Watching this year's playoffs it seems to me that physical size, strength and agression are essential for success as well as skill and speed.

Watching the Islanders playing the in the SCup playoffs tonight it puzzles me how they could have won the first pick overall. Surely there is something wrong in the lottery system tha this could happen.
Shouldn't the draw for 1-3 be amongst teams that did not make the playoffs?

If he has 5 points and is still minus 6... that is pretty dismal

Dear Alex,
We want you to win it.
We want you to win it because you slayed the dragon.
We want you to win it because you saved the franchise, and took the Sedins to new heights.
We want you to win it for every undrafted twenty-year-old kid. Every kid who still has that burning passion, that fire inside, and that unwillingness to give up on their dreams.
We want you to win it to show big Jake, that where you're drafted and how talented you are is meaningless if you're not willing to work. If you're not willing to give your heart to the sport and put every ounce of effort you have into every game.
We want you to win it because you're the ultimate competitor, the toughest to play against, and the best teammate.
We want to see you shoot that arrow to the sky one more time, and then lift the cup towards Luc.
And let’s be honest; we want you to win it just to piss off all the haters one more time.
Signed sincerely,
A Canucks fanThis!

I think it's all in the camera angle for the photo. And the hair is different.
When I first saw this photo of Desjardin:
I thought he looked a lot like this guy:
The moustache and hair are similar, but Desjardins is without the "Stars".

G.
He left his stars in Dallas

Yet another sign of just how worried they are about season ticket holders renewing.
I doubt that I will this year after 10 years of hoping.

"In the end, the Canucks have precious little to show for what was once one of the game's top goaltending tandems. A year ago, they had Cory Schneider and Luongo, now both are gone and the Canucks have Matthias and a couple of prospects (Markstrom and ninth overall pick Bo Horvat) in return.
If the Canucks take a hit on the salary cap because of recapture five or six years down the road, well, that's just a bitter aftertaste to a situation that hasn't been very pleasant for the past couple seasons anyway." TSN

Aha.....so it is Tegan and Sarah Patrick !?!.....that explains it.

Brutal give-away on the Kunitz goal.....Daniel looked pretty "done" all game.
Still .... the Canucks come home with two Gold medals and two Silver! Not bad!
-
Daniel has played well in Sochi and is playing for Gold!
-
Luie Erickson? what would we have to give Boston?
-
Not sure that Daniel with Kesler and Santorelli is going to help Daniel score. Neither of those players are set-up type players. Kesler is a one-man show ... a good one sometimes but can't see him helping Daniel.

Why do people think he is worth anything like what is suggested here. He played well for the Giants but looking at his stats he has not done much since then. What is his upside?
-
Yes, secondary scoring is huge problem but what has been a more glaring problem this season so far is our defensive end play. We have been constantly checked off the puck causing frequent turnovers and glaring give-aways. While we pressured up ice much better we have handed too many gift goals to other teams. (Before you say it....yes I was at the games)

Ruff and Tippet gone

You are an effing moron.
Sorry...but that happened.
Oh...watch Boston's first 3 rounds of the playoffs. Copied AV's/Walter's zone matching to a T.
San Jose does it....the Pens WANT to do it (and tinkered with the concept when Staal was in the fold)...but Geno is so awful at the dot that Blysma gets even craftier with the same idea and double shifts Sid from time to time to take face offs for the second line.
Red Wings do it...but use different set plays after a win.
So please...just stop being a dink.
I know it is father's day but really your father worship is really showing. Still I guess there has to be one person who blindly believes this rubbish about AV.

Or...has Gillis been beaten out again by a better GM?

The commentary on Torts was that he favoured a defensive shot-blocking style and then his team could not score! Is that what we want in Vancouver?
