayin in all seriousness now, we won't be able to judge that trade until the body of work of the players involved is completed. All we know is some people really like Cody. cough.

Hodgson >>>>> Kassian. Come back to me when Kassian scores 20 goals instead of baseball swinging his hockey stick and getting suspended.

Oh ya, you also forget to mention Hodgson is 6 games, 1 goal and 4 assists. Almost a point per game player that every team in the league starves for.

  5. Im actually now leaning towards we need to rebuild our entire second line. The reason that made the tipping point is Derek Roy. Roy was hugely ineffective playing for us on the second line. But he is blasting it up in St Louis with 5 points in 4 games. This tells me, that Roy can produce and he is a more than competent second line player, but the problem were his line mates. It means that if we keep on filling our second line with the usual players: Kesler, Booth, Higgins, Burrows, Hansen, it is not going to work.

  6. Dang hopefully we get something done with him, his importance to this team is quite understated IMO

Are you gonna tell us we lost the playoffs because Tanev was injured?

Truth was, no one noticed he was not playing.

My stance on Tanev is that he is a solid dman we should be keeping. But let's not overrate him for no reason. There is little chance he will turn into Edler 2.0, which I am sure some of you are dreaming about.

  7. Awesome. Now we can have...

    - Ballard playing every night (with confidence) instead of being in the press box half the season

    - Goalies who don't have their heads messed up because they do not know what their coach is thinking.

    - Prospects put in a position to develop in the big club

    - Offense who can score more than 1 goal per game (only accounting for Boston series) in the playoffs for 3 years straight.

    - When we run into penalty trouble in a series, the coach will actually make adjustments, and work with the players to make a better result.

    - Ebbett off our team -- replaced with an actual NHL player.
