I think you missed the comment I was replying to? It said that this current team has even less heart.. the "best case" I'm referring to, being just looking at the roster on paper and assuming they have the same amount of heart

There is no way in hell that bubble team was going to win the cup.. we got absolutely shut down by Vegas and Tampa would've blown us out every game.. so when this team is marginally (if that) better on paper, that to me is an unrealistic hope. That's my entire point - that everyone thinks this team is so much better, but in reality it is similar to the team we had then (as made clear by @Patel Bure's roster comparison I initially replied to)

I'm taking the BEST CASE scenario. In which our current team would still not be good enough to make it past the 2nd round.

But even if the current team is as good as that team was... that team wasn't good enough.. so while I totally agree with your point that we should be playing better than we are, it would still mean we aren't good enough to advance past the 2nd round, even when playing our best

No overly wholesome story here but my best memory was back from 2007 - Hank's goal in the 4th OT vs Dallas was still just a young teen so it was quite memorable being out at midnight downtown, and having a valid reason for being there that the parents wouldn't freak out about

There's a spectrum of: wrapping yourself in tinfoil........ rational/calculated thought...... assuming every bit of information you haven't witnessed in person is a lie you're a bit too far to the right for most of our likings I believe

Is it not more of a tinfoil hat moment when you are claiming that a couple local sport media guys, put on a huge act to make up something that would cause them to lose much of their ability to work in the market? Could you let us know what exactly you think they hoped to gain by doing this?

I call tell you it didn't take me longer than that at the two games I've gone to so far this year.. and their play for the remainder of those games, did confirm my assumptions

Sorry to quote such a small snippet of your well written post, but in my mind, everyone is only making these comments on the assumption that the game will suck.. I think 90%+ of us agree that the boys should be given a chance to come out strong in the 1st period w/o any negativity.

Kids? I mean, our youngest players are 20.. but if what you were saying is that we should all consider the feelings of 20/21 year old's, since they are still maturing, etc., I'd agree with you. But that's just not how the world is.. and while it would be nice to change that, I find it funny to be directing those efforts at change towards some of the most privileged "kids" on the planet.

I guess.. wish someone would give a damn about my feelings at my job that has it's own pressures and sometimes makes me miserable, but pays 1/100th of what the average Canucks player is making to play hockey..

Asking for class and civility from a bunch of fans (aka, fanatics) does make you seem like a control freak though.. have you heard of freedom of speech? It applies to negative things too..
