Lots of talk about Jakes unimpressive starting the 1st line. I don't really think its lack of effort rather then being lost in his role with 2 elite forwards. Jake can be a dominant forward playing a simple game. Petey and Brock are not those players. Jake had a good camp, drove hard to the net and showed that he wants to shake his reputation of inconsistency but that needs to be in a role hat supports his game which at best on the 2nd line. So what does that leave the team Bo would be the best forward that we have to make this a real threat but that's loading up to much and making it an easy shutdown for opposing teams. Hoglander has the skill level but would really hurt them overall defensively and he has gelled well on the 2nd line with 2 strong 200' forwards. Pearson could be the best option bringing some size , decent board control and enough hockey IQ to help the line on both ends of the ice, but why breakup the 2nd line that has really connected and again been our best line so far. Although I thought Gaudette would be a decent option that really hurts our offense on the 3rd line if Sutter has to slot in. Sutter beagle an Motte make a great shutdown line most of the time and they all work their role pretty well albeit overpaid. That leaves Roussel as the best 1st line option IMO He has the energy , speed and defensive awareness to support the first line while keeping our other lines relatively intact. He also has shown a decent hockey IQ especially before he was injured early in his Canucks days. Mac or Loui would slot in on the 3rd line. If Mac doesn't give us an aggressive forecheck, sticking up for his mates and some offense, then we are left with Loui who has probably played his best hockey for the Canucks on the 3rd line. Flame away ! No pun intended considering who we're playing tonite

Very sad to see this happen when people come into a lot of money very quickly Many stars before him in the NHL have run into financials issues for a ton of reasons including gambling and family pressure.. Even the greatest player of all time #4 https://www.thethings.com/nhl-stars-who-lost-everything-where-are-they-now/ -
Finish 3rd in division beat Winter-peg in round one and and lose to Vegas round two Edler goes down with injury for half the season and olli steps in nicely to take over the top 4 position with Schmidt by his side Holtby has a bounce back year playing majority of game as Demko loses 15 games due to injury Hamonic makes us forget about Tequila and allows Hughes to have a Norris caliber season selected in top 3 for NHL top D Hoglander gets off to quick start but fizzles by mid season and Jake finally sticks to the tops 6 for the balance of the season Loui is sent to Utica with Baer and decides to retire at the end of the year to head back to Sweden to play in the old timers league disappointment of the year is Sutter who gets injured for half the season and never gets his game back leaving Gauds to come up big in 3rd line center role Unsung hero of the year is Roussel enjoying his best season of his career with 35P still continuing to piss off the competition Brocks gets his shot velocity back and is the top scorer on the team Petey- 25G 33A 58P Brock 27G - 27P 54P Miller 22G 30G - 52P Huggy 9G 43P - 52P Bo - 20G - 29A 49P Jake- 20G 22A - 42P

Had the same question. didn't notice him too much in the scrimmage but honestly was focusing more on other players. earlier 2020 comments... “It was well-established going into this season that Marc Michaelis would be one of the big names in undrafted NCAA free agency. His robust scoring profile at Minnesota State (Mankato) and competent showings in international competition for Team Germany warranted that sort of attention, too. Michaelis is a pass-first skater that can play just about any position at forward. He has about NHL-level offensive instincts, vision, and defensive habits, too. The big hurdle for Michaelis is going to be improving his skating. There’s plenty of room for growth there. If everything breaks right, I like Michaelis’ chances of developing into a fourth-line forward at the NHL level.

Canucks are so close to the Cap wall with Hamonic to be signed and the back of the bus will be booked the season for him... unless he signs with the Swede elites as an elite 4th liner!

Lots of young guys looked good tonite but Baer was the most disappointing. In fairness he wasn't playing with NHL'ers but just didn't look that hungry.
