One area we've "nailed it" is with tenders in the past 13-14 years. Luongo, Schneider, Marky, Demko and Demmer could be the best because of his calm demeanor and consistency. Excellent pick from "the Benning era"
Remember when we were the graveyard for goalies until Louuuu came along?

Pearson was given a NTC and no one wanted Hamonic off of waivers earlier on because of the uncertainty around him being able to play. Can’t see either being traded anytime soon even for cap relief.
Take a look at our cap 2 years out. Benning kicked the cap hell can down the road. There won’t be cap to keep everyone or improve the team.
Pearson has a 7 team M-NTC 2022-2023 so I can see him getting traded for sure.
Boeser seems to be the logical one to trade compared Millsy and Bo depending on how we're playing and what our playoff hopes look like. I like Brock, but Miller and Bo bring more intangibles to the team at center, and championship teams always have a solid core of top 3 centers.
I don't mind Hamonic at 3M if he can stay healthy once he returns from this injury. He's a great pairing D man with Quinn and brings some badly needed toughness to our team.
In the end I like the fact that Rutherford will not hesitate to make a move once he's evaluated the team by the end of January.
Whatever it takes to build this group to a contendaaaa!

Not to mention being in Hartford and Carolina prior to the cap presented a stiff obstacle.
The fact he built a winner in Carolina was quite the feat.
Just pleased that we have a 3 cup prez, and one of the winningest coaches right now.
They may be old but they know what it takes to take us to the next level and command the respect that we have been sorely missing.
We have a Norris caliber D man in Hughes, Vezina caliber tender and deep forward crew at the right age.
a few trades, tweaks and we could be there sooner then people expect with the right guidance.

So in a week we go from the least experienced management and coaching to the most.
Looking forward to seeing who the GM will be, but pretty confident he wont be new to the roile.
yeah, good with that!

Some posters think we should trade this guy?
For what?
Big Ty is a C without a C imo.
Good point,
yes Myers may have a gaffe here and there , just like Edler use to. But he adds size, Offense, hard minutes, and most importantly a level headed voice in that room. I would say he's #3 on the roster behind Bo and Miller for leadership and someone to take issues to.

Not sure about that Horvat played under Hunter in London
I want to see the old Horvat that would break a stick, beat up the competition, and slam the bench door once in awhile. Boudreau sounds he will want this as well
More emotion, less keeping calm at all costs under Greens suppression system

Haven't seen this combo through all the line blending ... Net front presence with Chiasson still so will see.
While offense is more interesting, looking forward to seeing his PK combo's with a more aggressive attack I hear.
Just win BB!

I wasn’t a huge fan of the retool era. Delayed things. But this is a team you can actually retool with lots of young pieces. I personally do not wanna see any moves. Other then what the coach has to play with. Calling up a player or two or ditching Chiasson as an example. We have till the deadline to properly assess this team
This.
Retool was all about the Sedins and being loyal to arguably the best players in franchise history.
Benning had built a decent core to work with and they're still young.
Add muscle, and D depth and we can still be a contender in a few years, should be a playoff team next year.

I wonder if this opens the door for Linden to come back in some capacity
Bringing back any ex employee under the same ownership, generally is a recipe for failure so I hope he doesn't.

This is deja vu with Gillis hiring Torts as a last gasp for the existing core , and Bennings doing his hail mary trade with Phoenix.
Both under Aqua pressure to make the team competitive now.
Main difference is the current team is in or entering their prime so there's a good chance the new kids can right this ship. We have the horses I believe, just need to shore up the D depth.
A Miller trade for a true top 4 D man would make sense. Hate to see him go but he's our most valuable asset right now

What about drafting and developing your own? Benning has one defenceman on his roster at the moment that he has drafted and developed after 8 years. The NYI entire top 4 defence was drafted and developed by them.
I'm not sure how much weight that has as Tampa , Colorado and Toronto have 1 draft in their top 4 as well, but must admit that our stable of D men is not great.
Rathbone has the potential of a top 4 in a couple years and maybe Woo can slot into a top 6 position in 2 years
Juolevi was supposed to be our Edler replacement that could log hours, PK work and be that defensive LD man that we desperately need right now.
