  1. Taking a 100k paycut after doubling your production is pretty rough. Players wanting to play for decent teams might be getting kind of desperate...Evan Rodrigues come to Vancouver
  2. Here's the full write-up from Scott Wheeler. It's honestly huge praise. The list can be anyone up to 23 years old and Lekkerimaki is sitting at 20th best prospect in the league on his list. He's extremely young and already above Dylan Guenther, William Eklund, Cutter Gauthier (taken 5th oa this year). Not sure if it's already been discussed on here but Lekkerimaki paced for second on Djurgardens in goals last year after the call-up despite his age. He lead the WJC U-18 tourney in points and assists last year.
  3. Podkolzin is an absolute gem, already one of my favourite Canucks of all time. Landing an old KHL teammate of his on a ELC must be super exciting for him too. The fact that Kuzie and Mikheyev know each other from int'l play and Mikhe has also essentially been a lone Russian (besides a couple prospects) in Toronto must be super exciting for all three. All three players fill a role on paper that the Canucks need, but also being stoked to be on a team and start a year has value that is incredibly difficult to measure. Let's gooooo
  4. say good-bye to the 2022 Karpat-Canucks Juho Lammikko Jesse Puljujarvi reunion we were all dreaming of
  5. That deal still isn't enough IMO. Garland's 5-on-5 skills would be upgrade over how Beauvillier & Wahlstrom looked last year so that's part of what I was valuing. I think if they are forced, which I still doubt for the record, to put Dobson on the market, they'll be able to acquire a 1st from a team. There's very few teams that would not be (maybe Arizona, Chicago) contending for his rights.
  6. Hagel, Tkachuk/Huberdeau, Pacioretty & McDonagh, Dadonovx2 trades should be used a framework for understanding the value of age and cap in this flat cap era until there's a sure sign it's ending IMO.

Its very hard to use the Patch, McDonagh or Dandonov as understanding the value in the flat cap as they were all cap dumps by teams way over the cap.

  7. also that Kuzma article should be a fireable offense. jfc
  8. Miller + Rathbone for Dobby would be too big of a steal. Supply & demand of a young, strong, two-way RHD with great offensive numbers who can handle big TOI without any major flaws is one of the most sought after positions in the league. I also think Lou Lam highly values Dobson, and all signs point to him burning a 1st rounder to bring in a decent partner for Dobson, so unless Dobby is pulling a Tkachuk, I strongly doubt he's moved. If he does pull a Tkachuk, many many teams will be putting in big offers for his rights or the second ever sign and trade. Miller, Garland, Rathbone, Hoglander & a 2024 1st for Dobson and either Beauvillier or Wahlstrom is probably a starting point if Dobby has already demanded a trade IMO.
  9. Part of me believes that, a part of me believes they'd be just as happy to wait until the TDL to get a better assessment of Nemec and figure out if they're in a playoff spot - might seem like a stretch, but they have a # of players who are ready to take the next step forward, a solid D corp now with the addition of Marino and Nemec, an experienced winger Palat, and if Vanecek works out finally healthy goalie. At the same time, a lot of talent has made its way over to the Metro division. Gonna be a bit underpredictable but I could see Fitzy seeing his team ready for some wins before moving on from Sevy, even if it means slightly lower value. I watched a lot of Devils last year and their team has big potential. Could go either way. Kind of feels like a JT w/ Canucks situation. At the same time, if they wanted to add JT, he'd be the perfect player to balance out their top-6 and give them a better chance to compete against NYR, Carolina, and the new era CBJs. Islanders, Caps, Philly, haven't really gotten any better. Pens improving or aging is a wildcard IMO.
  10. one of the most underrated defensive defensemen in the league. Absolutely worth the AAV.
  11. Nah, to me Adam's brother Jesper is minor part of a larger deal, who is young, very fast, has been deployed in a defensive role and done well despite being drafted as a dynamic offensive player, is cheap, can play C or W, has a ceiling (with some risk) to play the C hole that would be left in a Miller trade. In the same vein, if Allvin could bring Rodrigues in instead, I would be indifferent to Boqvist being added to the deal unless another winger (Pearson, Dickie, Hoggie) was going with Miller.
  12. I mean, it's not quite Leon Draisaitl I know you're just framing this is as terribly as possible, but Miller is also a guy who could walk so it's kind of a wash in that regard, if old pals Fitzy and Allvin let each other talk extension that's another story. It's more about moving from a position of strength in an undervalued position in today's market to a position that is really hard to acquire atm, a young player who could step in the 3C position along with bringing in futures in Bahl who is a local kid who would instantly become a top pairing defenseman on Abbotsford and a decent 2nd rounder in a deep draft on top of that. "A guy that could walk or we have to overpay to keep" could be logic applied to Miller in almost any circumstance except for a Colorado trade if they're gonna try to bring him in as a rental in the first place.

  14. Now that Jarmo has signed Gaudy and Laine they really need an elite C to complete that line
  15. OEL - Klinger would be a great pairing if Myers could be cleared. As much as I love the chaos giraffe his stats were definitely buoyed by playing with OEL who was extremely solid. Klinger is a pretty major upgrade on Myers and would give that pairing some offensive ability too. Hughes & Klinger on PP1 would also be dynamic. Saying that, IMO it only makes sense to get Klingberg if Myers is cleared somehow. As good as Klingberg would be with OEL, he should NOT be the partner Allvin should be looking for to play with Quinn Hughes IMO.
  16. JT for Severson, Bahl, Boqvist & a 2nd would be amazing for the Canucks IMO
