  1. I have no idea what they were thinking past our first 2 picks but Bains Hirose and mcWard look alright so maybe they aren completely inept but ya. Doesn't look good most of the guys they picked past Hunter were "interesting" I dunno though I'm no scout.
  2. Pretty sure that's what we drafted all the overages this year. Hopeful one of them turns into a bottom 6 on an elc. I dunno though none of them seem particularly promising.
  3. Wish him the best. But unless both Hughes or Hronek go down I can't see him getting more than another cup of coffee. Even then I think Hirose's leap frogged him.
  4. A bit more like letting Anton Roussel walk to Dallas after he went to war for us on the Wolves and instead signing Cam Barker because he was a former 3rd OA busteroo.
  5. To the crowd that says if we don't In some ways yes I agree things are improving. Our armature and pro scouting is much better we have more hockey minds in our FO, they aren't rushing every kid into the show and actually developing on the farm. This is all incredibly positive. While I don't think Benning was as terrible as some around here he really screw'd the pooch with the OEL trade up until that point we were trending in a positive direction. The bad money was 1 season away from being off the books. I'm curious how big a role the Sedins played in Bennings 2 biggest blunders the Loui signing and the OEL trade. Regardless...... That OEL trade was in the works for a long time. Aqua had a long time to seek outside counsel who would have told him to veto the trade and fire Benning for the mere suggestion. If we had just straight up run it back we would have drafted top 5 and all the poison would be out of our system. At the cost of 1 season of poor ratings and ticket sales. To say that Alvin is a breath of fresh air is a bit rich though.
  6. I think like most I remain hopeful. Like you said maybe they move Brock or Garland or both Pod and Hog come into their own. Maybe Brock finally delivers. IMO probably in that case the best way up would be to sell high on Kuzz regardless MGMT needs to make some hard potentially unpopular choices.
  7. is it sustainable? We pay Pete 12 next year and the OEL buyout starts kicking our ass. How much do we pay Hronek? Whats left on the bone? Sure Myers Cole and Beau come off it may offset but I don't see how we trend up? Alvin is going to have to do some real GMing not just fritter around the edges.
  8. Hog will get picked up. Alvin has to move cap put his big boy pants on and fix his mess on the wing.
  9. I have been a fan for 40 years +/- I can see the direction things are headed the short sighted moves the wasted draft picks and lack of vision. This does not make me less of a fan. I cheered for the Canucks through the Keenan years and the Benning years and now the Alvin years. Just because I don't love everything they do does not make me a bandwagoner. The OEL buy out was impatient. If they had waited a year the penalty would have been much more manageable but this mgmt much like the last is living day to day. This year we should be stockpiling picks and drafting top 3 not making a half hearted last ditch one and done cinderella run at the playoffs if all the stars align just right and Demko miraculously makes it through the season un injured. We what buy at the deadline? This is moronic. They are going to waste this cores prime by not taking their medicine and cultivating the farm. Lekkerimaki and Willander coming in on ELC's in 3 years are not enough to propel us to contenders. Having my eyes open and having criticism of what I see to be mortgaging our future for a mediocre present does not make me less of a fan of our club. Compounding our cap problems by loading up our wings is not the change we need. We have nearly 30m spent on wingers and no sand paper in our top 9. What's going to happen if we actually make the playoffs? As a true fan I don't want to be sold this snake oil I'm willing to go through the lows to reach the highs.
  10. This∆ We are on a very long road with no push from the farm. Lekkerimaki Is not close to being an impact player in the NHL anytime soon we're going to have to be patient with him. He could still be an incredible player in his prime at +25 when he's fully matured. I feel like rushing him into the league <22/23 yo would be a huge mistake. Willander is also a solid 3 years out before he will be a meaningful NHLer. Our scouts are going to have to keep digging gems like Bains Hirose if this re tool stands a chance when Pete's making 12 mill and that OEL penalty kicks in. We need to be preparing for the reality that if we can't ice a competitive team it might be time to dismantle and re build.
  11. I didn't see players avoiding playing in the US when they invaded Iraq and Afghanistan.
  12. This was a bad trade. Not because it was a bad gamble. It was a fine gamble for a guy who I'm sure they spoke to Pod about before the trade. It was a bad trade because of the message it sent. Lockwood was one of our hardest working youngsters. He plays the right way in your face pain in the arse keep you head up Canucks hockey. He worked hard for his callups and when he was called up he hustled and was a standout player. This is what we want our farm to be about. And I feel like shipping Lockwood especially for a guy who refused to put in the work on the farm sent a really poor message from management.
